I would really like to see Staffod, Colin Wilson, and David Booth/Higgins step up and play for this team. These guys are all solid players and would be great to have.

I would love to see Higgins on this team as well... does anyone know if he was given an invite? As for Booth.... meh, not so much. ;)

...Cory doesn't play who the hell do we have for goalies??

Why would Schneids decline an invitation? Does it have anything to do with the Olympics??

He probably has his daughter's classmate's birthday party to attend.

Glad to see that Smith is going to be there. I harbored a secret hope that he would have gotten an invite for the Olympics. He'd just been so damn impressive every time that he showed up for the US that I felt he'd be the ideal 13th/14th forward.

yeah we are screwed offensively..

Miele is a solid kid just cant crack the NHL, and McDonald has very limited skills but has a big heart and a tough kid...

knew it would be bad, but not this bad offensively..

Craig Smith might be seeing a hamstring pull by the weekend as he might want to rethink this...

"Team USA now has 10 forwards, seven defensemen and one goaltender on its roster. The maximum roster size is 25, which includes three goaltenders and 22 forwards and defensemen"

So the remaining players will more than likely be off a roster of a team that gets eliminated.

Possibly Tim Thomas, Nate Thompson or Goligoski. Did not see any other players from teams I know are getting eliminated pretty quickly.

Could the US team only bringing 7 defenseman ?

Additional names would likely include their top possible target in Tyler Johnson. Other options include JT Brown, Matt Carle, Ryan Callahan and Erik Cole but the latter two would definitely say no.

I wonder if Minnesota gets eliminated if Parise would say yes...I know he played the Olympics, but he's one of the few I could see wanting to go anyways (along with Jack Johnson). If there's even a slight possibility for Parise... (Pominville would be another potential addition who would be solid).

Parise has three month old twins so I highly doubt USAH would even be able to finish asking him to play before he declined. Coyle would be the only likely option from the Wild.

I would add Brown, Johnson, Goligoski, Thompson and Coyle if they were interested.

Matt Carle I seem to feel would say no.

What about Shayne Ghostisbehere? Adirondack season is over and I think Flyers are not planning to play him in the play-offs so they could let him go to play for USA if they are interested in him. That would be great.

That would be great, especially for every other team in Group B.

I don't think they would do that after already putting Jake McCabe on the team. Might be too young. Then again, they do seem intent on reuniting that WJC Gold squad...just waiting for the invite to Connor Murphy...

Shame, I used to like Latvia
In case you don't get it - most Europeans actually care about IHWC. It's not about testing your reserves or taking a look at your prospects, but about winning. The World Champs is the end goal, not a means to something else.

So if you're sending a bunch of collegiate players with pretty much no pro experience to Belarus, that is great news. It will make a great tournament with even matches between most teams.

Teams like Kazakhstan or Belarus can beat the US with a roster like this.
