Respect, but can we be honest with each other? snow seems to think that when you get into the playoffs "anything can happen," but does anyone here really believe anything can happen for this specific Islander team? In the playoffs the play gets even more tight-checking and so you need even better play from the very parts of our team that are anywhere from lackluster to embarrassing - Our goaltending and defense.

The only way I'd be ok with snow trading assets like the 1st/2nd rounders, Bellows, Sorokin, etc is if you got very good player(s) back in return who have contracts for at least 2 more seasons after this one.

Short of that, let Ledecky choke on this very flawed team it took snow 11 years to assemble and hopefully the "Heimlich maneuver" to save him will spit out snow into the trash.

If they (management) are serious about getting this team to the playoffs...

1. Fritz, Quine and Prince will not dress again.
2. At least one healthy defenseman with NHL experience and some life left to his game will be added, if only to keep Seidenberg out of the lineup.
3. The coaching staff will immediately stop this incredibly dumb defensive system that does not work.
4. A competent, NHL caliber bottom 6 forward with life left to his game that can PK will be added to cut down on JT's ice time keeping him fresh for scoring situations.

And it will still be an uphill battle to get in

In light of tonight, as our chances of playoffs slip even further into nothing (for the umpteenth year of Snow's management), Snow's smug manner during that interview last week becomes even more obnoxious. He has to go. Yesterday.

Weekly Reader: Ranking all 31 NHL GMs into tiers

There are only three general managers employed longer than Snow, who was hired in 2006: Poile, Ken Holland and Wilson. All three have had their teams play for the Stanley Cup since Snow was hired. Their teams advanced past the first round 16 times since Snow was hired.

Snow's teams have never played for a championship. During that span, they advanced past the first round once.

Snow is the only GM that got hired because the owner loves him loves hanging with him...doesnt mind losing millions a year as long as he gets to keep his buddy around. Wang: Snow is 'a hell of a general manager'
Snow is probably on the phone 5 times a week with Wang. If a real GM was here he would be "yeah exactly why are we needing to talk so much charles? dont you have anything better to do?. "...for those that think snow would be GM if wang wasnt one of the 3 owners...wow you dont know much about how things work in the world of business.

Snow became Wang’s buddy when Wang realized he wasn’t getting a real estate deal and cut expenses to the bone. Snow went along with the program when any legitimate GM would’ve walked. Hence the friendship.

I am guessing Snow is going to add a top 4 D-man in the next week or so, I just hope he is not going to overpay to get them, especially after this latest Billboard thing he might feel pressured to do something, really hope he is not going to trade Ho-Sang or another move that could look bad

Way too premature. Last I checked they are in the playoff hunt with two exceptional scoring lines and yes defensive deficiencies. This is more Weights problem right now.

They are in the hunt though, the trade deadline is approaching and if they get in and make some noise in the playoffs, then Snow is brilliant isn’t he?

Wouldn’t bet the house on it but there is a chance. All you people should relax.

1. The first line has sucked recently.
2. Snow is FAR from brilliant.

Wang? Stop drinking the Kool-Aid man. The Milsteins are really the ones running the Islanders.

Why is snow brilliant for building a bubble team that just got into the playoffs?

Give another GM 11 years and they'd have built something far better than a bubble team. We as a fanbase have to stop cheering mediocrity. Over half the teams in the sport make the playoffs. it's not an impressive feat.

Snow is the like the last place coach on a CYO basketball team. And some of us act like happy parents when our kid got a participation trophy. That's not good enough. His track record or lack thereof speaks for itself.
