at least we know we will be getting someone out of this group: Dubinsky, Jack "MF" Johnson, Foligno, Atkinson, Skille, Wisniewski, Umber....yeah nevermind!

I can see Dubinsky and Atkinson coming for sure. Dubinsky was likely one of the last guys decided on for the Olympics and if he wants a sniff for the 2016 World Cup (if it happens) then coming on board now will be huge for him and this team.

Atkinson seems like a lock and was a huge target for me. Atkinson, Tyler Johnson, Charlie Coyle, or Paul Stastny were my big 4 hopefuls depending on who won or lost. If Minny loses I can see Coyle coming no doubt, and if the Avs lose Stastny could come as he loves to play in this tournament Olympics or not.

I see a lot of solid players still out there that are young enough and skilled enough to help us out. If the Sharks flop, I would be anything we have our goalie in Stalock.
 
another reason why I love hockey and Cam Atkinson:

I cannot post the link but look up Cam Atkinson buys tickets for Columbus fans and check out the story. Fans were camping out all night to get tickets to game 6 in the rain and Cam heard about it, drove there and took out money from his ATM and handed the fans waiting $40.00 each to buy their tickets...are you kidding me?? how awesome is that!

then he gives out a practice stick to one of the fans as well. it was a smaller group of fans but for him to personally drive there, meet with the group, physically hand them money shows just how awesome of a person he really is. I hope he joins up for this team again, we need him badly.

Going with the slight assumption that Thomas shows up. It leaves us one more forward spot and one more goalie.

I hope we hold out until at least Thursday. We hope the Wild win and then get Stastny. Or we take Dubinsky or Coyle.
 
that defense is very solid, obviously our biggest strength.

fingers crossed for Thomas and Stalock.

was hoping Abdelkader wasn't the guy we got because I wanted two of Atkinson, Dubinsky, Coyle, and Stastny...so now that only leaves one spot open for a top 6 forward.

I don't mind the forward group to be honest. Not a lot of huge NHL names but that isn't really necessary for this tournament. There are a lot of smaller skill guys that will be flanked by larger, physical players.

Good additions. Really excited to see DeKeyser out there.

Jimmy Howard also officially declined his invitation.
 
We won't win the tournament, but I think a certain doomsdayer who thought this team was relegation bait will be very wrong.

Yes, relegation doesn't sound very realistic anymore. But mostly due to Switzerland, Germany and most of the other 'smaller' teams sending their B teams to Minsk, which I was hoping wouldn't happen despite this being an Olympic year.

Still, I wouldn't be too surprised if you wouldn't make the play-offs.

It wouldn't be shocking, but we should be able to finish top 4 out of

Finland
Russia
Switzerland
Belarus
Germany
Latvia
Kazakhstan

It might be tough with Belarus having the home ice advantage, but this team isn't much worse than usual.
 
This US team is much better than being sent to the relegation bracket. All teams are pretty much sending so called "B teams".

Defense looks great and US Hockey is giving a chance to some young and up n coming talent. Got the right coach as well.
 
It's a shame they named most of the roster so early now that we have all these really good guys becoming available. Wonder what the point of that was, it's not like they've been playing any exhibition games or anything. Have they even been practicing together?
 
Hopefully they can get a good goalie and play tight defense because I don't think the offense will be there for this group.

Hopefully the team can add Thomas and Stalock in net now. Stalock is a UFA so there's that hurdle but I would probably prefer him as the starter. I'd be thrilled if Stastny or Pavelski wanted to play but I think it's more likely they add one of Atkinson, Dubinsky, or Nieto.

My only hope with Stastny is that he seems to be a pretty big fan of playing in the tournament. He didn't play in 2010, but one can hope. Stastny's also a UFA so I'm guessing he won't make it.

If not I want Nieto.
