Ok, other than EM's absense (and PM), explain to me how this version of the Senators organization is different from the one that was running things in January.
Other than the tyrannical, micromanaging, scourge of Ottawa owner being present….
Well, there was an article released not long ago in the athletic that outlined a chronic workplace toxicity that was pervasive throughout the organization. It outlined several specific incidences that involved personal interactions as well as media relations.
The single person responsible for all of those things has passed away. In a way, the organization has been given a bath and a breeze of fresh air has blown through the building.
I’d be willing to be that the organization is a lot better a place to work since EM’s passing, undoubtably in many was that we as fans don’t and won’t see.
However, in terms of specifics that we know; we have seen the Sens engage in the pride celebration in a way that was not typical before, and we know that the owner stymied engagement in the past.
We have seen renewed discussions with Alfie being involved with the team, we have heard Dorion tell the media that he has more money to spend this off season.
McGuire was removed from his position.
Some quality managament people were brought in as EM’s health was failing, with the optics that they were there to oversee perhaps an ownership transition, or the Lebreton situation. Speaking of which, the team has submitted a proposal before the deadline as well.
Given that it’s playoff time, and the off season hasn’t really started yet, I’d say we have probably seen as much change as can be expected with the passing of one person. We haven’t seen new ownership and the glory of mass firings that many in here are drooling over the thought of, but that may come in time. We shouldn’t really expect a sale of this magnitude to happen fast, nor should we expect it to happen in the middle of the playoffs.
