...and you skimmed right by the point that it doesn't just go "one way" here; the posters who attacked me personally & called me a xenophobe, among other things, just for relaying the stories were on here, this Board, HFHabs...again, we all have our trenches that we dig into here, just like in Life...being a helluva lot more understanding is an issue for ALL of us...

I have no idea what happened during those discussions so I can't judge. But your singular experience doesn't outweight the constant stream of bullshit that we've seen directed towards french players and the franchise over the years. It's not remotely comparable. That'd be like saying racism goes both ways in North America if a black guy once called a white guy a cracker. Sure, it's racist, but that doesn't mean the bullshit is equal on both sides.

Remembering back, PK pledged to raise ( not donate himself ) 10M for the childrens hospital..........
Why do you guys think he is done? Just because he no longer plays hockey?

Why can he not continue on with all his rich friends, continue to help raise more money?
He is 33 yrs old guys, not 83
He will still be very prevalent in the sporting world as he moves forward.....

...and this is EXACTLY why we can never have an actual discussion about it cuz BOTH sides take their ball and go home...yes, the Quebecois people used to have to endure ridiculous xenophobia from the rest of Canada; and that Time is in the past...now, it's BOTH sides and to pretend it isn't is literally denying fact...

No because he said it was 10 million over 7 years. It has been 7 years.

I've been pretty clear that I have an issue with people like you.
This is still a "you" issue.

You're too invested in this man, cill ax
But he was in the US in 2021! ha.

I mean this without any snark: Do you have some sort of reading disability? I went out of my way to say that what happened to you was terrible and shouldn't have happened and that my point was strictly related to this board. Why in the world are you still going on about society at large? I never brought that up.

...to show that the historic effect of the Societal xenophobia that once existed here in Canada is skewing your view, of this place in this instance...Xenophobia exists here, on HFHabs, from all angles...the fact that there happens to be more "non Quebecois" persons here who exploit it doesn't mean it isn't here from Quebecois persons as well...simple fact...if you can't see that, then there's no sense continuing this discussion...

I'm pretty sure this is a you issue, How much has been raised so far? Do you have any source for your acusations or just talking out of your ass?
This is typing not talking, sir.

I get pickles are lazy by nature so you probably missed the posts where I posted how much he raised.

I will type it again, slower this time so you can follow along.

His website used to have a section where he had a tracker. He pulled it down in 2019 and was at 30%

pktracker.jpg

He donated another 250k in 2019, 50k in 2020 and a whopping 0k in 2021.

In total he has donated 33% of the pledged $10 million as of 2021.

100% agree with Georges. f*** the French media and jealous personalities. Idiots couldn't appreciate the greatness of an exuberant offensive d who loved this city with all his heart. Circus media in this city but the French media is disgustingly bad.

Parts of Subban’s game annoyed me but I agree on this. The guy wanted to be a lifelong Hab and ambassador of the game. He should have had that chance IMO

Again, this is a "you" issue.

If this level of insanity could be explained then we may be able to achieve world peace.

Or maybe societal peace. This thread seems like a microcosm of the real world we're currently living in, where people fall victims to woke ideologies like CRT and see life through the prism of race. We're no longer discussing ideas, and it's obvious from the flaming replies you're receiving that have nothing to do with what you actually wrote.

Nowhere land
We're not there yet.

Having questions about Subban is not the same as questioning Subban's character based on made up rumours.

Why don't you answer these question instead:

-Why after PK's trade the team went to the shitters?

-Why was Therrien fired a few months after the trade? Was he not right to through Subban under the bus afterall?

-Why did they trade the "captain" Pacioretty just a year later? Was he not the "chosen one"?

-Why did they force Subban into a bridge contract when they could of signed him at a barginbin price of 6.5 mil for 6 years (i think), maintain his RFA for 2.5 mill cap less then they did.

-Why did they force him into arbitration?

-Why did Molson not intervene before the arbitration process takes place?
All these questions doesn't have a racist issue answer. Not really. There was a lot of gossips the Habs players were unsatisfied of Subby. He was too noisy, causing distraction. In a sport where players need concentration, most of them. A player making too much noise could have a different skin colour, the results would have been the same. It's just that Subby was causing distraction and he is black. It's a coincidence, I see no evidence of racism there.

Black players elsewhere in nhl teams didn't have that problem because they don't have the Subby personality. Because Subby is unique, he's not a random black, he is himself. PK is PK. And he was the best Habs player for 5 years. So when he got traded, I could understand the shock. Because he was sooo good and he was making a show. It's not funny for fans to lose such a spectacular player and after the team is poor and flat. But having the sadness to lose him and then amalgame an explanation with racism, it's a connection I'm not willing to take.

Clutch player

Spectacular performer

Probably not an ideal teammate, but who knows

Weber trade was a win for us

That about summarizes it for me

I salute him for a good career that exceeded expectations from his prospect days

Again,..................who has said he is done? Pretty sure they will let him continue on....and we all know he could do this tomorrow because he has the money.
He has continued to support this cause, even though a clown traded him OUT of the city he loved.

His own timeline?

Also - minimum? Yikes.

I can't wait to hear how he never said it was going to be in 7 consecutive years.

The star defenceman for the Montreal Canadiens will donate $10 million — minimum — to the hospital.

The horror, after being traded by a clown GM, he did not meet his timeline........................the people running the show will gladly be ok with him taking more time......just a hunch... Or maybe clown MB is on the hook for the rest after The Big Trade!! lol
Pk steal your girl? Just have to ask...

Lighten up big guy...............it's gonna be ok.

Sees title of thread, becomes curious and opens it up to the last page. Comments as to why anyone would waste time to minimize any contribution he has made to charity regardless of the final tally to date. Promptly backs away.

I think most regulars here know I’m generally even keeled, but I’ll just come out and say it.

PK the humanitarian is a class act. If any idiot hater would spend a couple minutes listening to Laraque, he tells a story of a pre-star PK taking the time to travel with Georges to Haiti after the massive earthquake that rocked the nation and spent a week helping where he can.

Oh, but the shame! PK may or may not have raised $10 million for a hospital in a city he no longer has any ties to!

Let’s ignore the $3 to $4 million he has raised. Let’s ignore the work his foundation has done for the hospital, including the matching of donations for cancer patients in March and other times he matched donations or personally participated in fundraisers.

BUT OH!!! That should be included in the millions he pledged so it shouldn’t count! Boo hoo, he only raised a few million! What a trash person for not giving MORE money.

Sure, ask the kids and the staff if they give a F**K!

And how about the kids? Other than the financial commitments, every time he comes back to town, he makes a stop at the hospital to see the kids.

Sure, I get it. It’s easier to just bring up all the bad, nitpick about somebody else’s time and money and call him a horrible person. Well, the only horrible people are the ones who feel the need to try to tear down a person who is a better human being than they are.

As if only french media had a select few idiotic and toxic personalities.

Simply saying « media » instead of « french media » would’ve sufficed.
Well no, because in my observations, the French media has been far more toxic. They're not toxic because they're French, they're toxic and happen to be on the French side. I'm just calling a spade a spade as far as I see it. If they were English, I would've labeled them as such.
