Seems he only donated another 50k since 2019.
He was at 30% in 2019.

Seems the hospital is good with it.

There are some incredibly nice and patient people there. I hope he comes up with the other 65% of what he pledged to get the PKatrium named after him.

Just not as tremendous as 10 million.

How would you quantify his time spent there and his constant work with those kids?
For a lot of these kids, just seeing PK at the hospital is worth millions.

Who cares whether it's 10M or 3M. The fact this guy continued, and still does, to get involved with the Hospital here after being traded is just incredible.

Meanwhile here you are, on your fainting couch, sending critical messages about a man who's helped raise millions for children..Seriously, what a very weird position to have..

Sounds like they playing race card as a type of crutch. An O.J.Simpson type maneuver. Subban's attitude reason his career ended like it did. Thought he was bigger than team, wouldn't play in team structure. Fights with teammates, turnover machine, slew footing dirty player. Why his career ended early, nobody would offer him a contract.

He had the skill to be a Chelios or Lapointe. But he cut his own career down. Not the colour of his skin.
Being done in by injuries does not justify this slanted attack on his character.

100% agree with Georges. f*** the French media and jealous personalities. Idiots couldn't appreciate the greatness of an exuberant offensive d who loved this city with all his heart. Circus media in this city but the French media is disgustingly bad.

Not about jealousy. How do you generate attention? Create controversy around something popular.
Cheap way for sure but that is how Montreal (mostly) French media have been for a long time. Small things are overanalyzed and blown out of proportion with speculations.

who cares, he led a life of luxury and has tens of millions of dollars, a life we could only dream of. This goes for PK or any other athlete that hangs em up.
He got money because he put his balls into a game and was drafted because he was one of the best on the ice. Young Subban should have been drafted earlier, if his name was Aaron White, he would been probably drafted top 10.

Yeah...who would ever think that race played a factor in how a black hockey player was viewed in the sport of hockey.

Unimaginable, Impossible...we all know hockey and tolerance go together like white on rice.

P.S. - "playing the race card" is an awful way to describe pointing out discrimination. It's reductive and serves only to make those who feel slighted, whether justified or not, feel guilty for feeling the way they do. I'd encourage you to examine your use of said terms.

Bro why you do me this dirty?

The reactions to your mere seeking of the truth in this thread is absolutely mind boggling.

We all saw what a pledge could mean in the Depp vs Heard trial lately.... The 10 mil pledge by Subban was optimistic, but probably much more attainable had he not been traded away, which is something he definitely did not foresee. I'm curious what's to come of this. Will the 10 mill ever be reached?

The PKult has an odd way of dealing with reality. The weaker ones default to calling someone who questions PKatrium a racist.

I believe he intended to raise the $10 million he pledged. I also believe he did what he had to do to get his name on a building. Drouin has raised about the same amount for CHUM by doing his golf tournament once a year without manipulating his name onto an atrium.

Nothing you said has any validity, but ok.

Acting like there's no racism in how PK is treated is a little naive, I think. Marinaro shockingly made a good point yesterday. What if he had been a flamboyant Quebecer? Oh wait, we had one of those. His name was Guy Lafleur, and this place almost venerates him as a god.

I'm not saying that the "race card" as one poster put it, should be able to shield someone from all constructive criticism (and I know that does happen sometimes in bad faith), but come on, man.

I was talking exclusively about the pearl clutchers who started screaming racist at me because I dared ask if he ever raised the money he pledged.

We also have had many french players who were bashed relentlessly. Go take a look at the Desharnais and Drouin threads, some people are obsessed. Brisebois. Etc. Imo the biggest problem with how PK was treated is that people didn't recognize his immense talent, because media focused on his bad plays and the coach was often throwing him under the bus while other players were barely held accountable.

Of course, it's evident there was racism in the way some people had irrational hate for him. I remember that guy Southern_Hab and many others shtting on him constantly for the smallest things.
As for putting the blame solely on french people though... Come on. The English literally violently conquered Natives and French, and discriminated against them and the Irish(and many others, like Italian and Japanese during WW2) for centuries, but French are somehow more racist. Sure, pal. I'll stop there not to derail but the sheer arrogance of Anglo-Canadians sometimes...

I think you might be getting a little broad in what you're attributing to me here. I was talking specifically about our management and the French media. French fans adopted PK just fine. If they hadn't, he would not have been as popular as he was.

The other players you mentioned were bashed relentlessly because they absolutely completely suck, so acting like they're in the same boat as PK is a little disingenuous.

As for your off-topic digression into extremely skewed history, I only have to say

Finally, I wouldn't really call myself an anglo Canadian, but being this awesome will come with a little arrogance I guess. Cheers, pal.

EDIT: I can add that the Toronto media weren't exactly nice to him when he was a Hab if that makes you feel better.
