Former Bruins Garnet Hathaway

Hathaway is like if Nick Ritchie laid off the donuts, lost 20 pounds, and could keep up with the pace of play.
haha so true, guys got terrific speed

I work with a Leaf fan but a realistic and humble one, not one who acts like his team has no faults, just looked at me this morning and said "just when I thought the Leafs set themselves up for a long playoff run your f____n Bruins do this".....love it

Marchy has cut back on the crap over the years.

Before it felt like Bergy was grabbing him by the back of the jersey every game and telling him to stop.

Now he takes his anger out on their scoreboard.

IMO, Brad has every reason to get angry. The stripes not only call him for stuff they wouldn't call other players for but they also (and this is worse IMO) let the other teams cheap shot Brad almost every game. You see more of this when you are at the games. It REALLY pisses me off.
I agree 100%. He gets shafted by the refs a lot and his reputation has been overblown I think by certain fan bases you know who.

Marchand has earned his reputation and bias from the refs. Just last game he slewfooted Bjorkstrand. Marchand is a rat and one of the dirtiest players in the history of the league, but we love him because he's a Bruin and passionate and talented. While not in same realm of talent, Hathaway plays hard, finished his checks and makes the opposition suffer. He's exactly what we enjoy in Marchand.

When he scored that goal as he got trucked in the slot the last time the Caps played the Bruins and then proceeded to celebrate by twirling his finger in the air as he laid flat on his back on the ice catching his breath even I laughed and thought what an asshole, and I actually meant it as a weird compliment.
Haha I remember that and thought similarly, "meh d-bag but I'd probably have done the same thing too. ."

I have the game sheet from my final minor league hockey game. There was a line brawl between us and Chinguacousy. On it, #24 (yours truly) had the following infractions:

1. Minor penalty charging (this set off said liney)
2. Major - fight
3. Match - facemasking
4. Match - verbal abuse of official
5. Match - physical abuse of official
6. Major - fight

Now how, dear reader, did such a rap sheet get generated? The charge set off the brawl - tore the facemask off my opponent for fight number one. Referee escorts me to the box - but leaves the downed opponent, who has now gotten up and returned to the fray - leaving us down a man. My polite pleas for letting me return (the verbal abuse call) went unheard, so I had no choice but to pseudo-chokeslam the ref into the box and wedge my stick into the door, locking him in. Returned to the fracas and earned the second fighting major. My point, here? Well, there’s two:

1. That all resulted in a 33 game season-ending suspension (and I was signed to a junior B deal the next day)
2. Who the hell am I to judge another hockey player’s misdeeds on the ice - he’s playing for us, and I cannot WAIT for him to torment our opponents, especially those idiot leafs

The big question: Were you spot picking?

Numbers change just look at Lucic

They do, but iirc Lucic was given a higher # like most young guys coming in. They didn't expect him to make the team out of camp and when he did it was shortly after that they let him change his number. This is a different situation. #21 is already assigned to Lysell. If Lysell wants he could let Hathaway have the number, but he's not obligated to let him have it.

Technically they gave him that in preseason but bro's never even made the NHL squad so I don't think he has any rights to the number at the pro level.

The Bruins let Lysell choose his number, he wasn't just given the number 21. We'll find out tomorrow what each guy will wear. Hathaway also wore #64 when he played for Calgary

Welcome Hathaway... I guess

God I hate him lol.... mixed feeling

Wreck havoc on TBL and Canes... all will be forgiven

Dude is trash on the ice. Cheap. Spot picker. Turtles. Good 4th liner skill wise though. Won't be the first Bruin I can't stand, but obviously will root him on. This place has pulled the greatest about face ever though on him, well done.

I just need him to not take dumb penalties

At least help make it 4 on 4.... Since the Bruins is one of the best in the league

Against the Canes and TBL (Maroon) .... GH will definitely help

Canes were the ones agitating the Bruins last season. Can't let that happen again.

That is a fact. 3 days ago I recall opinions of Hathaway as “POS”… “I’ll stop watching the Bruins”… time flies

I think it's gotta be a happy medium. Guy is a complete asshole. No question about it. But now he's OUR asshole. And Cap fans loved him. I assume this is how people see Marchy.

Hes no Evander Kane, so I can give him a shot here and see how it goes. He's 8th in the league in hits. So at the very least he's gonna give us some good hitting that was missing. It's up to him to put on a good impression.
