The trial for five players on the Canadian 2018 world junior hockey team charged with sexual assault will begin on April 22, 2025, a judge ruled on Tuesday.

The Superior Court jury trial is set for London, Ont., and is expected to take eight weeks, immediately following the selection of the jury. Judge Bruce Thomas, who has presided over most of the pre-trial hearings for the case, determined the trial date during a virtual meeting with the Crown and defence attorneys on Tuesday in London. An alternative trial date in September 2025 was rejected by the judge.

If Vilardi has finally broken out then the Jets likely win the President's Trophy. Vilardi has been so injury prone over his career, though. He only played 47 games last season. He's currently on pace for a 70+ pt season. That would be a game changer for Jets.

Connor, Shit-filet, Perfetti (who's looking at hitting 70ish points, too), Neiderreiter, Ehlers & Vilardi is a quality top 6. Their 3rd & 4th lines play hard & tough led by Lowry.

D group is OK, but Helleybuck is on pace for a record type season.

Vilardi is 25. Dach is 23. He has a lot of same issues as Vilardi: injury prone, poor defensively, over passes the puck, & being switched constantly through all 3 forward positions.

Jets have settled him into the center positionally. Hopefully Dach can grow into his role, too.

I wouldn't care about the president's trophy, and I'd try resting hellebyuck more often this year and see if that helps him keep his level in the playoffs.
