To be fair, McKenna has to be aware his team is a bit behind the play as the puck carrier and should've slowed the play down to adjust instead of committing to driving the net and centering the puck to nobody. Or at the very least drive it to the net if he's committed to going in alone.

He did his job. Even if he was ahead of his teammates, no one was following. The other four were coasting to the blueline.

Passing to nobody leading to a giveaway is not doing his job. If you're going to carry the puck in by yourself, then read off the play and adapt. Challenge a defender, take the puck to the slot, skate into the corner and get it in deep. Don't throw away the play.
