maybe they confused Gaudreau for K Hayes??

good to see what Kevin Hayes can do in this thing, very highly touted and not going to sign with the Hawks so this kid is going to have a ton of suitors.

also pretty much figued Peter Mueller would be on this team since his quotes of coming back to the NHL. Good for him and I wish him the best.

this team like always is going to have a tough time on paper scoring goals...hopefully we get some top 6 players to join up like Stafford, etc because it isn't looking great.

I like that young mobile defense though :handclap:

Well this is basically a U23 team that many posters here have created theory threads on. Smith and Jimmy Hayes are 24, and of course Stapleton, Petry and Mueller are over 25, but otherwise the rest of the players on the team are all born in the 1990s.

Wow, this lineup looks even worse than last year. A bunch of borderline NHLers/AHLers, Euro-based players, collegiate players.

Unless the open spots are going to be filled with elite players/NHL regulars, you'll have to think about how to stay up in the Elite division.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

Here's the team last year

The only really missing from the third place team from that tournament for this team is a high end center like Stastny a strong goalie and an elite D like Faulk. Otherwise this year's team is about the same but it's more fun at least to see some younger talents get a chance to wear the jersey. Otherwise the 2013 team was a bunch of border line NHL players, Euros and collegiate players.

Update on Bjugstad:

@rinkside: #FlaPanthers Bjugstad was a candidate for Team USA, but said he wasn't sure about going because it conflicted with graduation at U. of Minn.

@rinkside: #FlaPanthers Bjugstad finished his degree at Minnesota last summer. He noted his Mom really wanted him to walk at graduation. :)

This team looks horrible

Well if you want anymore of an indictment that US players really don't give a **** about this tournament, there it is.

The timing and location of this tournament most years just isn't very enticing. No offense to Belarus, but come on.....

Any news on Okposo? Did he already decline? Will USA leave few spots open for players from first playoff round?

He's injured and said he couldn't have played down the stretch for the Islanders even if they were in the playoff hunt. I'd imagine he declined on that basis alone not to mention he has a young child and the disappointment of not making the Olympic team.

Yes they will. Typically they seem to have around 3 spots available at that time.

wouldn't be surprised if Shayne Gostisbehere will be added to this team after his amazing season. would love to see more of him on the big ice no doubt!

Gostisbehere is not an option until Philly's playoffs are over as he's heading to Adirondack (AHL) until their season ends (they are out of the playoff hunt) and then joining the Flyers.

His NHL contract doesn't kick in until next year so he isn't eligible for the playoffs (though he will practice with the team). If he gets an invite I'm sure the team would let him go. They let Noebels play with Germany last year when he was up for the playoffs. I guess it comes down to if USAH wants to add a college guy over an NHL defenseman. I know Trouba played last year, but he is a different case. Would love to see him play though.
