I think the logic gallant had been using for pp2 was keep someone who's more defensively responsible on it. He wants to give the kids pp time, but also not conceed any goals. Not saying thats worked out well, but that might be his logic.

After mistake after mistake after mistake, time to throw his logic out the window. KAM on PP2. Or Fox plays the whole time.

Shorty vs Carolina and the dumb penalty on the 4 min PP that could have iced the game plus the unit's general failure aside from the odd fluke should be enough. When Fox played the full 2 minutes and stayed on with group 2 they scored of course.

My theory is that Gallant does not want to upset the leadership group, but eventually Trouba's lack of performance will upset those who value winning above all else.

Miller has shown that he deserves to run PP2, would rather give Fox a breather and don't want to see a 2min+ shift if the penalty expires and Fox gets trapped on the ice.
 
Remember when he just woke up one day, decided to randomly flip Lafreniere and Vatrano, and decided it was the greatest lineup tweak of all-time?

I flipped my lid.

Kreider-Zibanejad-Vatrano - 44.1 xGF% (35.1 in the playoffs)
Kreider-Zibanejad-Lafreniere - 53.8 xGF%

I know how to pick my spots now. When I'm insufferable, I have my reasons.

That doesn't matter.

We ruined our best line that plays twice as much as they do.

Everyone tries to excuse the other stupid lines with "oh but the Kid Line!!" like the Kid Line is Stevens-Lemieux-Jagr.

The highest scorer on the Kid Line had 31 points (he got half of those with Kreider and Zibanejad) and they play 12 minutes a game.

I would rather have Kreider-Zibanejad-Lafreniere, probably the 5th or 6th best line in the NHL.

Ironically, Kakko is Stevens, Laf is Lemieux and Chytil is Jagr in the making.

It's not that 8 Mil Mayfield needs to come off the PP, it's that it needs to be driven into his brain that he can't do anything that will let the opposing team get a step on him. No shooting into shin pads. No trying to make difficult keep ins at the blue. No trying to carry the puck when you don't have support behind you. Just keep it simple.

But also I would have Miller out there in addition to Trouba but I would drill the same messages into him.

Then the problem is the kids aren't playing enough.
 
Have been a Turk guy , wanted him hired as soon as DQ was sht canned .Could play the kids line more YES , outside of that I like how he handles players and how much rope he gives them .He is also very even keel in every single interview , think that keeps the team calm and focused which is huge .

If someone has to be the guy that criticizes GG mid game so when we win you all mock them, i'll be that guy.

What an absolute dummy. Line 4 has been barely good enough. So you take Goodrow away so he can be on line 2, which is a useless line as is. Now line 4 is an absolute horror show, and have been responsible for a goal against and a pp.

The kids still look good, so you play them equal to line 4. They start the game and still end up with almost the least minutes.

We have a chance of getting to a Stanley Cup, and this coach is making this harder on purpose. Line 4 on an offensive draw off a commercial? GTFOH.

The coaching staff’s line management has been f***ing brutal the entire playoffs.

Not playing the kid line because of imaginary defensive deficiencies while the 4th line and 3rd d-pair give up goals against like it’s nobody’s business is a GD disgrace.

Maybe he should consider a career in PR. He says the right things to the media but can’t manage strategies or lines to save his life.
 
I don't even want to fight. Some of you GG defenders just defend a few things. Explain it to me so I can understand it.

1) 4th line ozone faceoffs ALL the time
2) Treating line 3 like it's line 4 minutes wise
3) Putting in Rooney over Hunt or Brodz
4) Trouba on PP2 (not that it mattered today cause we don't get PP's)
