Don't do it! I tried the Beta and was really glad I did before buying, because it was awful. Reviews were atrocious, too. I'd been planning on preordering it because I loved NFS:MW and Burnout Paradise, and it was clearly trying to be like those, but it just fell flat. I'm glad I saved my money (and got Forza Horizon 2 instead, because it's the real successor to those open-world games I mentioned).

Any of you EarthBound fans played Mother 3? It was kind of divisive but IMO as a huge fan of the series, it was even better than EB in pretty much every way. Great mechanics, beautiful animation, great music, well-written, and packs a serious emotional punch.

The fan translation is top-notch, too--probably better than what Nintendo of America would've put out, honestly.

Not really an RPG fan at all, but decided to try Mother 3 a while back (I think it was that one, pretty sure it was the one with Lucas). I probably got two hours in but it didn't really hold my interest too much. Controls are always harder on a tablet, but not a huge deal for this game obviously. I don't know, it probably gets better down the way. I didn't dislike it, but just didn't do too much for me.

Never played Earthbound if that wasn't obvious.

Yes. Awesome game. The ending definitely got to me too as well. The Mother series are pretty much my favorite RPG because they combined the harsh reality with some clever humor story-wise and made a pretty awesome battle system as well. The concept of physical attack combos based on the beat of the music in Mother 3? ****ing awesome.

I keep forgetting how aggravating earning the first 20 levels or so in Mass Effect are, what with **** armor, **** health regeneration, **** shield boost and barrier, and **** cooldowns.

Wish there was an achievement bonus that would just let you start a new character at 20.

iRacing Masters of Endurance round 3 is underway at Spa-Francorchamps. I'm racing for Marlboro Motorsports, and we are currently a lap behind after 1½ hours, which is not bad considering we lost 40 extra seconds during our first pit stop. My stints will be from 9-10 PM EET, 4-6 AM, 10-11 AM, 1-2 PM and 4-5 PM. We have 4 drivers, so it will be 6 hours each.

If you're interested or really, really bored, you can follow the race live on MoE website.

Paragon Shepard:

Warns looters to GTFO.

Makes a point to steal every last credit from every safe, datapad, and desk drawer he comes across.

I love this game.

Vanguard is fun. Got to Mass Effect 2. My durability is completely out the window, but Charge is a lot of fun...when it works. Need to figure out what I'm taking as my weapon spec when I get to the collector ship. The Claymore looked nice, but from what I've read, it's point-blank only, and only one shot per clip. I'm playing the Vanguard point-blank to low-medium, so I'm going with the Eviscerator for now. Thinking I might go AR since I had 160 extra bioware points after getting some DLC and got the firepower pack. I hear the assault rifle that comes with it, the Mattock, is pretty darn awesome.

Then again I might just go with sniper rifles again....because there is **** in this game that simply can not be taken out safely from anywhere but long range. Then again the Mattock might be able to nail that need down as well. Hmm.

Shoutout to Victorious Secret since I met him playing destiny with a bunch of other HFers we both knew.

Anyways, yeah, my Internet cut out and since you weren't on my friends list, I couldn't get back in the party. Sorry

Vanguards in Mass Effect 3 are what I fantasize about being in my head when I'm really pissed off. A violent force of unheard of destruction.

[spoil]Charge+Nova+Maxed Incendiary Ammo+Shotgun = **** just keels over and dies within moments of it coming within targeting distance.

My loadout is Disciple Shotgun + Tempest SMG + Viper Sniper Rifle. 162% recharge bonus with that loadout believe it or not. Using the Blood Dragon armor because power damage and shield bonuses. Think I'll keep it even when I get my choice of one of the elite Cerberus armors because extra recharge bonus at this point is pointless, and the one with 30% power damage only has 10% shield boost and a 10% shield recharge speed bonus. I recharge my shields by charging, so the shield recharge bonus is useless to me.

I hardly use any skills besides charge and nova. Occasionally I'll use reave or pull to set up a biotic explosion from charge on a particularly tough enemy like an adjutant in the Omega DLC, but otherwise it's just charge, unload two shots, charge again, unload two more shots, reload cancel into charge, unload two shots, etc... I just get up close and personal with everybody, and considering half of my shotgun pellets blow up for 150 AOE damage thanks to the explosion bonus from rank 6 incendiary ammo, everything just ****ing melts.

