I'm assuming you hit the coveted Wall of Champions, my friend? :P

Nope, the wall of losers. I've managed to tap the wall of champions twice so far though.

Also, Nim Cross was in my latest race, which I won. Bricks, et cetera.

To those unfamiliar with iRacing, Nim Cross is the chief steward, so basically he's in charge of reviewing protested incidents and so on.

You're a monster.

Albeit an entertaining monster, but... Dayum...

That's the whole point! To get the WORST outcome possible while still "saving" the galaxy. I'm gonna do as much damage as the Reapers. Also I really wanna see what the male version of Terminator Face looks like, because my current femshep sentinel's face looks nice and scary. Was playing her paragon, but I saw a roleplaying excuse to switch to completely renegade near the end of 1. I get way too much into character with this game.

I'm in the 2015/2016 season.

Danny Kristo is officially a 45 goal scorer for New Jersey.

It's their 60th game of the season.

wut

EDIT: Also, Avder, wow. That is hilarious.

I'm looking forward to it

Right now I'm punching through ME3 with my Sentinel. I have Tech Armor configured for 45% damage protection as well as Fortification as my bonus power set for 40% damage protection, that skills maximum. So in total that means I have 85% damage protection meaning I hardly ever need to use cover to recharge my shields. I just run and gun and most fights are over before they get me very close to health.

And then if I'm really not feeling like getting into cover, I can just tank using health as well. Lasts just as long as shield does, plus medi-gel lets me recover it at will.

And then with a 200% power recharge bonus from loadout and a 30% recharge bonus from Inferno Armor, that means even with the power recharge penalties from fortification and tech armor, I'm still running around with a 130% recharge bonus. Throw cooldown is 1.5 seconds, warp and overload are at 3, and cryo blast is at 1.75. Cryo blast is also worth getting in this game, unlike in ME2 where I didn't even have a point in it going into the final missions.

And if I ever need more damage protection I can just re-train my skills and make Tech Armor worth an even 50% for a total of 90%. Would make my effective shield and health HP go from 4300 to 6500 each, or in other words my total health would go from 8600 to 13,000. Cue the Vegeta it's over 9000 gif.

tl;dr: Mass Effect 3 Sentinels are walking ******* tanks.

Also I love the Disciple shotgun. Lightweight and it's got an INSANE knockback. Reallllly wish I could get it earlier in the game.

Damn near binned me Skippy en route to a 4th place finish in the 2K Cup today. Totally worth it. And ignore the commentator, there was no luck involved. ;)

Wait they livecast this stuff on the net?

Is this like the internet version of pro racing?

Yeah. The big races are broadcasted live by various people, such as Racespot TV, Apex Racing, Simrace.tv and Glacier TV.

The schedule includes Skip Barber UK&I Cup, World Cup, endurance events such as Masters of Endurance and NEO, big multiclass events like 24h of Daytona and, of course, the Oval and Road DWC (Drivers' World Championship) events.

Currently, I'm driving for Glacier Racing*, mostly in Skip Barber series, but my aim is to eventually compete at the highest level of simracing. There, I said it. Actually never said that out loud before. Nevertheless, I must take it one step at a time, so if I make my aim (top 10 in Div. 2 this season), I'll seriously consider moving on to Star Mazda, which is the next logical step in open wheelers. After that, it's either Indycar or F1 (which is the car used for Pro and DWC championships).

*One of the "big" names in iRacing, Glacier Racing is an all-Finnish team, home of 19 active drivers spanning across multiple series, including F1 DWC, GT3, World Sports Car Championship and Skip Barber F2000. Especially noted for their preference of powerful, heavy GT cars, such as Corvette GT1 and Ford GT.

It's quite funny, when I came back to iRacing, my aim was to become a good GT driver, not even dreaming of the highest level. I quickly found out that driving the GT3 class was not my strongest discipline. I mean, it's not that I can't drive them, it's just that I'm not as quick with them as I'd like to be, even with a lot of practice. Furthermore, my car of choice (BMW) is just not that fun to drive. Too much understeer, too much aerodynamics, and stupid traction control & ABS which pretty much have to be used if you don't want to end up in a wall.

So, I tried out the Skip Barber, which is the entry-level open wheeler, and fell in love after struggling at first. No nonsense, just an engine, a rudimentary chassis and little aerodynamics. Makes for good racing, and that's why some of the very best simracers drive in the series. I mean, guys like Job and Avery have DWC licenses. They could just practice F1 and race there and nobody would bat an eye. But they choose to drive in the Skippy as well. Tells you something of the car, and it's a good measuring stick, because you can't really change the setup of the car much, so it comes down to mano y mano instead of the technical stuff.

