Alright so use 7.5M as his UFA years as well then. How can you use his RFA years as a comparable and then assume 10M for his UFA?

It's easy, I assume Gaudreau wants to maximize his earnings.

Flames can play hardball and play the comparable game all they want. He's worth around $8M already as a player. He's not a young developing player, he's a star. So pay him like one.

It may result in a trade, it's actually likely to if he gets top dollar. But that trade won't be JG, if it comes to it, it will be whomever they think they can live without, in order to keep JG.

The fact is he's a star. Pay him like one. It's how the league works now.

Nobody else to sign this year, lots of cap comes off the books next years. In the future, when it comes to re-sign guys like Bennett and Tkachuk I see them moving away from Backlund. If he signs, Gaudreau won't be the one that moves if a move is needed

Yeah, its silly to compare the Gaudreau and Trouba situations, Gaudreau obviously wants to stay in Calgary. As an Oilers fan I'm just hoping that it's going to be for 8+