It is so satisfying to come around a corner and see a Cerberus Engineer setting up a turret 50 feet away and getting to say NO YOU DONT! a second later with charge+shotgun combo.[/spoil]

I am having so much fun with it.

So Dragon Age Inquisition.

Dragon hunting in this game is fantastic. Seriously amazing. There are ten in the game and I have killed two. The first Dragon was seriously one of the most amazing things I have ever had the pleasure of doing in a video game. It was just straight up epic. The music playing, the Dragon being so powerful that I had to micromanage my entire party, actually using a ton of strategy to beat it...just fantastic. Plus, failing three times before finally beating the beast really added to it.

I found the second Dragon last weekend and got my ass kicked pretty handily after a five minute fight. Decided to go grind/do a few other missions until I leveled up high enough to beat it. While doing that, I found the third Dragon and got beat so badly it surprised me. Like, not even a minute long fight.

I was bragging to my gf about the Dragon fights so I had her sit down to watch me kill the second one. It was basically a giant punching bag. Hardly did any damage, hardly did anything. Took me like 8 minutes to kill it, but it wasn't even a fun fight. Really disappointing.

Hopefully the rest of the Dragons are more like the first rather than the second.

Yeah I did most of the dragons at the end...maybe not as fun since it wasn't as much of a challenge. But I got so frustrated at the first one in the Hinterlands that I didn't want to die anymore

Does anyone play any of the MMO's? I was a WoW player long ago and I've finally bought a new computer, looking to get into a new MMO and thinking either Guild Wars 2 or Neverwinter. Looking for some recommendations.

I wish Destiny could have held my interest. I beat the main story and then couldn't believe that the only thing I could do was just re-play the same missions over and over and over again.

I played EVE for about 5 years. It's a great game if you've got a good group of friends to play it with and you're into large scale player vs player combat and sci-fi space battles.

The issue is getting up to speed. You don't grind skills in it, you train them over time. What this means is that if you just make a new character you're years behind other people. That's fine tho, as it's better for someone to start out in small ships and move their way up slowly.

You can buy characters, however, with in-game currency. But saving up that much currency can take quite a long time.

My advice is unless you really love the sci-fi fleet battle aspect or have a good group of friends who already play it, consider something with a much lower learning curve and lag time behind established characters.

I went back to WoW towards the end of panda-land, I'm having a lot of fun with the new xpac.

I've got a few friends that play FFIX, and I'm hearing a lot of good things about it.

There's plenty out there. ESO is going free-to-play as well, I think?

So ... made a drunk purchase last night with Dying Light. Buying games online is a terrible idea, it's far to easy to buy a brand new game. Generally like to wait for some reviews, but so far it's pretty good and I'm not complaining.

Also picked up Grim Fandango remastered. One of my all time favorites.

My Xbox One's graphics card melted or something so I had to send it in to get repaired. In the meantime, I went back to NHL 14 and my 360.

Just got to the 2015/2016 season and Patrick Kane and John Toews both became UFAs. Toews went to Tampa Bay and Kane went to Dallas. Chicago then replaced them with...Carl Hagelin.

So in the next week or two I'm going to start another run of Mass Effect as an Engineer. Specifically as psychotic engineer with a few gears loose. Going to go for maximum carnage and body count. Here's how:

[spoil]So the background I'm going to go with for this male engineer is going to be Earthborn/Sole Survivor for maximum prior mental damage. He's gonna be a space racist. Hates every race openly, but harbors a certain lust for Asari because well, obviously, but still doesn't trust them.

In ME1 I'm going to do as much renegade **** as possible. When I get to the Citadel I'm gonna get Wrex first and make as much mischief as possible and then when I leave and Garrus asks to join I'm going to tell him to **** off. I'm going to romance Ashley during the game and make sure I pick up Liara prior to getting to Virmire. Gonna kill the infected colonists on Feros as well as Shiala. Gonna kill the Rachni queen on Noveria. Then when I get to Virmire I'm going to shoot Wrex myself over his genophage ********. I'm also going to leave Ash behind to die, and make sure I never talked to Liara even once so there is no active romance heading into ME2. I'm going to kill the council and replace it with the all human version. I'll do just enough side quests to hit level 50 before I finish the game. The one thing I'm not going to do differently (if it's even an option with the all-human version of the council) is I'm still gonna install Anderson as councilor because not even a psychotic, mentally warped Shepard likes Udina. Seriously **** that backstabbing politically ambitious **** head.

