German football season 2023/24

Is it bad that I forgot about the first half of games today since I knew we don't play until tomorrow and I was rewatching the One Piece adaptation?

I'm so happy that show is actually good :yo:

Hertha & Schalke are going to get relegated from Buli2, aren't they?
Yeah, why not. Big names don't prevent relegation. (See Lautern, 60 and many, many others). Losing 4-6 in a professional football game is something, tho.

Maxi Beier scored again for TSG. The jump to the senior level has been difficult for him, but he's a talented kid if things have finally started to come together for him.

Asked in travel thread, but would anyone know how feasible it would be to get Bayern tickets?

Hertha wouldn't shock me because of the way their roster has imploded, they have talented kids but it's hard to get promoted with inexperienced kids...but Schalke seemed to have enough BuLi2 type players to fight their way to promotion.

Bayern v Leverkusen shaping up to be a big game early. The Xhaka effect is fully here for Leverkusen

I had a friend who was in Munich and who wanted a ticket and he was told there was a waiting list that could last months for non registered fans.
That was years ago though and before Tuchel ball

Any other opponent and Leroy hammers that home.

Well, still wasn't enough giving up that late goal to Bayern.

Still, it was more stable defensively playing that 4-3-3 and I think you're going to see that formation more often than not.
Especially if Koné's good to go after the international break.
Though, I like Reitz and think he did a good job.

Also, it seems like Elvedi could now be extended and he would help given that he can also play as right back.

Anyways, it's now time to start collecting points for Gladbach.

Actually not.
Leverkusen usually craps their pants when they play bigger teams and also consistantly get their A$$es handed to them when playing in Munich.

Wouldn't be shocked if Bayern absolutley annihilates them in that match.

Yeah, that was a rough way to end the game, but an excellent performance.

I liked Reitz too, but I'm biased, I've liked him since the youth levels.

Elvedi not being sold should be a big help whether he's playing CB or FB...though it does make me again wonder about playing a Wöber-Itakura-Elvedi back 3, or using Itakura at the 6 with Kone & Neuhaus/Weigl between Ko and front 3.

And yeah, time to go on a winning streak :yo:

Leipzig has a scary good squad, with lots of depth especially in offensive position. Xavi Simons with a very good match, scoring and assisting one. And then they can bring on a striker like Sesko to score twice.

Obviously they were helped by Volland getting sent off for his hard tackle, but they were better even before that.

Depending how far each of them go in Europe, I could see Leipzig beating Bayern to the title.

The first half was pretty even. We came out better, but they started getting into it about 15min in. Simons scored a beauty and Sesko becomes the next future great to get his first BuLi goal against us.

But if we had done more with our openings the match was there to be won. Hopefully we’re fitter for the re-match…

I can't help feeling like Leipzig have gone a bit too Leverkusen right as Leverkusen has finally addressed their overly-pragmatic double-pivot with Xhaka.

Olmo, Simons, Baumgartner, Forsberg, and Carvalho is a wonderful band of creatives. Openda, Sesko, Werner, and Poulsen is excellent depth up front. And the defense is in great shape with Simakan, Orban, Lukeba, Bitshiabu, Klostermann, Henrichs, Raum, & Lenz.

While Schlager, Seiwald, Kampl, Haidara, & Moriba is a very solid group, it's lacking in comparison to the other areas of the roster. So in matches where they have the ball and their pressing can't create enough chances, I can see that midfield's lack of creativity being a problem.

It took a wonderful strike from Simons to break the tie against us, after which point they settled down and Volland's brain turned off. But if that Simons shot were just an inch or two higher, we would have kept the clean sheet and the frustration would've continued to build on their side.
