Honestly surprised Doughty's antics haven't bit us in the backside further.

It was an impactful and ridiculous tantrum. The fact Stevens and Kopitar said they are addressing it internally suggests it's an issue.

This core you speak of, cannot win a cup without real leadership. We had Stoll, Richards, Mitchell, Justin Williams, and Greene. Do you think those guys would allow Doughty have a temper tantrum today?

So Richie
is going to punch him in the head? Come on the penalty was assessed by a ref who was being shown up in the moment , nothing the "leaders could do to stop it" then and kopi and Stevens both said it will be addressed ,the issue going forward for the team is he clearly has the reputation ,and well deserved, that he is a hot head and his antics show up the refs continuously not a good rep to have in a league with such parity and a couple of points missed like this could have you in the central bracket if you make it at all

Why do people keep saying this? We have no idea what the locker room was like then, and we don't know what it's like now.

Kopi is having his best season ever with a C on his jersey. With that said, the cup team didn't have trash playing along side doughty for 20+ min a night. They didn't have to rely on 3 or more rookies being dressed every game. Stoll was a face-off wizard and until recently we had Shore as his replacement who can't even crack the lineup on the worst team in the game today. Mitchell was twice the defensemen that muzzin will ever be. Williams is one of the most clutch post season players ever to play, which is hard to replace.

This can't win without leadership stuff is crap. Talent wins cups, with leadership being a very small part of it. Doughty was just as childish when all these so called leaders were around too, how quickly that part is forgotten.

Rosen spent a long time discussing it this morning so I rest assured the issue will be handled internally. I'm sure Drew is punching himself over it now as well, and has several days to sit in his own waste.

He also pointed out that was Drew's fourth unsportsmanlike conduct this year.

the hawk game was such bs. It reminded me of the hawks run over the last 6 - 8 years. I would get home from work and turn on the NBCSN or NHL network game (of course the blackhawks would be on). It would be mid 3rd period and if the hawks were behind by a goal or two, and I'd say - "they'll score and win it in OT or the SO." Then just watch the refs go to work. The hawks could do no wrong - they would trip, interfere, hit late, run picks (they would do this a LOT), and never get called. And they of course would score late and win the game 8/10 games. I saw this countless times.

Well yesterday the refs gave the hawks a HUGE break by calling 2 bs penalties against the Kings in the 3rd period which gave the hawks a shot at the game. Yeah, Doughty went too far, but there shouldn't have even been a penalty called. DD was right telling the refs "just look at the replay!"

It will be AWESOME to see the hawks not make the playoffs for a change, even with the refs' help.

It's an unpopular opinion but I agree because both things can be true: terrible reffing and terrible behavior. And like I pointed out above, Charron has a long history of making a shitty call, then reacting to people reacting to said shitty call. I think the last one on Pearson was St. Pierre but the point stands, it's like they couldn't wait to call anything on the Kings the entire 3rd period, while letting the Hawks run amok. How many 3rd periods for us have the whistles been put away entirely when we start pushing hard?

Now much like the disallowed goal at the end of the Edmonton game it's hard to truly be mad because you shouldn't put yourself in that situation regardless and, if you do, you simply have to kill a penalty or two, which the Kings have been adept at all year--I'm more upset at the team for the total team meltdown and Drew for being a diva in the moment (even if correct) than I am at the terrible refs for being terrible.

2-4-1 at home against the Central.
4-5-2 at home against the Pacific.

That's 6-9-3. The road team is 12-3-3. The Kings have 15 points in the 18 games, and opponent has 27. Just not good.

That includes regulation losses to Vancouver, Edmonton, and Chicago. That could be a giant 6 points. If the Kings could've walked away with 3 of those 6 points it would be huge.

67% of the time the road team has left with a win. 75% of the time the road team has picked up a point.

This game is pretty much the story of what they do at home against western teams. 2 of the next 3 are against western teams, St.Louis and Vancouver. Right now, they're more likely to lose both of those games than win. At least 2 more stick breaks over their own net.

This right here has killed the Kings this season so far.

I was at yesterday game and sat two rows behind the Kings bench. An interesting thing that happened before the game was the equipment manager dude hanging the small hockey rink white board on the glass behind the coach with the back of the board facing towards the crowd. Written on the back was "Refs for game" with the two listed. It seemed strange to me at the time seeing that. Now in retrospect, did the Kings coaches explain to the players their somewhat troubled past with these two refs?

Still can't believe this happened. Team is desperate for points to lock up a playoff spot and then this. I don't want Doughty traded or anything absurd like that, but I sure would like to pimp slap him once or twice for that display.

Grow up Drew.
I'd love for him to show that emotion in other ways. I don't want to keep harping on it but that emotion channeled into say getting angry with Perron and dropping the gloves could have a much more positive impact with his teammates and around the league. Now after that tantrum he looks more like a whiny bitch.

At this point I almost want him to brawl just so he has some sort of catharsis.

Doughty channeling frustration and anger into positive play = great.

Doughty completely unchained = sloppy and unfocused, like at the end of the season when he shit the bed against the Jets all game and that carried on into the playoffs vs. the Sharks.

He doesn't seem to understand right now that he's making it worse for himself too. It was let go for a long while but has intensified lately. Seems like there's something else going on there, maybe, but I think this little break comes at a perfect time like I said before.

I think Doughty has a tough decision to make coming up. That would certainly effect your play. His next contract will be huge, and he gets to choose where he plays.

Drew loves the Kings that's a given, but Drew also wants to win more Cups.

I would imagine they always do that. They do that in baseball all the time too. It tells the cosches/players the ref's name. Looks better to call him by his name rather than just yell "ref."

so who's going to talk to the refs is my question?

did Toronto even watch the game? it was an afternoon game after all, not like they were all in bed

We had Charron for 5 games in 15--we lost every single one with penalties galore and more than one of those games was Sutter of all people losing it on the refs. We've only seen him 4 times since. Can see why.
