Winnipeg went to final four 7 years ago and has won exactly one round since then. Toronto has won one round in the last 7 years, too. Yet Toronto gets roasted for their lack of success while Winnipeg does not.

Winnipeg went to final four 7 years ago and has won exactly one round since then. Toronto has won one round in the last 7 years, too. Yet Toronto gets roasted for their lack of success while Winnipeg does not.

I think winnipeg gets less criticism because of the expectation factor. Even when they were at their most promising point, there was always controversy about who is happy and who is unhappy.

The jets expectations continued to decline as guys like byguflien decided to quit hockey, or guys like pld and trouba tried to force their way out. It's a market where you generally cannot keep guys as long and therefore the window may be shorter than you hope.

It's not to say every single player is going to leave, but they have had pretty much every year a disgruntled player trying to leave, whether it's a vet or a rfa, or even a prospect.

The fact that they have kept this train on course is a testament to the talent pool they had accumulated starting around 2017, but it's been a bumpy ride as far as talent retention.

While I don't think their play is sustainable, Noesen and Cotter have been phenomenal for the Devils. Sherwood has also been great for the Cancuks. These were the types of players we should have targeted in the offseason.

NHL is not an easy league…

And you don't learn to play in it by playing in the AHL. There's only one place you can learn NHL speed and it's in the NHL. What you learn in the AHL is to become a pro, the more physical side of pro hockey and it's also a stop gap in between junior speed and nhl speed. But you don't learn to play against McJesus and Crosby by playing in the AHL. 90% of young players will struggle at first in the NHL even if they are making their debut at 24.

We would have lost this game 3-1 minimum even if our team of 18 players would have played "as well" as SJ. They allowed 44 shots but i assume none of them was a high danger scoring chances because apparently NHL goalies are supposed to block only half of those.

Well somehow their goalies make saves while ours never seem to make that key saves at key moments.

Yep. Price consistently beat better teams in the playoffs. As impressive as his regular season accomplishments are, he's even better in the postseason. First player over 10m to win multiple postseason rounds I believe... or at least he used to be and did it on some brutal clubs. Worth every dollar.

Him leading the club to the finals against those clubs in 21 was insane. HOF without a doubt and I hope he gets in first ballot. Only four can go in next year: Thornton, Keith, Chara, Price, Getzlaf and Rask. I think he makes it over Getzlaf and Rask but it's not going to be easy. He's got better Hart finishes than Getzlaf and better Hart and Vezina finishes than Rask - and he beat Rask h2h in a huge playoff upset. He's got a shot at first ballot but it won't be easy, that HOF class is stacked.

Helleybuck is a great goalie and needs to figure it out in the postseason. I think he'll do it sooner or later, he's too good not to.

I'm not sure why WPG has been unable to put it together but I'm glad they didn't punt and 'rebuild' and tried to keep at it.

The best part of this season is watching Ovechkin still bringing it at 39. Inexplicably, it's now entirely possible he overtakes Gretzky this season. We're watching a legend.
