Former 49ers fullback Bruce Miller has been reported to Capitol Police after allegedly sending a threatening message to Eric Swalwell on social media.

The California congressman shared the contents of the message on Wednesday.

"Almost time!!!. Would you rather Guantanamo or just execution f---- traitor," the message said.

The threat came in a direct message, which was sent to Swalwell from Miller's personal Twitter account. The message was threatening enough that Swalwell reported the matter to Capitol Police, according to NBC Bay Area.

"My family and staff are deeply disturbed by the threat of execution ... apparently by former 49er Bruce Miller," Swalwell told NBC. "Threats of political violence are unacceptable."

The 49ers actually reached out to Swalwell on Thursday, although the congressman didn't offer any details on what was said. Swalwell has been a member of the House of Representatives since November 2012 when he was first elected. His district in California includes the Bay Area, which is where Miller spent nearly five years of his life as a member of the 49ers.

Miller sent out a tweet on Thursday where he attempted to downplay the nature of his message to Swalwell.

"I was content with trolling corrupt politicians in my DM's, but since you want to make a story out of it then that's what we'll do," Miller wrote. "That was in no way a threat to you or you family."

What the hell is going on with Georgia players and driving infractions ????

from cbssports.com:

Georgia wide receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint was arrested Tuesday on reckless driving and speeding charges. He was booked by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department and posted bond less than one hour later, according to The Athletic.

Rosemy-Jacksaint is the fourth Bulldogs player to be arrested on a driving-related charge this offseason and fifth since the start of the 2022 season.

Defensive tackle Jalen Carter was arrested March 1 ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft Combine and charged with reckless driving and street racing. The charges stemmed from a January incident involving team staffer Chandler LeCroy, who crashed her vehicle and died in the alleged street race, as did Bulldogs offensive lineman Devin Willock.

Willock's father filed a $40 million wrongful death lawsuit against the Georgia Athletic Association related to the deadly crash. The lawsuit alleges Carter had a "pattern of excessive speeding" as the player was previously cited for driving nearly 90 mph in a 45 mph zone on an Atlanta highway.

Linebacker Jason Dumas-Johnson was arrested for racing and reckless driving just five days before the incident that killed Willock, and wide receiver De'Nylon Morrissette was arrested on multiple driving-related charges, including a DUI, earlier this month.

Last fall, defensive back Javon Bullard was also arrested on a DUI charge but never officially suspended for the incident.

Sadly, I think you're going to hear more instances of bad or stupid behaviour. NIL gives players money while in College, so even with the added talks and lectures about being smart and safe with their money, young men will do stupid things unfortunately.

Arkansas has kicked QB Kade Renfro off team amid allegations of sexual assault.

from cbssports.com:

Arkansas has parted ways with backup quarterback Kade Renfro. The university on Thursday said it recently completed an investigation into allegations of sexual assault and harassment by the player prior to making its ultimate decision.

This after an anonymous Instagram account, which has since been deleted, leveled serious accusations against Renfro detailing an alleged history of assault and harassment against multiple women over a period of years.

Both the Arkansas athletic department and the university's administration released statements addressing the decision.

"Upon gaining knowledge of the allegations against a student-athlete earlier this week, we immediately informed the University's Title IX office of the allegations," Arkansas' athletic department said. "The student-athlete is no longer a member of the football team."

"After being made aware of the allegations, we notified the relevant offices on our campus," the university said. "Due to FERPA student privacy regulations, we are unable to provide more information at this time."

All of Renfro's social media had been deleted as of Thursday.

Davante Adams is being sued by sideline photographer.

from cbssports.com:

Raiders star Davante Adams has been hit with a civil lawsuit stemming from an incident that took place following a game back in October.

After a dramatic Monday night loss to the Chiefs last season, Adams shoved a credentialed media worker as the receiver was walking off the field. The shove was hard enough that it knocked the man over. The man who got pushed, Park Zebley, claimed to have suffered whiplash, headaches and a minor concussion following the push. Zebley was at the game working as a freelance photographer for ESPN.

In the days following the Oct. 10 incident, Adams was charged with misdemeanor assault. Seven and a half months later, Zebley has now decided to file a lawsuit, according to the Kansas City Star.

"A municipal misdemeanor battery charge is not sufficient," Zebley said in a statement to the Star. "I'm looking for justice. You can't shove someone down and walk off like it didn't happen. Not in real life."

Not only has Adams been named as a defendant, but Zebley is also suing the Raiders, the Chiefs, the Jackson County Sports Complex Authority and Landmark Events Staffing.

Patriots CB Jack Jones arrested for trying to bring guns onto a plane.

New England Patriots cornerback Jack Jones was arrested Friday night at a TSA check point at Boston Logan International Airport after two firearms were discovered in his carry-on luggage, according to Massachusetts State Police. The guns were found around 5:30 p.m., per the TSA, which led to police being called to the security area.

The former Arizona State Sun Devil is being charged with two counts of a concealed weapon in a secure area of an airport, possession of ammunition without a Firearm Identification Card, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm and possession of a large-capacity feeding device. He was reportedly traveling from Boston to Arizona.

"We have been notified that Jack Jones was arrested at Logan Airport earlier today," the Patriots said in a released statement, according to The Associated Press."We are in the process of gathering more information and will not be commenting further at this time."

Jones was booked at the State Police-Logan Airport Barracks, per Boston News 25, and his bail was set at $50,000. The defensive back was set to enter his second NFL season after being selected 121st overall in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. He totaled two interceptions, including a pick-six of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rogers, in a 27-24 overtime loss at the Green Bay Packers in Week 4 of the 2022 season.

Update on the Jack Jones situation from ESPN:

Jones, 25, was charged with two counts of the following offenses: possession of a concealed weapon in a secure area of the airport, possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm and possession of a large capacity feeding device.

Two of the counts against Jones carry mandatory minimum prison sentences of 2½ years if he is indicted and later convicted. Two other counts carry mandatory minimum sentences of 18 months if he is indicted and later convicted.

"He had no intention of bringing any guns into Logan Airport that day. He had no intention of bringing any guns on to an airport that day," Jones' attorney, Rosemary Scapicchio, said outside the courtroom. "I expect the evidence is going to show that he had no knowledge of what was going on."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And then ( maybe not surprisingly ) his lawyer played the race card. :shakehead

Scapicchio also took aim at coverage of Jones' arrest.

"It's the social media, and the media, who have turned him into a thug, who have labeled him a thug, with no evidence whatsoever," she said. "Because he's a young Black man, all of a sudden, he's a thug. That's what happened here. It's disrespectful to Mr. Jones and every other Black man in America. This is the institutional racism we deal with every day in the court system.

"... That label that was attached to him through social media almost got him fired, and it was completely unfounded."

Child Pornography charges dropped against Jalen Kitna.

from espn.com:

Five felony child pornography charges were dropped against former Florida Gators quarterback Jalen Kitna on Wednesday as part of a deal that resulted in him pleading no contest to two misdemeanor counts of breach of the peace.

Kitna, the sophomore son of former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna, will not be required to register as a sex offender and will not serve jail time.

He was sentenced to one year probation, which could be reduced to six months if he complies with the conditions of his parole.

Kitna was arrested November 30th on five felony child pornography charges -- two counts of distribution of child exploitation material and three counts of possession of child pornography -- after police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that a user had distributed an image of child sexual abuse material on Discord, a social media platform.

The investigation found Kitna to be the probable owner of the account, which shared two images of young girls being sexually abused. Police say they found three additional images of nude young women on Kitna's phone.

Kitna on Wednesday apologized in court to "my family, friends and the people that care about me."

"I'm thankful for all of their support during this time," Kitna said from a statement. "Watching how this has affected the ones closest to me has been the most difficult during this process. I've learned some very valuable lessons. I will apply these lessons to my life moving forward. With my family's support and love, I am thankful I can now put this behind me."

He supposedly entered the transfer portal after things were resolved, still pretty difficult for me to imagine him finding many takers for his services

Kind of depends on the details of the case. Were these young woman 17 year olds or were they younger? A 19 year old having nude pics of a 17 year old isn't that shocking but if they were 13 year olds then that's very disgusting. The sexually abused part is very concerning as well.

Former staffer sues University of Georgia and Jalen Carter.

from espn.com:

Victoria Bowles, who survived the fatal car wreck that killed a University of Georgia football player and recruiting staffer on Jan. 15, has filed a lawsuit against the UGA Athletic Association and Philadelphia Eagles rookie Jalen Cartere, whom police accused of racing the SUV being driven by a recruiting staffer when it wrecked.

The lawsuit, filed in state court in Gwinnett County on Wednesday by Bowles, a former recruiting analyst for the university, accuses the UGA athletic association of negligence and contradicts public statements by Bulldogs football coach Kirby Smart and other officials, who have claimed that recruiting staffer Chandler LeCroy shouldn't have been driving the leased SUV when it left the road and struck trees and utility poles.

The crash occurred hours after Georgia celebrated its second straight national championship with an on-campus parade. After the wreck, the athletic association issued a statement that said in part that "rental vehicles were to be turned in at the immediate conclusion of recruiting duties."

"On the evening of the Championship Celebration, LeCroy told Ms. Bowles that she [LeCroy] had 'permission' to keep the SUV 'until tomorrow,'" the lawsuit said. "Numerous text messages from recruiting staff supervisors to LeCroy, Ms. Bowles and other staff members show the Association's statement is false. Recruiting staff were regularly informed they could leave their personal vehicles overnight at the Butts-Mehre football facility and permissively use Association rental vehicles through a specified cut-off date and time, unrelated to their assigned recruiting activity duties."

The lawsuit also alleges that the athletic association was negligent in allowing LeCroy to drive the SUV during her duties. Bowles' lawyers contend that athletic officials were aware that "LeCroy had at least four speeding tickets, which included two 'super speeder' violations under Georgia law." The lawsuit claims LeCroy's supervisor was in the car when she received her most recent super speeder ticket on Oct. 30 while driving home from the Georgia-Florida game in Jacksonville, Florida.

The lawsuit said LeCroy's SUV was traveling at least 104.2 mph when it crashed and had been racing another SUV driven by Carter for 45 seconds or less. Police said LeCroy's blood alcohol concentration was .197, nearly 2½ times the legal limit in Georgia.

Three days before the start of Vikings training camp, rookie wide receiver Jordan Addison has been cited for speeding and reckless driving, as ESPN reported, after Minnesota State Patrol pulled him over for driving 140 miles per hour in a 55-mph zone.

Addison, 21, drafted No. 23 overall this April, was driving a Lamborghini Urus, a "super sport SUV" , just after 3 a.m. in St. Paul when State Patrol officers engaged him for a traffic stop. Addison's vehicle was going 85 mph above the limit on Interstate 94, per the police report. The incident remains an open investigation, but the rookie was issued a citation for the violation.

"We are aware of last night's traffic incident involving Jordan Addison," the Vikings said later Thursday, "and are gathering additional information."

Addison did not take the field for the Vikings' organized team activities or minicamp practices out of precaution for an undisclosed injury, but he partook in rookie minicamp and is expected to have a sizable role opposite star receiver Justin Jefferson. With veteran Adam Thielen gone, the first-round USC product has been widely projected as Minnesota's new No. 2 receiver.

He and the rest of the Vikings' rookies are scheduled to report to training camp on Sunday.

I thought he was more of a possession guy than a speed guy
