Are they taking down 70% of the sign to reflect the actual amount he donated?

Black excellence scares you that much, huh? 🤔🤣🤣🤣

Always the frenchies’ fault, right?

Are you new here?

There are posters here lamenting that Subban would get negative messages when he scored. Maybe he got that on twitter, I dont use that but I remember HERE when David Desharnais played there was a time when game threads were overwhelmed by trolls and bashers who would whine during every shift and would cry and point every time he got a point or a goal, even in overtime. It was obnoxious and disgusting, and the mods did nothing, and even participated and encouraged it.

Believe me it wasn't "polite criticism" either. Those who criticized it were told to lighten up. Bunch of hypocrites. Apparently DD only played because he was french. And that is an acceptable statement here.

Very true. And that was really happening and not the invented outrage going on in here.

Yeah, this board has a pretty significant with anti-French xenophobia that has never been acknowledged.

How does it go both ways here particularly? With certain members of the media and some politicians, sure. But here? I don't see it at all.

...then you are failing to look objectively...and that's not a personal knock, because we all do it; Hell, I've gone too far on numerous occasions as others have on me over the years here...however, if it's an example you want, look up my postings either last year or two years ago (can't remember the exact date) when this particular issue came up and I explained then that it went both ways and told the stories of getting stabbed in the left bicep outside of Route 66 or having a pool cue broken over my head at Bunny's just for being Anglo & Military when I was stationed in Saint-Jean sur Richelieu...I was personally attacked here by a number of posters who literally called me a xenophobe for telling those stories when it was just to explain that it happens on both sides...we all take our sides and dig in...to pretend that it doesn't happen here is to be the Ostrich who buries their head too deep in the sand...

Scarlett Johansen playing the lead in Ghost in the Shell.
Al Pacino Scarface, Carlito's way.
The Dragonball movie
Johnny Depp Lone Ranger - played a Native American
Tilda Swinton Dr.Strange playing the Ancient One

Also, people can literally just google this and get hundreds of examples if they really wanted to know.
These are all varying degrees of bad.

The most hilarious/horrifying example belongs to the Last Airbender, where they made the aboriginal-coded people white, the Japanese-coded people Indian, and the Tibetan monks mostly white with one black guy in there. This movie gave rise to the term "Race bending," which is what we're talking about here.

However, I don't think the argument that "white people did it in the past" should excuse race bending in general. Diversity isn't about revenge. It's about diversity.

I think Hollywood is more racist to assume black characters don't have sufficient marketability on their own (Black Panther has shown that to be false) so that they feel they need to bend the existing IPs with an established audience to try and target the original demographic and the new one because they believe no one will go watch a movie about Anansi the trickster spider.

They also recently cancelled Children of Blood and Bone over at Disney because they're scared of new diverse IPs.

Can someone please explain to me why posters can't ask questions about Subban without being labeled a racist?

Yes, really...and the fact so many people don't know is kind of ironic.

There are countless examples really, it was just always accepted for white actors to portray whomever, regardless of race, no one bothered asking.

Ben Affleck is not latino...it didn't prevent Hollywood movie theatres in portraying him as Special Ops Agent Tony Mendes in the movie Argo.

I mean, I could go on and on here...the Ben Affleck example is fresh of mind because I just watched that movie last week and thought to myself, hmm...I bet no one flinched seeing Ben Affleck reprise the role of a Mexican-American.

I mean, Jake Gyllenhaal played the main character in Price of Persia for God's sake lol or Mickey Rooney played Mr. Yunioshi in the classic film Breakfast at Tiffany's lol.
John Wayne as Genghis Khan is like the best example ever lol.

Somehow your brain misfires and makes you equate someone mentioning that PKatrium may not have fulfilled his $10 million pledge to someone complaining about the color of a fictional character. I do not know the mental gymnastics needed to jump to RACIST! every time someone hurts your feefees.
No misfiring here. Your bullshit is transparent as hell.

I pledge to only scrutinize him 30% of the time... to reflect the actual amount of his pledge he got around to donating.
Why not scrutinize all the players that haven't pledged millions of dollars to charity?

EDIT: btw, my point wasn't directed at you specifically, just on his general treatment over the years.

We're not there yet.

Having questions about Subban is not the same as questioning Subban's character based on made up rumours.

Why don't you answer these question instead:

-Why after PK's trade the team went to the shitters?

-Why was Therrien fired a few months after the trade? Was he not right to through Subban under the bus afterall?

-Why did they trade the "captain" Pacioretty just a year later? Was he not the "chosen one"?

-Why did they force Subban into a bridge contract when they could of signed him at a barginbin price of 6.5 mil for 6 years (i think), maintain his RFA for 2.5 mill cap less then they did.

-Why did they force him into arbitration?

-Why did Molson not intervene before the arbitration process takes place?

Damn all the players who did not make pledges they never panned to honor!

There, that make some kind of sense to you?
So you're insinuating he actually made the pledge with no intention of honoring it?

Suggesting that you're in his head and are aware of malicious intent is pretty much the same as posters on here stating you're racist because you don't like him. No one here is psychic

I'm strictly talking about this board. I had to punk a piece of shit two days ago while walking down Mont-Royal because he made a comment while my wife (who is Anglo) and I were walking down the street speaking in English and didn't realize I was francophone/would catch his comment. It sucks. I'm sorry that you went through what you did and there's no excuse for it but I was only talking about HFHabs. It most definitely only goes one way here.

That's why i've found this Little Mermaid story quite funny...I mean, NOW that's a problem? Nevermind it's based on a fictional character lol

Anyways, again, sorry for going OT.

I can't begin to fathom how pathetic someone has to be to get triggered by the skin color of a character in a story in which skin color and ethnicity plays no part. It's a mermaid.

No, your quote was "Why not scrutinize all the players that haven't pledged millions of dollars to charity?" so I did.

I liked him quite a bit as a player and took a while to warm up to Weber when the trade went down.

I have written it many times now, I think he intended to honor his pledge. I also think he really wanted his name on a building so he made a pledge big enough to get that done. He got traded, fell behind on his projections and then kind of swept it all under the rug in 2019. The hospital won't call him out on it because he has been a great ambassador for them. I do hope he one day manages to honor his full pledge, though.

None of that changes the fact that pretending he donated $10 million at this point is silly.

...and you skimmed right by the point that it doesn't just go "one way" here; the posters who attacked me personally & called me a xenophobe, among other things, just for relaying the stories were on here, this Board, HFHabs...again, we all have our trenches that we dig into here, just like in Life...being a helluva lot more understanding is an issue for ALL of us...
