Fallout 76: 7/10

I just finished (almost, I'll explain later) the main quest and did The Pitt missions. I have to say that I hated the game at 1st because there are no pausing, no slow motion with VATS, weapon degradation, radiant daily quests/events and annoying players. I just beaten Fallout 4 so there was a lot of adjusting to do.

The game finally grew on me. I started the gamne in March 2022, so the Wastelander update was part of the game so it felt more like a Fallout game (I wonder what it was like at launch tho). Since I discovered that I can reject daily quests and events, I could now sort the "to do" quest list and focus on the main and side quests. The only one I couldn't finish was the Brotherhood of Steel main quest because there's a known bug in the Disarming Discovery quest (if you kill Dagger with explosive, the key you have to retrieve on her body won't spawn).

The Mistress of Mystery quest was a lot of fun. Reminded me the Silver Shroud quest in FO4, There's a connection between the 2 in the Fallout lore.

I finished the game at lvl 73 so some part were very hard for me since I play as a loner.
I started playing over the summer and I love this game. I’m around a 125 right now and while I’m not a big mmo game person the community of people that play are awesome. Always helping each other out and stuff.

Yeah, I met one guy when I was lvl 25 and he helped me get the backpack plans and crafted a pocketed power armor, pocket body armor, silenced automatic shotgun, composite bow with explosive arrows, other weapons and a shitload of ammo that a carried over my playthrough. Before that I was really struggling in finding ammo and I had no powerful weapons.

I'm 9 hours in Cyberpunk 2077. I had a hard time adjusting in the 1st act. Now I'm starting to like it but I don't think I will complete a lot of side quests. The story is really nice so I think I'm gonna stick to the main quests.

Glad I didn't buy into the Callisto Protocol hype and pre-order. Pretty meh reviews, probably buy when it's on sale.

Still working on GoW Ragnarok... amazing game, it's so good.

I did, however, pre-order Marvel Midnight Suns. Played a little bit last night, interesting card based combat. Might take a while to get the hang of...

I'd like to play CP, however it's supposedly a stutterfest on PC and the difficulty spikes are absolutely insane.

Started A Plague Tale: Requiem... pretty to look at, but so linear and "you have to do things the way we want you to do things." Lost interest within a few hours. Might push through it eventually because I hear the story is really solid, but not a fan of that kind of gameplay.

Switched over to The Outer Worlds instead... so much better. Love it so far. I'm about 60%ish done and excited that the sequel is coming out next year.

XCOM2 is one of my favourite games ever so I'm excited for Midnight Suns... but I've heard a lot of negative talk around The Abbey and the cringey dialog / soap opera aspect.

Anyone get that far in the game yet? Does it add a lot to the game? Or does it feel like a slog?

I love that Plague Tale is linear but that’s because I’m burnt out on open worlds.

I don’t believe Outer Worlds 2 is coming out next year. Likely a little further out.

Watching streams on it and the combat looks like the bad type of punishing.

It's all based on melee combat (because that's what we loved Dead Space for!) with a dodge system that doesn't really work well. You take damage from blocking ala soulsborne and you will routinely get killed by enemies off screen/out of your view because there's no dodge/threat indicator like any other third person game (god of war being the most recent one cited as an example)

One guy I watched explained it as such. Soulsborne games are designed to be "frustrating" but there was always an answer to the question you were being asked, or so to speak. Doesn't seem to be the case with Callisto.

So in essence, they ripped off soulsborne without understanding what made said games engaging.

Oh really? The sites I saw were saying likely 2023. Either way, should be fun.
Yeah, I think it's a while out. Doesn't even look like Avowed which was announced even earlier by Obsidien will come out before 2024. I really enjoyed the original Outer Worlds too. But, I think its gonna be a fair bit of wait, MS has been announcing games really early until this last event. A ton of stuff shown off at the original X-Box series reveal don't have a release date or have even shown gameplay (Everwild, State of Decay 3, and Avowed). MS goal is to have atleast one big AAA game a qtr, and the first 3 for next year seem to be Redfall, Forza Motorsport and Starfield. Maybe they get something like Hellblade 2 out in the fall/winter of 2023.

Obsidian has been busy!

Avowed does look pretty cool - any idea if there will be multiplayer / co-op play?

Add Grounded (which I'm having a blast with) and Pentiment to that, and yeah, they have a full slate.

I haven't played Requiem, but I recently played the first game, Innocence. I felt the same way about that, that being so linear and expecting the player to do the expected on cue wasn't engaging or my kind of gameplay. It felt like being a dog on a leash or in a game's tutorial that never ends. In fact, it felt a lot like the first several hours of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, but at least that eventually really opened up. I pushed through Innocence, but it never did get enjoyable to me. It's disappointing that Requiem sounds like more of the same because the visuals and setting are so appealing.

No idea, the game has been rebooted and it is unclear what is being kept and what isn't. I don't think they've ever done a deep dive on what features are going to be in it.

Started Deathloop. Played enough to get the gist of it now. It's pretty fun, but is there ever actually a puzzle to solve? Or you just keep following the leads?

Also with my World Cup fever, I started a career on FIFA '22 (got it free on PS+ earlier this year). I was looking for a World Cup mode to play, but I guess it's only offered in FIFA '23? I should expect nothing less coming from organizations like EA and FIFA, but still pretty lame.

I got Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection for free with my CPU. I'm about 3 hours in and on chapter 7. Is this supposed to just be an interactive movie? I'm pretty sure I've only held a gun for a collective 20 minutes so far...
This is a reason why I keep going back to retro shooters, which are 99.9% gameplay. I'll play a modern AAA game, often get frustrated at the lack of gameplay and then want to follow it with something with little to no story. I don't mind a story to connect the gameplay together. I just don't want it to feel like the gameplay exists to connect the story together. I've wanted to check out Uncharted to see what all the fuss is about, but it sounds like I'll hate it.

I remember playing Uncharted 1 & 2 and enjoying them. I do not remember them being so focused on cinematics and story. I know there was a lot of story and cinematics but I felt like it was a healthy balance of those. This one is just like I can kick my feet up and let go of the keyboard and mouse. The story's interesting enough for me to keep going but I just wish it would let me play it more.
