While it's impossible to pin how absolutely abysmal this team has been on two players, Pearson and Carter has been absolute shit.

Carter has been fighting off the puck all season. Can't shoot and can barely pass. The dude is still stuck in pre-season form.

You're speculating.

If what you're saying here is true, then why Did Carter perform so well after coming back from injury last season? (13g 6a 19pts in 21 games)

Even if it were true that his injury is the issue, then how do you think this injury would have effected him if he was 26 years old? Probably not as much, so age is still part of the issue.

Last year only two players in the entire NHL aged 34+ scored over 20 goals. Carter turns 34 this season.

Everything is speculation.

Many players come back after injuries and play well, only to regress after that, and age doesn't always factor in. Case in point: Erik Karlsson. Had major ankle surgery before the 2017 season, at 27 years old. He came back on fire with 17 points and even through 11 games. Since then he's had 46 points in his last 70 and a -33. He is clearly not the same player.

We all knew Carter was going to regress, because as you said, guys don't score as much when they get older. I was just stating that saying that someone is "right" about something is disingenuous when a big part of that was an unlucky injury.

Some of us were saying two years ago that Carter should be traded and got chastised for it.

Your're supposed to trade players before they fall off the cliff, not after.

People can't separate their emotions from the decision making process. Fall for it every time.
And rightfully.

People ventilate their opinion every time. When that specific player will have a stretch of points, they are nowhere to be seen until they suck again.

I have read multiple discussions about Kopitar who should not be resigned.
Than he suddenly has the best season of any Kings player since Palffy. Just wait when he sucks again, than these people come out of their holes again.

Just a quick read of any GDT is a good example of how bipolar most are.

Good points and true. It's easy to harp on the guy playing poorly (Carter) but it's difficult to be forward thinking in dealing the guy playing well. No one wants to sell early, but I'd rather sell a season early than a season late. It's an educated guessing game and GMs do their best to plan going forward while staying relevant today. It's why no GM bats 1.000 in making deals.

Armchair GMing is what we all do. Thank God it's not our day job, because our teams would be much worse off. I'm horrible at hockey trades, but I'm also the idiot who's suggesting they begin thinking about moving DD if at all possible in the next 2-3 years.

I find it hilarious that the Kings play a decent game for 60 minutes and everyone is STILL bitching about it....

They lose, you bitch
They play like crap, you bitch
They win, you bitch
They play decent, you bitch.

It's kinda sad actually that they play a decent game and you guys STILL can't be happy about it lol

Fair enough. Were any on passes like that? I have no idea. Whenever I think of Quick handling the puck, all I see are the disasters.

They don't play Sutter hockey. Maybe there was a reason his defensive philosophy was don't be in your own zone. Plus there are some rather different players than there used to be.

I find it hilarious that the Kings play a decent game for 60 minutes and everyone is STILL *****ing about it....

I didn't watch all of it but when I was watching it sure wasn't a 'decent' game. The process was ugly, and the result only wasn't ugly because the Rangers are a full-bore tank team that actively benefits from losing and did everything in their power to choke.

If you're encouraged by eeking out a narrow, last-minute win against one of the only two teams worse than us--of whom two of our three wins on the season are against--then I applaud you.

To me, I would have preferred a loss to accelerate change, to this bullshit false beacon of hope that it will be made out to be. In true Kings fashion, they'll probably get 3 of 6 points across the next three, because it's PHI--awful like us--CBJ, who will destroy us, and Anaheim, who is every bit as bad but with god-tier goaltending, Blake and Robataille and Stevens will be like 'see? we're trending in the right direction' only for us to get absolutely obliterated when we run into the next string of actual good teams.

no, I can't be happy about 1 win in the last 7 games, the NHLs 2nd worst goal differential, and the regression of the entire roster simply because of a hollow win. Feel free to spend 5 posts spinning it however you want to, I'm not falling into that trap again.

Even though I want sustained losing for change, its good to see Brown charge back into the fray and help get us a win.

Agreed, only thing that made me happy about yesterday was seeing some smiles and exuberance from Brown and even kovalchuk.

I don't doubt these guys want to turn everything around, I doubt the organization and coaching staffs vision.

it took me years to get used to it & kind of like it now. it's a trademark of this forum. take no prisoners attitude. and compared with hf average level of "discussion" it's a pearls necklace. just take it with a grain of salt and have fun.

Not sure what part you watched, but again, can we get off this stupid shit of this team sucks, that team sucks etc, they are all NHL caliber teams, and any team can beat any team on any night, so that's nonsense, "oh we beat an AHL team" hell one idiot was clamoring that Shattenkirk was the only NHL dmen on the team, apparently not knowing crab about Pionk, Skej, or their other D, Staal is still solid, old and less mobile, etc.

NYR had 1.5 solid goals, I say 1.5 because no way to know for sure with that Namestenkov-Lewis debacle if that goal was in before he got hit, regardless of what they said there was no clear replay, and the passing play was just solid.

But guess what, LA had 3 solid goals, 2 PPG goals when everyone was bitching about the PP to start the year, it's clicking, they carried the play the majority of the time etc,

I get it, you want the Kings to lose so they can fire a guy you think is the problem,....except that won't happen right away because everyone in the league knows that Steven's isn't the ONLY problem, they know that everyone is playing beneath their potential and talent level, and a player will be traded before the coach is fired, to remedy that.

lol true but they were half full when i last posted to him I must say thanks for showing me there are still true fans out there with ur half full approach I have given up the don quitoe attempt to send positive vibes in here but will always recognize ones that do. Please don't let them get to u

Nah, apparently I'm an egoistical asshole who knows jackshit about the game....

they were DOWN 2-0 AT home against a TERRIBLE Rangers team

i'm really ecstatic that the kings are 3-7-1
you should be too

that's 3 WINS which is the same number as the holy trinity in the Bible

that's pretty positive! can't get more positive than that!

also if you add up the losses, 7+1 = 8 which is EXACTLY the jersey # of Drew Doughty

is Drew Doughty Jesus?

stay tuned

The rangers suck. The kings suck too. 1.5 goals. Lmao we are now down to calling goals solid or not.

It's not just the coach people here want changed, it's just the first step that needs to be done.

Kings win their first game in six games, so let’s all pretend they’ve been playing great hockey, even when they defeat bottom feeders.

They’re trying their hardest, and that’s all that matters guys. Just ignore the end result. Be happy they won after they’ve been getting their asses handed to them for most of October.

If only those positive vibes resulted in playoff wins...

A. it's early,
B. yes, they were down, and? 60 minute game, they weren't down because they were playing like shit, they were down because Cambpell let in a really really really bad goal, and Namestenkov drove the net, and Lewis helped them...