If you wish to follow the races live next time, the 2K World Cup is each Saturday 10 PM GMT/4 PM CT.

Nice catch. I don't know much about the handling of the Skip Barbers but I do know that catching slides in iRacing is not easy. (especially when the Wall of Champions is mere feet to your right)

Thank you.

I usually tend to step over my limits a lot in practice sessions (and races as well...), so I learned to control my car in all circumstances. Of course, there are moments when you simply cannot save it, but I have completed an overtake while on grass at 120mph. Having confidence in that you are the one controlling the direction is one of the essential cornerstones of my driving.

As for the Skippy... Well, imagine the Mazda MX-5 with a bit less weight. They are very similar in terms of top speed and general handling, only that the Skippy can take corners at higher speeds and feels more like a racing car. Driving philosophy in those cars is very similar: Slow in, fast out and keep up the speed. Like Solstice, MX-5 and Spec Racer, Skippy is a "momentum car".

Man, just get the car. Great racing, and awesome community.

I never did really care for the way the MX-5 drives. I only had iRacing for a short while, with that 3 month free thing, and I only bought one car in that time: the McLaren 12C GT3. I loved that car, personally.

Idk, I generally like faster cars more. I would probably be really intrigued by GT3 if it wasn't populated with idiots.

Allright, so pre-planning my Mass Effect "everything sucks and everybody dies" run, I think I've got a way to get as many people killed in Mass Effect 2 as possible:

[spoil]In order for Shepard to live through the suicide mission, at least two team members have to survive. With that in mind, I'm going with the two team mates who have the worst possible fates in Mass Effect 3: Jack and Morinth. Morinth will be turned into a Banshee that you get to kill on Earth, and Jack will be captured by Cerberus and turned into a Phantom that you get to kill during Cerberus HQ so long as you don't do Grissom Academy.

The hardest part of making sure only those two survive is finding a way to knock Miranda off. There are only two places in the run where she can be knocked off, and she must be disloyal for both: escorting surviving crew back to the Normandy, or being in Shepard's squad during the final battle. I do not want any of the Normandy's crew to survive, so I can not send a squadmate to escort them, meaning Miranda will be participating in the final battle, and will be dragging it down because she will not have her slam ability, which can be used to kill collector drones as the platforms approach. Her warp ability can be used to kill Harbinger when he's down to armor, as well as the final boss as the weak points are armor. Overload is essentially useless at this point, as are my engineers overload and AI hacking, so I won't even have a point in AI hacking at this point, and only one in overload.

The other squadmates will be disposed of as follows:

Grunt will never be let out of his tank, and Legion will be sold to Cerberus, so those two are gone right off the bat.

On approach the first check is the armor upgrade, which determines if Jack lives. I will install this upgrade so Jack lives.

Next the shields get checked. Because those will not be upgraded, I will lose a squad member based on a list. Kasumi is at the top of it, so she dies, loyal or not.

Finally the gun gets checked. Since that's not going to be upgraded, I'll lose another squad member. Thane is at the top of that list, so he is gone, loyal or not.

During the first stage of the base, you need to send in a vent specialist and select a fire team leader. If the vent specialist is a loyal Tali, Kasumi, or Legion AND the fire team leader is a loyal Garrus, Miranda, or Jacob, the vent specialist will live. I don't want that, so I send my Loyal Garrus into the vent and have my disloyal Tali lead the fire team. Garrus bites it at the door.

Next comes the long walk. I have a chance to knock off up to three squad members, or two squad members and whoever is left of the Normandy crew. I want the latter.

First you have to pick a biotic specialist. The optimal choices for that are a loyal Jack or a loyal Samara/Morinth. If you pick either of those, Shepard's squad will be intact. Any other biotic or a disloyal Jack/Samara/Morinth results in the death of a squad member. Since both Jack and Samara are loyal, I can't use them, so I'll assign Miranda to ensure that someone from my squad dies.

I'll be taking Zaeed and Morinth with me because Zaeed appears on the death list much higher than Morinth. In fact Morinth is the last person eligible to die. Zaeed dies and Morinth lives. Also Zaeed does the best weapon damage of any squadmate and Morinth has one of Throw/Pull, which kill husks instantly, as well as Dominate, which can be used to turn collector drones and abominations against other enemies. This part of the base should be a cake walk.

I'm not sending an escort with the Normandy crew, so they're dead. Also if I do enough missions between the abduction of the crew and the suicide mission, all I will find is Dr. Chakwas. Everyone's dead already.

Then finally I have to select who leads the second fire team. Choosing Miranda, loyal or disloyal, means she will survive. Garrus and Jacob will also survive, but only if loyal, they die otherwise. Anyone else dies regardless of loyalty. I choose a disloyal Jacob and doom him to death.

