So who does the team add after the first round: Carlo Colaiacovo, Steve Ott, Dustin Jeffrey, and Nick Schultz?
Jeffrey was sent down to AHL to play on a Calder Cup favourite and the rest are god awful.
None of the rest of the guys you mentioned, unless whoever is putting the team together wants to get canned.

Point was our team already looks like crap, so why not add more of it?

If Minny loses tonight maybe Matt Cooke, Danny Heatly could go although there would probably be widespread condemnation directed at Hockey Canada.

Does anyone else think that interest in / media coverage of this tournament seems weaker than normal this year? I haven't seen anything about the players receiving invitations after the 1st playoff round...normally we would have heard about the status of the Schwartz's, Johansen's, Seguin's, etc., by now. Maybe its international hockey overload, and the lack of star power associated with this being an Olympic year - which IMO has the impact of both reducing the number of Olympic players actually accepting the invite (only Perry accepted in 2010), and the number of young guys looking to bolster their reputation and credibility with HC. Or maybe Blake is just waiting until the 1st round is complete before sending out his final invitations.

As to Seguin; its an interesting debate to be sure. I personally don't hold it against him if he chooses not to accept the HC invite. I also have an enormous amount of respect for players like Joel Ward and Jason Chimera who wouldn't make the Olympic team in a million years, but still choose to represent Canada. The flip side of course is that, as a potential bubble player for any future editions of Team Canada (2016 or 2018, whatever the case may be), a player of comparable quality (say, Matt Duchene) who gets his ass over to Europe at every possible opportunity for HC will probably slot in ahead of Seguin on the depth chart, all things being equal.

You'd think TSN would be hyping the hell out of it since they lost the rights for the playoffs and lots of NHL games.

I think there was quite a bit of coverage right after the regular season ended, and we're still 10 days away from the tournament, with only four spots remaining on the preliminary round roster, so the intrigue and coverage is bound to be minimal until just a few days before the games begin. I think they gave too many marginal players spots before waiting out the first round of the SC playoffs. With future Olympic participation in doubt, there should be a great deal more players ready to suit up.

Where are all my team Canada brothers and sisters!!!???

Come on guys...any rumors on who's going...are they waiting for Colorado to get knocked off !!??

What the F** happened to seguin?
Where is Ryan Johansson ?

Where is every one...come on guys

we should take a 23 man roster. need to add 3 players. 2 forwards 1 D. Who do we take?

- Ryan Johanson (F)
- Ryan Murray (D)
- Tyler Seguin (F)
- Brayden Schenn (F)
- Sean Coutourier (F)
- Luke Schenn (D)

Bozak stated that he was approached but not formally asked to play. Clarke MacArthur was in a situation a few years ago where HC told him that he could play in the tournament if a few other players turned down their offers. My assumption is that Bozak is in a similar situation to MacArthur.

My understanding was that he was approached but stated he had not decided?

Oh my, this year's roster doesn't look too good, ick.

aha...let's hope for some significant additions today/tomorrow now that 1st. rd. is done...otherwise Tippett is going to need some magic motivational dust to get this collection anywhere..

Do you really think it's that bad when you compare it to what the rest of the competition is sending?

No world beaters there either IMO.

3 things. Team is too young, too inexperienced at int. tournys...and not enough time to gel. whereas the other teams are more mature professionals, more international experience where the core of the team has played more together throughout the year and over the past several years.

plus, I'm not convinced Tippett is the coach for these types of tournaments. HC needs to hire a permanent full-time coach for the WHC. Andy Murray.

You've got a point.

I like the Murray idea for sure.

I think this team might surprise us though, we might even pick Mackinnon up now.

I'm always up for surprises...and yes.. I'm all for Mackinnon getting a spot plus Ryan O'Reilly, Johansen and Murray... all young players yes...but young and elite talent...the others? other than Monahan ...I'm not sure Scheifle can do anything coming off injury and not having played a game in 2 months..Huburdeau terrible season...

but we'll see where it goes...
