Anyone else feel like their heads going to explode trying to go from despising the way Hathaway plays to cheering for the way he plays.

Just hope he is able to make good decisions and not get suspended during the playoffs. Bs have plenty of toughness now. Not sure if DS could have added a better bottom 6 player with the combo of skill and toughness that Hathaway has.

Since he carried our Dover Stars peewee team to the New Hampshire state travel title in '02. He played on our team despite being two years younger than us (his brother is my age) - he was far and away the best player in the league.
Oh I want some stories here…not dirt but how good was he?

Mr. Make-Believe

The happy genius of my household
I said a few days ago that Gavrikov/Barbashev was my dream deadline. I think what we got is better.

Here’s the thing. Hathaway has been my least favourite NHLer for some time. And while I know this isn’t based on any sort of reality or measurable - there’s something about acquiring him that FEELS like “well that team deserves to lose”. I liken it to when the Canucks traded for Max Lapierre at their deadline in 2011. I think I said at the time “if you’re the top team in the league and you look at your roster… and you think your team isn’t Max Lapierre enough, then you kinda deserve to lose.”

Hathaway at his best is precisely what the Bruins needed on the fourth line. And with the addition of Orlov, their defense should feel confident that they can kill off penalties if the Bruins choose to dictate pace with their physicality. Marchand, Foligno, Frederic and Hathaway on three of your four lines and your other one is Zacha - Krejci - Pastrnak. That is dictating the pace territory 60 minutes a god damn game. Whatever the opponent. It all makes sense.

But I’m gonna have a rough time cheering for this guy if he continues to spot pick and if he goes over the line and tries to injure people. I don’t want to be the team that deserves to lose.

He’s a good skater and is defensively responsible. High end 4th liner. Won’t hurt the team on line 3. Love him

Same exact boat. I didn’t even know this was an option!

The Canucks deserved to lose because they had 5 Lapierre’s, we only got 2 shit heads now ;). Doesn’t compare!