At this point all that's left is the final battle. Any disloyal squad mate you take with you to fight the boss will be killed. Loyal squad mates will live. As explained earlier, the only way to get everyone I want killed is to bring disloyal Miranda to this fight. I want decent firepower as well as a pull or throw, so I take Morinth as well.

Jack, Tali, and Mordin stay behind to hold the line. The way the game figures out who lives and dies is to assign each squad mate a point value based based on their defensive strength and loyalty. All three of Jack, Mordin, and Tali have a defensive strength of zero, but Jack and Mordin are both loyal so they are worth 1 point each. The game takes each squad members point value and averages it out to find an average point value. In this case it's 2/3. The game then decides how many die by that point value and the total number of squad mates holding the line. With three squadmates, and an average of 2/3, two of those three will die.

The game then checks a list to see what order squad mates die in. In this case the order is Mordin, Tali, and Jack. However, disloyal squad mates always die before loyal squad mates, so the order becomes Tali, Mordin, and then Jack. Good night Tali and Mordin. I could also have Tali loyal at this point if I wanted as an average of 1 even will also result in two deaths, and Jack is still third on the list.

So, in the end I end up with a Normandy crewed by all of Myself, Joker, Jack, and Morinth.

Suicide mission indeed.

******* Shepard, Psycho Engineer is a ****ing monster.[/spoil]

Damn that was a long post.

There's a lot of good stuff out there at the moment.

Dying Light is crazy fun, I'm hearing Evolve is super fun -- even if they're handling pre-launch DLC as bad as any game I can think of, Darkest Dungeon just got Early Access on Steam.

So much stuff, I didn't have time for this much before I had a kid, I certainly don't, now...

I'm always tempted to buy zombie games but never do. Did you ever play State of Decay? That one always intrigued me.

I don't know anything about Evolve.

I have State of Decay, but it hates my GPU, so I have never been able to play it.

Dying Light really strikes me as a parkour game that happens to use zombies as it's foible to get you to run around. The combat is almost entirely avoidable (and you're even encouraged to do so, to a degree), but you HAVE to want to climb around, jump rooftop to rooftop, etc.

Looking for a gaming headset for my PC as I'm tired of talking into my laptop mic and all the background noise and crappy quality that goes along with that while I'm on TeamSpeak. Willing to spend a maximum of maybe $125, though any suitable mic at a lesser price would of course be acceptable. A few requirements I have:

USB connection, not audio jack because I think my audio jack is a little broken and I like USB connection better anyway

Volume control either on the headset itself or along the cord somewhere

Extended microphone, not on the earphone itself (not sure the exact term, but you know, mic out in front of my face, not up at the ear)

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm not very informed on the more technical aspects as you probably already figured out with some of my wording so if there's something on the headset that needs a bit more explaining on what it is/does please tell me.

I've been very happy with my Logitech G35, been using these for the past 3 years now. The only minus side I can say is that after ~2,5 years the fake leather coating on the cups will start to tear a bit. I just ripped it all off and the cloth underneath is just as comfy.

USB, good quality, durable, looks decent, has hotkeys for muting, volume control wheel, three programmable hotkeys and the microphone pole has also a visual indicator (red led) if you have mute on.

I have the same headset. Overall I think it has been good. Only problem like you said is the leather tearing. But definitely think it is worth the money.

Logitech headsets ranging from the G430 to G35 to G930 would all be suitable. I personally have the G430 and it's absolutely fine for me. It has cloth cups too, not leather like the higher end ones which will peel off over time.

However the G430 is wired, while the other two are wireless. G430 has the dongle on the cord for volume control, whereas the others have it on the headset itself.

Mic quality is pretty good for cheaper headsets. Won't be studio quality, but it's not that bad. Good enough for TeamSpeak anyway.

Really it comes down to whether you want wireless or not, and how much you wanna pay. The G430 cost anywhere from $50-60, G35 ~$90, and the G930 ~$110.

Broke down and bought a Xbox One on Sunday....NHL 15 is...meh...

I still think that the actual gameplay is fantastic. My buddy and I play head to head constantly and it is a ton of fun.

But everything else is not so good. I don't like having to manually adjust every line and every scenario in HUT. Last year you could automatically adjust, no? Be a pro is trash. Can't believe they haven't patched some of that, oh well.

Pretty much the only reason I got it was to play a buddy of mine in DC when we get a chance. Tried playing BAP and was disappointed as all get out. Be a GM wasn't much better. But I'll use it for online play and call it a day I'm sure. We don't play with NHL teams when we play either so its a little more fun in that you need to figure out who some of the good players are in other leagues :biglaugh:
