Michigan gets a crazy amount of hype. So, I am not surprised that they are ranked 6th early in the season. Will be interesting to see how MSU fares under their new coach. The Spartans have been irrelevant for a long time.
Michigan will be heavily reliant on an uber-talented freshman class to replace the proven scoring punch of departed forwards, but is anyone else surprised to see them ranked at #6?
Here are the results of weekend games for Top 20 teams.

To clarify, I expected them to be ranked higher.Michigan gets a crazy amount of hype. So, I am not surprised that they are ranked 6th early in the season.
Time will tell whether they live up to that hype or not.
With all the coaching drama, I’d be surprised if they were ranked higher. To clarify, I expected them to be ranked higher.
Portillo returned. Luke Hughes will likely be the best d-man in the country and is the early Hobey favorite. Fantilli will almost certainly be a top 5-pick, probably top-3. He leads a strong freshman group that includes Nazar, #13OA, and McGroarty, #14OA. 8 other players have been drafted.
Sounds like a strong roster to me, but maybe I'm a victim of the hype. Not being sarcastic; I wouldn't describe myself as terribly knowledgeable about NCAA hockey.
Good point. With all the coaching drama, I’d be surprised if they were ranked higher.
Yeah, but they also lost a lot of talent with Power, Beniers, and Johnson all turning pro.Good point.
Otoh, none of their players sought transfer, afaik, and ditto for their commits. I'll take talent over coaching any day.
And with what we know, the returning players might well consider the coaching change "addition by subtraction".
Yeah, but they also lost a lot of talent with Power, Beniers, and Johnson all turning pro.
