I just dont understand how he lost the team so quickly. They all clearly bought in last season and he got them to within 2 games of the finals. what the f*** happened?

Yeah. No clue how we go from that to this in the span of an off-season.

Two things:

1) Kakko benched game 6
2) Trouba named Captain

Both moves could have irked various teammates in the locker room.

If Kreider and Mika are pouting cause neither one of them got named captain, idk what to tell them

Both of them had years and opportunities to step up and be named it and they didn’t.

So they should get the f*** over it. Trouba is a good captain

At the very least, there should be a full audit on how this coaching staff prepares this team. How they practice, how they go over video, how they scout the opposition. Everything.

Just pointing out things I can think of that changed. Another is Strome, a guy well liked in the locker room, ousted for Trocheck.

Don’t agree on Trouba. He’s got some team player in him, but I don’t see a captain.

Right, Trocheck is one of the most hated guys in the league, that's no secret. Even the rangers aired short clips during Friday's game (Trocheck spotlight night) asking guys how it felt to have Trocheck on the team and they all answered with some form of "i hated playing against him, he runs his mouth, glad i don't have to play against him anymore"
Strome was the bridge between Artemi and the rest of the team. It's definitely a different dynamic for the team. I think it can work Trocheck has been playing well but he plays sort of a one-man-army game. Would like to see him with Kreider for a stretch of games.

Something has to be done. I don’t know what the hell it is. But something has to shake this club up.

Wow. I mean, wow.

Happened to the islanders last year too after 1 game from the finals. It’s crazy how much teams change year to year.

He put his faith in a certain subset of players who have now interpreted that faith as meaning they can do whatever they want and never be held accountable. The question is whether Gallant has it in him to be the "bad cop" and put the team back in order. He hasn't been willing to do it so far.

GG may not have lost the locker room but he sure seems to have lost the regulars here.

Not a lot of love for him, or the team in general, right now….

Honestly, if any player has a problem not being named captain and it effects his game/locker room, then that player should be benched indefinitely. If it's one of the vets, bench him for so long that he agrees to waive his NMC. I don't care.

There’s a reason people leave jobs when they are passed up for promotion. Sometimes it can even be a long time employee who doesn’t want the promotion and might turn it down anyway, but feels slighted by not even being asked after all the work they’ve put in. Either way, it’s a normal human emotion and athletes are…humans.

I don’t know what bucket Kreider might fall in, but he’s been a career Ranger, consistent performer from year-to-year, just posted 50 goals (and 2nd most single season in NYR history), and was playing at the height of his career. They still chose someone else. Now I’m not saying Kreider would have been a “correct choice”, as I’m not sure a correct choice existed, but I believe he had a much stronger case than Trouba. He’s more than earned the right to feel slighted, if he does.

It’s really unsettling seeing GG smiling and speaking about the team positively in the post game interviews when in reality we are on the verge of total collapse

We saw the same thing with Quinn. It’s the fragile roster that needs to disappear
Yep, lets get rid of 22 guys. The whole roster isnt the problem. Refuse to believe the entire roster is devoid of talent and ability. They are playing extremely undisciplined. Simple mistakes. Dumb, lazy penalties. Mentally caving at the first sign of adversity in any given game. They aren’t moving their legs. Playing with energy. Gallant was right to ask for it going into last night’s game, problem is no one responded to him other than Trouba. That’s a massive sign the coach has lost the respect and commitment of the room.
