We value Simon Despres, and will not be dealing him during the season more than likely. On the other hand, if we can get a more physical D-man in a similar stage of his development, we are more than happy to listen to offers.

In the offseason, we will also listen to offers for Simon Despres that include veteran shutdown D-men on decent contracts.

We will also be riding Marc-Andre Fleury's hot start into the playoffs. With the renewed defensive conscience the team has displayed since Jacques Martin's arrival, we expect Fleury to have a major bounce-back playoff performance.

The Ottawa Senators have acquired veteran forward Ray Whitney from the Dallas Stars in exchange for Cory Conacher, Erik Condra, and Mike Hoffman.

"Ray solidifies our depth up front and completes our third scoring line. It was tough to give up Cory, Erik and Mike. We wish them all the best in Dallas."

Offers starting to pick up for Alex Goligoski. I'm open to either roster players or prospects, not too interested in draft picks though.

Stephane Robidas and Vern Fiddler available for a mid prospect.

Tim Thomas has been traded pending the waive of his NMC.

Other than that, we're done for the trade deadline. Our final roster will be posted tonight.

Eberle or Perron are available for a young, high-quality d-man. Prefer someone who leans offensive.

Schultz, Plitlick, Murphy, Arcobello, Zharkov, Musil, Marincin, Ferrence, and our 2015 1st are available to sweeten the pot.

Please don't offer me a stagnant #3 d-man for Eberle. He is a clutch top line winger who offers excellent speed, and two-way ability. I've had good discussions with two other teams but haven't found a deal both sides are comfortable with.

Kimmo Timonen (50% salary retention by Flyers)

:flyers
SJ 4th 2014

We couldn't pass up this opportunity. Kimmo is a seasoned veteran with a lot to offer a playoff team still. With the Flyers looking to rebuild, we jumped at the chance to grab him at a discounted rate for our post-season push. He brings a steady two-way presence and will stabilize our PP2 as well.

We are all done for the deadline. Our deep roster has been bolstered, with two heart and soul players in Ryan Callahan and Timonen.

We have completed 2 trades.

First: Chris Stewart for Brooks Orpik and Chuck Kobasew

And: Tim Thomas for a 2015 2nd and Dustin Jeffrey.

We are thrilled to bring in these 2 guys for our playoff push. We expect Stewart to show great chemistry with Crosby, and it also gives us the opportunity to slide Kunitz back down to Malkin's line, which should greatly spark Geno.

We thank Brooks for his services, but we feel that Simon Despres is simply the better player right now. He's been patiently waiting for a roster spot to open and here it is.

Tim Thomas is a proven Cup winner and will be great insurance if Fleury begins to falter in the playoffs again.

Yeah but at least they got value for them. A 4th round pick for Timonen with 50% retained is a ridiculous steal for SJ.

The trick is to negotiate your trades when the opposing GM is drunk. :handclap:

To Pittsburgh:
Chris Stewart

To St. Louis:
Brooks Orpik
Chuck Kobasew

The St. Louis Blues have acquired Brooks Orpik and Chuck Kobasew in exchange for Chris Stewart.

Adding a guy like Orpik completes our top four, in which we think is one of the best in the league with these acquisitons. Kobasew adds a bottom six guy who can get us some secondary scoring.
