Exactly, if he wants to sign an AHL only contract, by all means. But he's not worth spending a slot on.

Well, we did see him in the AHL and it wasn't great. He's a great kid, love his enthusiasm and joy for the team but that doesn't make him contract worthy.

He is worth 2

I didn't even know you could do that...

Who do we expect to sign between now and training camp? I have Portillo, Johnson, and Cederqvist being solid additions to Roch. Maybe 1 or 2 of the many Scandinavian dmen prospects we have too.

Bloom and Nadeau I would like to lock up but they still have another year of junior eligibility before being able to play in the AHL right?

Probably one more year in Sweden for Rosen and who knows with Novrikov. Would like to Huglen pop off next year in the NCAA too then bring him in late in the season.

Yes, Bloom and Nadeau aren't old enough (they don't turn 20 before December 31st of the upcoming season) so they are not AHL eligible. I'm fine with that, and would like them both signed this summer.

Agreed on Portillo, Johnson and Cedarqvist. Kozak is eligible to play in the AHL but I think he goes back for one more year in the WHL.

Novikov has another year on his deal with Dynamo. So too does Rosen with Leksands so that seems like he won't be coming over - not that there is anything wrong with him staying in Sweden, adding some muscle mass and filling out.

Of their cross-section of Northern European d-men, maybe Lyckasen? But I don't know how they feel about him or their other rather pedestrian defensive defenders left over from the Botterill days.

I was hoping for someone like Livingstone or Metsa as a UDFA but Metsa for sure is going back to Quinnipiac.

I could also see them tossing a pick at someone like Edmunds out of the OHL since he's what, a triple over-ager and can step right into the AHL next season as a creative playmaking winger.

Okay good to know. I haven’t quite kept up with the age requirements and contracts involved with our guys. It seems like we can inject a portion of them into the farm every year for the next few years though. We’ll have so many waves of prospects.

Those Botterill dmen are like clones, but the I think there are some opportunities on the Amerks for them. Maybe you can develop one of them into a depth player for injury call ups or something.

Most of the time, if a player has really low offensive production at lower levels, they don't progress much at higher levels and those Bott d-men almost all have very low productivity in their given leagues. Lyckasen has some better scoring totals but would also be a little redundant if they are trying to still work on Laaksonen as a future contributor since Oskari's best feature is as a RH PP1 point guy and that's sort of Lyckasen's game as well.

It's always a plus to have players coming aboard to contribute at the pro level in a steady stream.

Poltapov scored his team's only goal in a 4-1 loss. Very handsie goal, put it high over the goalie from a tight angle, almost like how Drury used to go high in his heyday.

Trikozov went 1-1-2 in earning the win.

Good playoff for Poltapov

That Adams quote about Johnson and Portillo sure sounds like neither are interested in signing with the Sabres. Jayzus, how to suck the excitement out of the team. 3 times snubbed in one offseason. At least we get compensation if Johnson doesn’t sign.

Which quote? All I seen as a reference to him still having conversations with them. Like I mentioned in another thread, these are not straightforward negotiations like signing powers to a max contract which essentially was always what it was going to be. There’s nuances about where they’re going to play and how much they’re actually going to make so it’s a bit more involved than just signing a contract that is essentially predetermined. If there’s some other quote that I missing then please share it with us!
