Robson saved 45 of 47 shots in Iowa's OT loss against Tucson.

He now has a 1.94GAA and 0.941% in 4 AHL games. Pretty good so far. Hope he can keep it up.

25 points in 12 games looks pretty good on paper.

Does anyone watch their games? Is he the play driver on his line?
Not I. I believe he is playing with Pelletier, who was a 1st rounder last year. That being said, in the highlights he’s always creating plays

I heard one report from someone who watches Moncton a while back that said Khovanov helps Pelletier more than Pelletier helps Khovanov. Of course that's just one guy's opinion on HF. But there was also a lot of talk that Khovanov was likely a first round talent that fell mostly due to health and conditioning concerns, so it's possible that now he's addressing some of those concerns and he's playing like the first round talent people thought he could be.

I think I remember seeing that post to. I think there’s still some question marks in his game, but from what I’ve seen, I don’t think his skating is an issue anymore.

just curious how many points does khovanov have to score before some posters would think highly of him?

It's not a matter of points; it's a matter of if he adapts or not to the AHL. There are gifted scorers in the QMJHL that never translate well to the pro-game. Furthermore, he's been banged up with some really odd injuries here and there that have taken away from his development. Finally, his skating needs to be worked on.

Write-up on the BC trio of Boldy, Warren and McBain on the Athletic. Apparently Warren and Boldy have known each other for many years and are best friends.

The future of the Wild: Matthew Boldy, Marshall Warren and...

From the coach, on McBain:
“He reminds me an awful lot of Brian Boyle when he first came to BC and he’s got 14 years in the NHL now,” York said.

On Boldy:
Dan Hinote, associate head coach with USA Hockey, sees similarities between Boldy and Marian Hossa and Patrice Bergeron.
“(Hossa and Bergeron) took just as much pride in stripping guys of pucks on the defensive side as (they) did scoring goals on the offensive side,” Hinote said.“Boldy’s the same way. That’s rare for somebody to put that much pride in their defensive game.”

On Warren:
The Wild took Warren 166th overall in the draft, and Hinote thinks that was a steal, too. He couldn’t believe it when he fell.
He believes Warren is the type of player who will wear a letter wherever he plays and could someday be a captain at the highest level.

More on Boldy - particularly on his skating:
But it’s Boldy and Warren’s underrated skills that USA Hockey staff point to when discussing the duo’s big upside.
For Boldy, it’s his skating, which was often the one thing scouts were critical of in his game.
“His skating is very good for a kid his size. His edge work is actually some of the best I’ve ever seen,” Wroblewski said. “He can cross the blue line and cut and carve on a dime and his straight-ahead speed is excellent. If there was something, it’s the first couple of strides.”
Hinote said it almost looks like Boldy is defying the laws of physics with the way he can move laterally.
His only criticism of Boldy’s game is an occasional tendency to try to do too much with the puck. In junior, it often worked out for him. As he progresses, Boldy will have to learn to change things up against better defenders, he said.

It's not a matter of points. He's 19/20 years old playing in the Q vs kids. It's to be expected that he racks up points this season.

I want to see him play against harder competition to see how his game translates.

There's no chance that you have ever watched this kid play.

khovanov seems to make his team better isn't that important?
It's important, it's just hard to project based on his stat-line alone. It's been said that poor CHL production is reason to worry, but great production isn't necessarily reason to celebrate. Lots of talented players struggle once they're up against bigger, older players with less time and less space.

He's definitely doing well, though.

He's the best player (Pelletier is also very good) on the team and one of the top 3 on the ice most nights in the Q.

The kid has the potential to be a good NHL player and was a good pick in the late 3rd round. I'm not going to pencil him in for a NHL roster spot next year. I'm guessing he'd fall in the 3-7 range of MN prospects for most posters on here.

I'm intrigued by Khovanov, but the age and league thing keeps it a little bit tempered. You really can't ask much more out of a 3rd round pick though.

Pretty much. He's a an intriguing prospect, but thinking he'll make an impact in the NHL next season - or even a few years is a little premature. Dewar and Sokolov both had great seasons in the CHL, but have struggled to adapt to the AHL. You can't really ask much more than having a high risk, high potential prospect in the 3rd round.

Most of us have never seen prospects play, because it's almost impossible. But scouting reports and watching trends and projections helps immensely. Also, outside of the skating - do you really need to watch him to say he's had health issues that have taken away from his development? Or the fact that multitude of CHL players have struggled to adapt to the AHL.

Dewar has like 3 games total played in the AHL. That is too small of a sample size to make any conclusions about his game imo.

Eh. He wouldn't be scratched if they thought he could help the lineup. Then again Iowa is little more loaded than usual. Still, they are taking Dewar along slowly, we'll see in a few games if he can force his way in the lineup.

I don't read too much into the scratches to start the season for a rookie. Like you said, Iowa is pretty loaded. There could be a bunch of reasons for him to be scratched to start the year:
-He had a minor injury and they didn't want to aggravate it.
-He might need more time to learn the team's systems.
-He might not be good enough compared to the guys who were on the ice.
-The coaches don't trust him yet.

Sokolov being scratched is much more concerning to me.
