GDT: GM#66 LA Kings vs Chicago Blackhawks @1:00pm

His teammates, who are as elite, at least a few of them anyway, have at times tried to tell him to calm down when he gets riled up. Refs let players say a few words on penalty calls that the vast majority of players never agree with, but there's a line. Going over it doesn't help anyone. Plant the seed that they made a bad call, and the ref might even agree. Just don't keep dogging them about it.

There's a difference between a drive and desire to be great with the talent you have, and losing you wits.
There's a difference between complaining and throwing all your gear in the box.

i still think the refs were as unprofessional as doughty

that Hawks 2nd goal that went to a coach's challenge? everyone was clueless even the announcers
the refs should say: after review, the ref didn't have any intent to blow the whistle (which is utter BS but whatever) therefore we have a good goal.

then LA challenges

then ref comes back, after further review, there is goalie interference, goal is disallowed

so to me, right from the beginning the refs didn't show up to work

Everyone needs cheerleaders. I appreciate everyone who is; however, there comes a time when a spade needs to be called a spade.

There is really no excuse for today. Those that want to argue on Doughty's behalf should just pack up and come back another day.

Doughty was a clown today. Is anybody disputing that?

The impact of the clown show has been disputed.

It was definitely a game losing clown show.

That doesn’t mean it’s time to even joke about moving on from Drew f’ing Doughty, the most consistent King for the past 8 seasons, who brought 2 cups and can bring more, because he threw a temper tantrum in early March.

Not saying they should move on but rather there are serious leadership issues with him. Been saying it but it gets argued away.

He proved a lot of people's points today. Hopefully it is a turning point in his maturity.

Damn surprised that people are still steamed

i got into an argument with a friend, and my mother lollll

i'm still not feeling good and a girl is coming over my house in 30mins... i think i won't get laid tonight

This is still a core that won two cups and is insanely good. The supporting cast not so much but it’s better than last year. A rebuild will set them back a good six years. Vilardi may/may not make a difference next year. I don’t think they are world beaters but I want to see if they can do anything in the playoffs this year and next. I don’t relish another show down with San Jose or either top seed but that is what it is. Every team is tough. A rebuild vs retool all hinges on Doughty imho. Carter, Brown, Quick go and it will signal the end of this era. Kopi and Doughty could still be here in six or seven years.

This core you speak of, cannot win a cup without real leadership. We had Stoll, Richards, Mitchell, Justin Williams, and Greene. Do you think those guys would allow Doughty have a temper tantrum today?

After Doughty's penalties, the Hawks didnt draw another for the rest of the game. All 4 calls were on the Kings, while the Hawks hooked and held at will..Even after it was 3-3 Shaw just takes out Cliffy at center ice when the puck was nowhere near him the next shift. Refs made an example of Doughty, don't show us up.

Wtf guys, I left watching the game at 3-1 up to go to a birthday party. Last I saw was Kopitar going across to Doughty in the box to presumably calm him down. I take it Doughty got an unsportsmanlike conduct as well and we folded like a deck chair. Thats going to sting the old 3rd period goal differential.

I can't leave these bloody kids for five minutes without them losing a game, f***.

exactly and both are results of bad officiating

the tantrum would not have happened if the refs did their jobs properly (that's really not excusing Doughty's behavior so don't cherry pick my arguments please)

and Doughty should be more mature to behave properly despite the fact that some don't do their jobs

point is, doughty's behavior AND bad officiating occurred during this game (you can choose what to fume about here)

if one of the two didn't happen, we would have won the game

so in your mind you think you're right because you're focusing on Doughty (which is half of the truth)
but the other argument is also correct (which completes the truth)

They killed the Doughty bad call, it was a non factor in the outcome, it was the avoidable penalty they failed to kill. That was not on the ref, that was on Doughty.

Doughty's job there is to keep the damage at a minimum, he failed to do it.

At worst the Pearson penalty which was a bad call would have tied the game, speaking of which Pearson knew it was a bad call but he just skated to the box.

And because Doughty was foolish, the coach had to make an example of him so he missed shifts
He is lucky he is playing in LA, as aside from a few of us fans, nobody cares what he did. And that might bode well for signing him long term because in Toronto they would be waiting outside his house with pitchforks and torches :-)

Hopefully he learns, he cost his team 2 points, he still has a lot more credits than debits, and I suspect he will have a couple of game winning goals down the stretch to make it up to his teamates

You deserve to hang your head in shame Drew. This one's all on you!

Stripping the C from Brown may have been the stupidest thing Lombardi did in his tenure as Kings GM. Making the wrong hockey decision on Lucic, Tuebert, Richards etc. is one thing, the decision to strip Brown was personal and reeked of desperation.

Taking the "C" away from Brown was one of the conditions Sutter asked for when he was resigned. Two mistakes for one!

In the video, both refs are watching him the entire time , just waiting to give him more.

Yep, and that comes from his actions in the past, they were just waiting for the right time etc, correct me if I am wrong, but that is one of the FEW times he's actually been dinged for it, he does it a lot of the time, but rarely has he been dinged.

Charron has been a douche to us for years now. In 15-16 in particular he was a shitshow for us, we lost all 5 games he reffed, and called some of the circus games that year. Apparently they cooled on giving him to our games since, but each one has been pretty memorable.

Again not an excuse but not surprised if he was just waiting to ring up Doughty.

Edit: hell, even Rosen had commentary on it
