Novikov back down the the MHL and scores today but he, Kisakov and Dynamo are eliminated from playoffs 0-4 against Michkov and SKA. Michkov really is that good and Buchelnikov should definitely be a consideration as an overage pick for just about everyone. That kid is also dynamite.

I have to say, right now....you just have to see that bringing Owen Power into this room now, makes so much more sense. A loose, team first, playing for the logo on the front and battling together mentality. Also, a younger blue collar sentiment. Owen Power can be another piece of the tip of the Sabre, as we resurge! F'n hell, where did this team come from out of the ashes of November 2021.

Buchelnikov, is such a fun player for sure. If this team starts to play like this; we're not going to be close to drafting Michkov.

Yeah, the Sabres should be done with the top of the draft even for this year shy of the improbable bounce of the lottery balls.

So what does Rosen’s timeline to the NHL look like? One more year before he comes to Rochester, or two? And then how many seasons in Rochester?

So it looks like his contract with Leksands expires after next season. I think him coming to Rochester will depend on how he looks next year -- if he plays in the SHL mostly and does well, I think Buffalo will push hard to get him over here for 23/24. If he looks like he needs more seasoning, I could see him signing a 2-year extension with Leksands and then coming over in 25/26 as a 22 year old.

I would expect they are thinking '23-24 as a target. He'd moved to center and looked pretty good making the 2nd line go when he went down to Mora in the Allsvensken (before getting hurt) which was a pleasant surprise. Obviously, strength and muscle mass are going to be the limiting factors he has to overcome. They may also sign him to a deal and then have the "loan" back to his club team so he continues to play in Sweden like they've done with some of their other European draftees of late.

Poltapov with a goal so far today. I'm surprised he didn't get any other discipline for his headbutting major in the last game (he was held scoreless).

Nadeau and Bloom are both on a 2-year timer since they were selected out of the CHL. However, with the seasons they have both had, they can and should sign both. Same with Kozak out of the WHL - he's impressed by unfurling an offensive game that people just weren't able to see in the COVID-impacted scouting.

It never hurts to have guys coming into the farm to push up from below. Injuries happen, development isn't always linear, and trying to be more balanced than reactionary to depth is something to strive for. They've had two previous RHD ebbs in the last dozen years which then wound up being overfilled going back to Regier's ill-fated 2010 draft for need philosophy at the top of that draft (Pysyk, Leduc, MacKenzie) and of course Botterill's acquisition of all the RHDeez in his tenure.
Should sign Glotov as well.. for real

How do you think the CHL players compare to the Euros? Which few players games will translate best?

Can't really speak to who will necessarily translate the best. Wish I could, but then again, that would mean I should be using those talents in a front office instead of stomping around here, right? :D

The CHL trio of Nadeau, Bloom, and Kozak are all very different players from one another. Nadeau is big, uses his hands in tight spaces to control pucks, make plays, and finish. Olivier needs to work on his skating more to be able to use his tools at the next level. Despite not being the fleetest though he's been an interesting player on faceoffs and plays both PK and PP. He'll be going back to the Q due to the NHL-CHL agreement base on his age.

Bloom has excellent speed, plays at pace and seems like someone who will do whatever is necessary, and good finish on the rush. We already know he'll do whatever is asked of him to help the team. He'll also be going back to the OHL due to the NHL-CHL agreement base on his age.

Kozak is defensively sound, prickly, also works well in traffic from what I've seen and seems somewhat above average in speed. I recall liking his crossovers. He could sign a pro deal for next year due to being a late December birthday but I don't know if they want him at that level at that age.

Cederqvist is a guy who we should not sleep on. Big, fast, plus shot. Not sure he stays in Sweden to go down to the Allsvenskan since Djurgarden got relegated. I would expect him to sign this summer, then be in Rochester working on becoming a mid-line scoring wing who can provide speed.

Poltapov goes like mad when the puck is on the offensive side of the red line. He can finish in tight, makes some crafty passing plays to open teammates, and is generally bowling through traffic with the puck or without. He's got some power to his game that should help him translate and of course his deal is long enough to round off the warts (as well as the lack of KHL transfer agreement and now the complete severing of formal ties between the NHL and KHL). He should be a mid-line guy, might be a bit of a energy player, especially if he discovers that he can be a bowling ball in his own zone too. His VHL time was kind of disappointing in that he didn't play much.

Kisakov is intriguing in how he sees the game and he is a much more committed defensive player than Poltapov. But he's also rail thin, a bit short, and he's quick in shorter areas rather than being a burner. He has shown me a broader arsenal of plays than Poltapov has and it seems like he's got to be an offensive line winger or it will be harder for him to have success. It'll be interesting to see if he's up in the KHL or if he spends any time in the VHL next year.

Konecny plays center for Sparta Praha and is signed through the end of the 2024 season there. They'd lent him out and down a league for some playoff experience with HC Banik Sokolov who got bounced and then back to their U20 team who are now in the playoffs. He's a ways off IMO, but playing against men most nights was not bad for him in the Czech league.

Huglen is a talent who should explode next year in a bigger role as a sophomore at Minnesota. He plays a complete game, can play center or wing and can finish or start plays. Losing the year to the back injury blows but he's made up for that a lot.

Costantini is a quick playmaking LW who will have more time to round out his game at NoDak. He came on as the season progressed and started to break out late. Figure 2 more years to see let him marinate in college to see if he's come along far enough to warrant a deal.

He's not so good for the NHL. Andrei Kuzmenko is the player you are looking at if you want to sign a free agent, he has the skill and will be easier to adapt to the NHL unlike Gusev, as he is well developed physically, but I suspect that many teams will qualify for Kuzmenko, also me I don't know where he can play with us.

You’ve got comments on 9 of the prospects which is great ,..,no Rosen, Sardarian or Marjala?? So if you had to list them in order as to who is most likely to shine at the next level, how does it look??

Sardarian can walk eventually. He’s going the NCAA route.

That being said out of these I was excited for Marjala. Then he promptly did nothing this season
