He still has a year+ left on his ELC. He can't go to Russia unless the Wild give him an unconditional release. If they did that they wouldn't own his rights.

Maybe it'll be the wakeup call that Sokolov needs, or maybe he just washes out of the league?
The Wild can allow him to go play in Russia "on loan" and would still retain his rights

There's no transfer agreement with the KHL so I don't think that's true. He could play in the ECHL or Europe leagues on loan. If the Wild QO him at the end of his current deal and he declines to go play in the KHL I think the Wild retain his rights until he's 27?

The Wild can loan him to any team they want outside of the NHL. Sokolov can't sign a contract with anyone else without the Wilds permission.

Geez, even Pulkkinen could play in the AHL. Ah well, the dream of a homegrown sniper bites the dust.

There must be a lack of ability to adapt his game.

From what I've heard..this is the best draft in years....soo let's be happy that we suck this year?
I accept that we suck this year, but I won't ever be happy about it. Let's not bring that discussion to this thread.

This is about our prospects here.

Boudrias scores Cape Breton's third goal of the game (his first point)
Khovanov scores Moncton's ninth goal of the game (2g, 1a)
Yeah yeah, D+2 and all that. Still...

Doesn't turn 20 until April. Has to be on a pretty good track to make the WJC I'd think.
I haven't really thought about it, but this year's WJC should be a bit more interesting for us than last year's  Aside from Boldy and Khovanov do we have anyone else that might be going? I think Johansson made Sweden's Four Nations team, so maybe him?

Not sure what the Canada goalie situation is, but if Jones already has one Goalie of the Month award, he might be in the running.

Maybe Warren, though I think the US defense is fairly stacked.

I saw that F Johansson's scoring wasn't quite as anemic this year in a better league, but realized that I have no idea what 3 pts in 13 games actually "means" for a young dman in the SHL. So after some in-depth sleuthing on EliteProspects...

Defenseman Scoring (SHL - U22)
Both Johanssons in the top-10.

You think so?

I said he was the guy Fenton was going to take.

AZ didn't jump 3 spots in the draft for nothing. Philly wasn't going to take him, otherwise they wouldn't have made the trade. FLA was taking the goalie was almost a given. That leaves MN as the only real reason to move up like that in the draft.
