Former Bruins Garnet Hathaway

Does this guy have any suspensions or fines other than the spitting incident? I remember he boarded Tinordi in a game versus us and got tossed.

Is he dirty or does he just hit a lot and get involved in scrums a lot?

I can't remember the last time a team I root for acquired a player I openly detest. This feels gross.
Zac Rinaldo....Never liked his play and never warmed up to him.

Thankfully he wasn't with the Bs long. He used to hack away at other players so the other team would do the same to Bergy. I never saw him stand up for anyone other than himself. I remember the look on Quaider's face at one of the games....my guess is Adam was not a fan of Rinaldo.

Welcome to Boston Garnet. Please prove me wrong. I really do want to like you. It is up to you.

I will love seeing how angry opposing fans get when he pulls his antics
Maybe he will take some of the hate off of Brad.

but what does Chibby think?

Funny you should ask - I just woke up to him whispering in my ear “garnet will win everyone over within two games of wearing the jersey”

That’s why he’s here so Brad can worry about hockey when other teams start playing dirty. You’d rather have Hatheway in the box. Also I get the not liking players on other teams but players are different they’ve already accepted him as a Bruin. He’s on our side now and as much as I hated him on the Caps I love the fact that he’s going to get under the other teams skin hit everything in sight and just be an ass$&&. I just like that type of player Marchand Hatheway etc and I know from your comments you’re a huge Marchand fan:cheer::laugh: He’s going to go out there his first shift at Garden and win over the fans you included!

He is big fast and violent. He will have the other teams D looking over their shoulder every time.

Something I didnt know or remember.

The Boston Bruins made a splash Thursday night prior to the NHL trade deadline by acquiring forward Garnet Hathaway and Dmitry Orlov from the Washington Capitals.

But this isn’t the first time the 31-year-old Hathaway has been on Boston’s radar as he has a tie to the organization.

It came a decade ago, but Hathaway, a bruising bottom-six forward who has nine goals and seven assists in 59 games this season, participated in the the Bruins’ development camp in 2013. He was one of five players invited by the Bruins to attend that camp.

And Hathaway sure seemed to soak up that opportunity.

“It’s an amazing experience. A lot of fun,” Hathaway toldthe Providence Journal at the time. “They work us hard on the ice. They teach us a lot of stuff off the ice. I’m just lucky to be here.”

I saw a fair amount of him in Calgary and I always wanted him on boston.
I am pretty sure he will be a fan favorite in short order. Also can be utility forward like Foligno in a pinch.

The east is going to be a war.

I know very little about him.

How is his speed/skating? Offensive ability?

My fear is this guy ends up being the washed up Simmonds Toronto landed a few years back? Please tell me I'm dead wrong.

BTW love that his a MA native! He must be dying to play for Boston.

He is nowhere near the player that Brad is. I hope Hathaway wins me over. That remains to be seen.

I understand that Marchand is so good you overlook the other stuff. I think he will. Let me know when he does:laugh:

Marchy has cut back on the crap over the years.

Before it felt like Bergy was grabbing him by the back of the jersey every game and telling him to stop.

Now he takes his anger out on their scoreboard.

IMO, Brad has every reason to get angry. The stripes not only call him for stuff they wouldn't call other players for but they also (and this is worse IMO) let the other teams cheap shot Brad almost every game. You see more of this when you are at the games. It REALLY pisses me off.

He literally just roofed one on Clifton's and Ulmark's dome last week.
He's far from washed. Top 4th liner in the league. Like top 10 in hits every year. He's a ground and pound for sure. I'm curious if he can create on his own or if he's just straight line/masher. Career high 14 goals so he's limited in some respects for sure.
But I picture what Cal Clutterbuck did to us a few years ago (embarrass) as Hathaway's role. He fills a need and is in the right role. Don't ask him to do too much.
Half of his highlights are injuring Bruins so he might need to squash some beefs first thing.

He's not washed up. he plays a heavy game, hit's, forechecks and can score a bit.

Lucic's physical play + Acciari's offense

He averages 10-15 goals, 15-25 points, 225-250 hits

Old Brad was trying to surface last night. In previous years he probably would have crossed the line.
And agree wholeheartedly that he gets abused in a lot of situations with no calls.

In 2011, we were the hammer and the other teams were the nail. Since then, we've been the nail. Hathaway is a hammer that will take out the other team's best player and not give two shits about it. We've needed a guy like that for a long, long time.

And maybe most important he is a very good defensive player. Not like you are paying for some tough guy who is gonna get trapped in their own zone chasing around looking for a big hit rather than being able to make a play
