Murray-Rielly would make a fun to watch pairing. Murray was used as an anchor for James frickin' Wisniewski all season and I'd hope Rielly's defensive prowess is a bit better than his so it could work.

Duchene still isn't 100% from his MCL injury so he's very unlikely to be an option.

I hope MacKinnon and O'Reilly are both considered. IMO, they're better than all of the forwards currently on the team. No offense to those other guys or the fans of those teams.

As far as I know this team hasn't even had one on-ice practice yet..some are skating on their own, Kadri practiced with the Knights a few days ago...so they'll all meet up in T.O. this weekend to fly off to Switzerland, have one practice, play an exhibition game and then fly to Minsk to start the tourny. That's preparation I tell you!! commitment.

I think Canada is short of a star player or two to be considered favorites this year.
As for now I have Russia as the favorites ahead of Canada

With the Flyers being knocked out. Giroux, Simmonds, Mason?

Goalies are set with Reimer, Scrivens and Justin Peters, so no room for Mason. Giroux is highly unlikely given his rencent history with Hockey Canada. Not sure about Simmonds, could happen as he played last year.

RT @davegisaac: Canada asked for Claude Giroux in Worlds and the Flyers said no.

They will get Brayden Schenn.

Simmonds has a knee issue.

What the heck ? i thought it was up to players to decide whether or not they play.

The players do get to decide but the Flyers saying no for him is a way for him to avoid getting put on TC's **** list for future tournaments.

The Giroux thing isn't surprising. What is surprising is that no information has come out from any other team. If Schenn is being offered an invitation, I am thinking a few other forwards from eliminated teams have declined.

Hard to believe a guy like Mackinnon declining and you have to think they were right on him as soon as Colorado was eliminated.

I think all the players have gone into hiding... dreading that "phone" call :D

HC spent lots of money on these guys growing up (Yes, i know the parents do most and put up most of the money, but HC takes them to a higher level) - im to the opinion that once the players reach NHL (only nhl) status, they should repay HC - just like a university loan - same principle
