German football season 2023/24

Goals are the reason we finally brought VAR in, so how likely a mistake is to lead to a goal is directly connected to how important it is to correct it.

I don't have that problem at all watching the BuLi and the Tottenham-Chelsea game being the only EPL match I've watched this season, I can't comment on how VAR is done in that league because I'm going to assume not every match is that much of a s***show
Well I understand that, but as long as some goals are scored as a result of a throw in (whether a long throw in or otherwise), shouldn't it be treated the same?

There’s a balance to be struck, but if they were checked quickly enough I don’t have any philosophical issues with it.
If you have ai watching there is no reason they can't be faster than the on the field officials. You don't need human eyes to see who touched it last

It's raining quite a lot in Dortmund. Home team fell 2-0 back (Kone's 1st goal of the season was nice) but have fought back amazingly and go 3-2 up on the brink of half-time.

Malen ends his drought on an empty net.

I'll be there the next time Dortmund play at home.

It's finally over. I would've cried if we had come back to win, but the team finally got something for its effort with that equalizer from grandpa Volland.

Without being present in the locker room and training, Marco Rose's selections for Leipzig keep on being weird. Why does he insist with Blaswich, who probably cost them a goal today.

Xavi Simons was clearly frustrated with there not being enough attacking quality around him (and earned himself a yellow card). I mean they have quality players on the bench, why not start them, instead of sticking with players who hasn't been working for the side as of late.

Then on the other end of spectrum, does Xabi Alonso have a claim to being the best manager in the world right now? Consider where Leverkusen were when he took over and where he has them now and how they have been performing.

Depending on the timing of the current manager departures, I wouldn't be surprised if there'll be a tug of war between Real Madrid and Liverpool to appoint him. Although at the moment it seems more likely for Ancelotti to leave at the end of season, so in that case he would end up in there.

Funnily enough, I feel like Leipzig have run into the exact problem that Leverkusen finally solved this past summer. Not on the bench, but in the central midfield, where for ages Leverkusen lacked the quality to bind a team that had very talented attackers and defenders.

Just like adding Xhaka to Palacios/Andrich has finally given the pill-pushers the necessary quality to give the whole better cohesion, losing Sabitzer & Laimer in consecutive years has caused Leipzig to face the same problems with consistency that Leverkusen used to.

Wherever he goes it's going to be a huge loss for the BL. Leverkusen are really legitimately good and also really fun to watch, and to lose that so he can go to clubs where the performance floor is so high as it is would be a shame. Wonder if Hoeneß is managing himself into contention as a possible replacement.

I saw some statistic on Friday where Blaswich is the fifth best goalie in the Bundesliga this year.

Alonso has been great, but whoever was in charge of transfers did an amazing job, Xhaka, Grimaldo and especially Boniface have been amazing for them.

I dunno that I will ever understand how Hoppenheim didn't equalize there. Beier's follow up lacked venom, but Bulter's 2 follow up chances? Just crazy scrambling from the Mainzer to take a 1-0 lead into the break.

Gruda is such a nifty little player. If Burkardt gets back to where he was before the injury Mainz could have a really fun attack in a year (or two) with those two playing off of Weiper.

All 3 are very different types of attackers...Weiper a huge #9 with good mobility, Burkardt they latest in the Brandt/Müller mold, and Gruda a slick little dribbler...but all 3 are very crafty and technical, and I'm very high on each of them.

Beier is interesting too. His goals got him attention, but he's really rounded his game out a lot at the senior level. Very good combination of speed, size, skill, and intelligence, like a German Darwin Nunez.

Richter FKs and crossbars, a love story for the ages.

That that game ended 1-1 and 11 v 11 is proof that the commentator's curse is real. There is no logical explanation for why that game didn't finish 3-2 or 4-3, with each team down to 10

Well... if you've got guys willing to step in front of pointblank shots with their dicks... that goes a long way.

That definitely helps...but if Bülter had tucked that header into the top corner like he should've, no dick in the world would've stopped it.
