I'd say it's a mixed bag tbh, and depends on how you evaluate a trade (value proposition at that moment vs long term outcome)

Karlsson and DeBrincat are imo good, though I guess it's too early to really know for DeBrincat, and the Karlsson trade was a bit of a roller coaster with the SJ pick and Norris' development.

Zibanejad/Brassard, Turris/Duchene, Stone/Brannstrom turned out bad imo, though some will argue the playoff run was worth it in the case of Brassard.

I think some of his minor moves have been pretty solid, Paul/Joseph, Dzingel/Duclair, Dadonov/Holden, getting a 2nd for Paquette/Coburn.

I think the issue with Dorion's trade history is that the bad moves mostly felt avoidable. People rose the red flags the moment Stone signed a one year deal, the Zibanejad deal immediately got criticized for giving up the extra asset with the younger higher upside player, the Duchene acquisition came at a time where it felt like he was trying to save a sinking ship, Stepan trade had people immediately questioning the cost to acquire a guy well past his prime. Maybe these came because of pressure from Melnyk, maybe they are the result of not having an experience sounding board in the room.

The flip side is at least in the case of the Karlsson trade, many people felt it was going to be bad at first too. Got to let things play out I guess.

Save a sinking ship? We had just made the conference finals and had a good start to the following season.

And the ship started sinking right after. Karlsson was no longer himself after surgery, Methot was gone for a soon to be retired Oduya, Brassard's shoulder was ruined. Good starts don't involve more loses than wins. we were surviving on loser points. The degree of the downfall exceeded expectations for sure, but the team was very clearly moving in the wrong direction to anybody watching without rose coloured glasses.

Sure, it's 1 trade.
After getting Joseph for Paul, after expanding the front office and continuing to search for more execs, after securing a site for the downtown arena, after working on shedding the dead weight contracts the fanbase wanted gone (White - check, Murray and Zaitsev - coming up), after locking up significant RFAs last summer and continuing that work this summer with the next crop.

It's ok to admit you guys were wrong about something. He's not a great GM but he wasn't as bad as everyone said and that's been the point this whole time.
No the point is many people can appreciate the good moves while also being mature enough to call the bad moves out for what they are.

Most have agreed that Eugene had been a huge problem and obstacle too and were keen to see what would happen with new ownership. Early returns are encouraging but most of the upswing has come from internal growth of picks. The track record of pro acquisitions has been bad for a long time. This is a massive step forward.

Front office has added 1 person and 1 that they desperately needed so great job.

Arena discussion has zero to do with PD.

Signing RFA should be the bare minimum expectation.

As one the (apparently) few on this board who have put my money where my fandom is since the team was born I am as excited as I have been in a long time and will happily defend moves I believe in and support my belief when I don't agree.

Now if the Senators would just contact me so they could take my money.

Ok, but signing Batherson for $4.9m?

Securing Tkachuk long term instead of a bridge? (just look at his brother's situation in Calgary right now because he signed a bridge)

Both those contracts were a huge wins for the team that went well beyond "Signing RFA should should be bare minimum expectation".

Okay this is actually kind of badass.

I've never seen them do anything other show up to a game before. But this is like interesting to see that they're obviously involved in the running if the team to some capacity.

Like clearly they're seeing on Twitter how invigorated the fan base is right now after the DeBrincat trade. And that has to be exciting as an owner.
Or they could be just sitting there getting a first hand look & Pierre giving them a run down how everything works at the draft. The board runs the team & the GM runs the hockey opps & the girls getting a close up view of the draft in action. I doubt they are making any decisions here although in future who knows.

Even that is big. They want to be in the room. That's more than you can say for some other owners.

Yeah, I read it. Apparently people need to have a good move thrown in their face by you because they though the leaked Murray trade was a bad one. Comes off as divisive. It's ok to be critical of the failed Murray trade and really like the DeBrincat one. There's no gotcha moment here, we can celebrate a good move while disagreeing on the merits of another move.
Only if you are too SENSitive 😂

What? That is a core component of his role. If he can't sign RFA then there is no question, "the 75" could do his job.

How much more praise shoùld he get for Bath? Has there been 1 negative word about that on here? Universal acceptance that was a good win isn't enough?

In fact, I don't think us, "haters" have received enough credit for how much we supported that move. Please remember this when the blanket, "...haters never give GMPD any credit" comments fire up.

Any hate should go to Batherson's agent for getting taken to the cleaners.

Same deal with Brady. He had to get that done. Talking him up for leadership, essentially naming him C, etc...if he messed that up would have been a joke.

I think that Dorion did a pretty damn good job with the rebuilt, did he made some mistakes yes he did, but name me one GM that never make mistakes? I think that some poster here don't like Dorion because of what he says sometimes, they don't like his personality. It's always easier to be a GM on a message board then it is in the real world. But that's what fans do, they always theink they're smarter then the coach or the GM, thats what being a fan is all about and especially nowadays with social media everyone can tweet their opinion. So myself I'm pretty happy with Dorion, me I just watch the game, im not a GM I'm not a coach I'm just a fan who loves the Sens.

I don’t really have any issue with people having opinions.

If they try to inject the same opinion in every discussion it can get tiresome, but there’s a lot of room for variety when it comes to discussing the present and future of this team.
I can totally agree with that.

The fact that you chose this as your platform to shout about it, maybe.

For sure. HFSens is a great place for retweeting opinions. It's not something out of the ordinary.

I don't think there is any big issue there. All the time people on HFSens are talking about person x or person y that have tweeted or written an article.

If you have a problem with what people are saying on Twitter, take it to them? It gets annoying here when there’s nothing we can do about it.

even they make mistakes. Sakic nixed a deal of Zibanejad + Chabot for Duchene.
Is that true ? I didn't know that. That's hilarious. I was just joking because of everyone's love for them but I do think Yzerman is awesome and Sakic is pretty good himself - that blunder you just told me about.

Sinking ship meant keeping EK65 happy, which meant building him a winning team, which meant doing many stupid things

f*** that.

Well earned victory against the Dorion trolls.

lmfao, Finally! Seems like you’ve finally got a “victory”? over who? The rest of the fan base who all love the trade?

Please read stickied mod note, there will be no action taken at this time - but if you keep repeating I will report you.

I don’t think you understood my point.
I understood your "point" just fine. Most of us don't quote tweets just to dunk on them, they're more to continue or start a discussion. I'm not going to engage further with you today because I think at this point it's pretty obvious you know what you're doing especially on this subject.

Congratulations — it's a good time to be a Sens fan. Wish you'd help these boards reflect that reality a little better.