In ME2 it's going to get even better. Not going to do any loyalty missions except for Kasumi (as an engineer I'm going to ****ing need that Locust SMG), Jack (shes psychotic and I'm going to romance her and want her to survive to ME3), and Samara (gonna kill her and recruit Morinth because psychotic Asari). I'm not even going to bother recruiting Thane. If I do Tali's loyalty mission I'm going to turn over the evidence to Admiral Xen. I'm going to sell Legion to Cerberus as well, and never open Grunt's tank. Gonna do the Arrival mission just to blow up a Batarian colony myself.

When I get to the collector base I'm going to use the wrong people as specialist and fire team leader. I'm also going to do enough missions between the collector abductions and the collector base to make sure that when I get there all I find is a pissed off Dr. Chakwas, and I'll have a disloyal squad member escort her back to the ship so said squad member gets killed. I'm going to blow up the base and tell the Illusive Man to go **** himself.

IDEALLY I'll come out of it with only Jack and Morinth intact, but I might make sure Zaeed survives because then I can do his loyalty mission post-collector base and take the paragon path and kill Zaeed myself. Regardless I am going to make sure that Garrus, Tali, Miranda, and Jacob all die somehow at minimum. Going to do enough stuff to hit level 30 by the time it's over.

Then in Mass Effect 3 it gets even worse. Treat Kaidan like **** on Mars and then never visit him in the hospital. Dissuade EDI and Joker from becoming a couple. Never show up to help at Grissom Academy, meaning Jack gets taken by Cerberus. Trick clan Urdnot into believing the genophage is cured when I infact sabotaged it. When Cerberus invades the Citadel I'm going to take down Kaidan myself on the way to killing off Udina. Then since there is no Tali or Legion, I'll be dealing primarily with Admiral Xen and some generic geth construct. I'm going to let the Geth win and destroy the Quarian fleet.

Once I get to Cerberus HQ, I get to kill Jack and Legion myself because I sold Legion to Cerberus and I let Jack get captured by Cerberus by not showing up at Grissom Academy.

Going to make sure I do the bare minimum as far as war assets goes, because when I get to earth I want it all to go straight to hell. Cortez gets his ass killed first of all. Then I get to kill Morinth because she's been turned into a Banshee. My two squadmates, likely Liara and Javik, will get killed in the final push by Harbinger. Then when I get to the Citadel and talk to the Intelligence, I will choose the destroy option. With War Assets down to the bare minimum, this will result in earth being destroyed, along with the Reapers, Geth, and EDI.

End result:
Rachni species destroyed.
Ashley Dead
Wrex Dead
Council Dead
Samara betrayed and killed.
Tali disloyal.
300,000 Batarians killed when a mass relay gets blown the **** up.
Most ME2 squad members killed in the collector base.
Collector base destroyed, ensuring that the low-war asset choice at the end of ME3 is destroy instead of control.
Krogan species doomed to extinction with fake genophage cure dispersed.
Quarian species annihilated over Rannoch.
Jack and Legion killed in Cerberus HQ
Cortez and Morinth killed on Earth.
Javik and Liara killed on approach to Citadel conduit.
The Geth species, EDI, and Earth itself annihilated when the Crucible is used.
Shepard dies in the explosion.

Oh, and I'm not gonna do the Citadel DLC, because ******* Shepard, Psycho Engineer doesn't believe in shore leave. And yes I'm really gonna name him that. Not asterisks, but the B word that means "illegitimate child".[/spoil]

I'm in the 2015/2016 season.

Danny Kristo is officially a 45 goal scorer for New Jersey.

It's their 60th game of the season.

iRacing stories, part whatever:

Me: "So how the hell do you enter the 3rd chicane in 3rd gear?"
Club Finland captain: "Well, you got to brake a little earlier, then aim for the high curb just right, but straighten your wheel before you hit it or you will die. Also, make sure to stamp the throttle just at the right time just before, or you will die. Then aim for the white curb on the exit to the left, but don't hit it, or you will get loose, hit the wall and die. Then again, you can do as you did before, enter it with 2nd, but you'll lose up to .1 seconds that way."
M: "Right."

*tries*

Me: "My right side wheels are 5 inches closer to the chassis than they were before, but at least the suspension should be OK..."
