God, that run had so many good moments. Tanev series winner, Horvat dismantling the Blues, Lotto line torching teams, bubble Demko, Tyler Minors taking 30 minor penalties, JT Miller pre-game line up read…
It was the most fun I've had watching the team since 2011

This still haunts me

Figure if they were just calling someone up to fill the 13th forward spot it would have been Studnicka. Abby Canucks play Friday and Saturday.
There are multiple considerations, some of which are in favour of calling Karlsson up instead of Studnicka even though they don't expect him to play. Of course, the obvious contrary factor is not wanting to interrupt Karlsson's development, but it is a long season and they might well take the view that his development won't be seriously hurt playing half a dozen (or more) fewer games in the AHL while practising with the NHL team and seeing how they and their coaches do things. Considerations the other way include:

1. Studnicka is not waiver exempt and they might not want to waste his waiver-free days on an NHL roster on short callups where there is little chance of him playing.

2. They might want to get Karlsson, who could probably make more playing in Sweden than in the AHL, a few days at NHL pay to make the hardship on him financially for coming to North America slightly less.

3. If the player is just going to sit, perhaps Studnicka will make more of an impact playing for Abbotsford than Karlsson would.

A playoff run like that in front of fans would have been crazy. Rogers arena would have been nuts in the Blues series and even crazier in the VGK series.

That said, we probably wouldn't have made the playoffs if COVID didn't happen.

Studnicka cleared waivers again on Nov 14th and has reset his clock.

Don't want to see them on their heels most of the game, I want to see them push back and go toe-to-toe. None of that turtling crap.

I think Studnicka is a bit redundant up here with Aman around. Aman fills the role of a "winger who can play center" so you aren't forced to keep a center as your 13th forward.

We know Tocchet cares about his "sides" on defense so maybe he also values having a right shot in case he wants to give the lineup a different look. With Suter out, Lafferty and his right shot has moved to more center so Karlsson fills that spot a bit of a RH/RW guy if they want.

But my favorite theory is simply that they are calling him up and will showcase him in some games for a trade.

Have any of our reporters just asked Tocchet or Allvin why Karlsson over Studnicka?

I was aware the clock was recently reset on Studnicka-it was a matter of some comment on this board. That doesn't mean they should waste his days unnecessarily without caring whether they'll need them in the future. It isn't a major consideration, but if I remember correctly the Canucks were criticized on HF-Canucks for keeping him up a few days too long before sending down this last time.

Where is Zadorov? How long is the flight from Calgary?
Would not be really fair to have him suit up for tonight, he would not be 100% but to see him and Myers standing next to Hughes. :D :D: :D

Hughes, Soucy, Myers and Zadorov would look like minor hockey Atom level with coaches and kids.

I assume he'll stay in Calgary and join the team on Sat. That game just got a whole lot more interesting after the trade. Would be cool to see him destroy pospicle

Too bad the Zad trade couldn't have been 1 day earlier so he could be in the line-up tonight. We could use his heft against the Knights tonight.

GO CANUCKS GO !!!
