I still don't like the system because its not pretty but boy is it effective. We are winning games we would have never won under previous regimes while looking like shit. We also do not crumble against mediocre to bad teams even when we play like shit. I still want to see us beat an elite team but that will come. Some of the young guys are starting to gain confidence with the opportunity. Mika has not even heated up yet, that will come around January and when that happens watch out. Even though he is PPG I still feel Panarin has another gear he hasn't gotten to yet this season. Kreider is playing the best he has ever played.

They did call him "Gal-Lant" back in the day

LOL....around his home town he was always called Turkey ! It's just the last 25 years or so it was shortened to Turk . I remember him playing competitive softball as a teenager in the Summers...he was always known as Turkey . LOL...I would love to see one writer address him as Turkey in them media scrums post game and see how it goes over ....On the Gallant side of things...on PEI where he is born the two most common last names are Gallant and Gallant. There has even been a spoof or two done on it . A bit of comedy here....

We’d be in last place under Quinn.

I disagree. I get people want to crap on Quinn because he wasn’t a great coach but Igor has really skewed our opinions on Gallant. We were really bad early on. We’ve really picked it up the last couple of games. Gallant is clearly a better coach but I think a lot of people would be singing a different tune if we lost some games we should’ve lost early on.

Quinn would have given Geo some
Of those games.

no one would be singing a different tune if they stared terribly and then started trending upwards like they have the last 2 weeks. Igor is 100% responsible for them being too 3 in the division, but Gallant has them playing well right now.

One would wonder though if the reason they played poorly was because they were learning a new system. The most drastic example of this was 2013-14. And we were much better than that team started.

I wonder if we’re overachieving because of Gallant like Vegas overachieved before getting guys like Pacioretty and Stone. Then again, we have a ton of elite and high-end skill. Quinn’s Rangers were about individuality. Gallant’s Rangers are about the team. It’s clear as day to me when I look at Strome and his involvement.

Implementing an actual system tends to make teams look more like they are playing as a team.

I agree, they are definitely trending in the right direction and are looking like a more complete team. But it was Igor, Fox and Kreider until 2 weeks ago. I don’t think that would’ve been different with Quinn. Would he play Georgiev more? Probably but that might be an extra loss or two. Don’t think we’d be anywhere near the bottom.

Maybe I’m expecting too much from a hockey forum and am taking the over exaggeration too literally. But I can’t see this team being bottom 5 in the East whether it were Quinn or Gallant coaching. I think Igor will be a top 5 goalie moving forward and has proven he can carry the team on his back. He’s making me believe he’ll be on Henrik’s level at some point. It’s to early to say with what could go wrong but he’s so good. We might not have to worry about goalie for another 10+ years. We’re very fortunate.

If Quinn was still the coach he would be splitting Igor and Georgievs starts. Absolute clown.

We probably don't get this start from Kreider under Quinn.

Not to mention Howden is still probably here and he would have probably done some goofy shit with the lines and we wouldn't even had the semblance of stability that we have with our lines right now (theres been some tweaking here and there, but the units have primarily been the same for a while.)

Extra loss or 2 or 3 depending on how many extra starts he would have given Geo (He would have 100% started him on the Island and who knows how that game would have gone with Geo in net), and then a few others in close games that this team has pulled out. Quinn's Rangers wouldn't have come back and won in Ottawa and they sure as hell would have found a way to blow it in Boston.

He would have 100% started him against Toronto. We know how that would have ended.
