Have acquired a top 6 scorer pending waiving of NTC.

Looking to move Jordan Schroeder and a our 2nd round pick in the upcoming draft for a 3rd line center. Cap space is tight though so any player making over about $1.5M we'd have to get creative.

:panthers UPDATE

ON THE TRADE BLOCK :
Tim Thomas (NMC) *could retain salary
Scottie Upshall (LNTC)
Tomas Kopecky
Sean Bergenheim
Ed Jovanovski
Mike Weaver
Ryan Whitney

*Can take on cap dumps in trades as long as it is an expiring contract.

Not looking to deal anyone else unless a huge overpayment. Also, I'm not moving recently acquired players.

Won't be around very often until the trade deadline on Thursday night so if you want to discuss trades, you might want to start the discussions ASAP. I will post my final roster tomorrow at noon ET.

PM!

The Vancouver Canucks have completed two trades, finalizing their roster heading into the post-season.

images

The first trade sees us bringing in sniper and proven playoff performer Mike Cammalleri in exchange for goaltending prospect Joacim Eriksson and the Canucks' 1st round pick in 2014. Calgary will also retain 50% of Cammalleri's remaining cap hit.

"We're very happy to be adding Mike to our team. Everywhere he's gone he has produced and has put up some solid numbers in post-season play. We feel Mike will be a solid addition to our 2nd line and along with recently acquired Brian Campbell, be a huge boost to our power play."

The 2nd trade involves the New York Rangers and has Brian Boyle, with 20% of his salary retained, heading west in exchange for Jordan Schroeder and the Canucks' 3rd round pick in 2014.

"We felt we needed some size down the middle and at 6'7" Boyle addresses that in a big way. Brian is also an accomplished PK'er and excellent in the face-off dot."

Daniel Sedin-Henrik Sedin-Ryan Kesler
Mike Cammalleri-Mike Santorelli-Alex Burrows
Chris Higgins-Brian Boyle-Jannik Hansen
Dale Weise-Brad Richardson-Zack Kassian
Jeremy Welsh/Darren Archibald

Alex Edler-Jason Garrison
Dan Hamhuis-Brian Campbell
Ryan Stanton-Kevin Bieksa
Yannick Weber

Roberto Luongo
Eddie Lack

With these moves the Vancouver Canucks have placed Tom Sestito on waivers.

:flames confirm the Cammalleri deal. We wish Mike the best of luck in Vancouver, but at the end of the day we felt like this was a fair offer for an unrestricted free agent that wasn't likely to be back in Calgary.

Flames are looking to move upcoming free agents: Matt Stajan, Lee Stempniak, Kris Russell and Chris Butler. Also putting Kari Ramo, TJ Galiardi, Shane O'Brien, VAN 1st 2014, CGY 2nd 2014 and any prospect not named Monahan, Gaudreau, Klimchuk or Poirier on the block.

Looking for picks and prospects in return for the UFA's, otherwise I'm looking to package pieces together for an upgrade on D or in nets (potentially at wing, but would have to be a top liner).

The Rangers still have Anton Stralman, Dominic Moore, Mats Zuccarello and Benoit Pouliot available. A couple of solid 4th liners, a skilled playmaker and a top-4 RD who can move the puck.

We're likely done before the deadline and ready to go to war with the group we have.

But... we'll continue searching the market for upgrade to the roster. We'll go nuclear and trade Gibson or OTT 1st '14 for significant pieces to aid in the Cup quest, but with only a million in cap space and no glaring needs, we are likely to stand pat unless our socks are blown off.

Caps acquire defenseman Byfuglien

The Caps have acquired Dustin Byfuglien from the Winnipeg Jets. He will slot in on the first pair and is the exact type of defenseman that this team has needed. We are happy to bring in Big Buff and believe he can be a key part to this team in a long playoff run. We gave up a top prospect in Evgeny Kuznetsov and more, however we believe our offense and prospect pool were solid enough to be able to give him up for a top pairing defenseman such as Byfuglien. We now believe we have two pairs that are capable of being considered first pairs on many teams.

Full trade:

Brooks Laich
John Erskine
Tomas Kundratek
