Draft picks outside the third round have less than 20% chance to set foot on NHL ice. Even 1st/2nd round picks only really have about 60% (about there) to play more than 100 NHL games.

And how is the success rate when you don’t own first rounders or draft projects in the first? I guess if they’re not drafting in the top 10, trade the pick away. That strategy has been working wonders for this team.

Kovalchuk doesn’t deserve this. He was sold on the idea that he’d be playing with a contending team, with a #1 center who will be capable of setting him up for 30+ goals (which I think he’s still capable of doing).

Instead, he finds himself on a team with no backbone, all led by the spineless leaders on this team who clearly are mentally checked out.
