If we play like we did last night and Mika and Kreider get going,we win this 1 comfortably by a few goals

Yes, the ESPN crew made a passing mention of it coming back on air after the TV timeout. They also said that he got a warm ovation, immediately angering 95% of the citizenry here.

The fans gave him a warm ovation and then he waved at them after he won? Scumbag is a scumbag.

This team doesn't have a ton of big-time shooters. And even the big shooters on the team sometimes doubt their own shots. That's partly why this team heavily relies on deception and theatricality for tap-in chances and goals. Zib and Panarin are the two guys who can score on straight shots, but 30% of Zib's effectiveness is taken away when everyone knows on the power play the puck is going to him for a shot attempt. Vatrano instantly became one of the team's best shooters when he got picked up at the deadline, and took his shot with him to free agency. They have to create their own shooting luck, imo.
I'm not necessarily sure I agree with that, but I do think the overall scope of this team leans a bit towards playmaking than shooting talent. I don't think it matters too much in the long run. Just for context, I dove into Valiquette's data - massive caveat that it's all-situations since the even strength data isn't available - and they're simply underperforming expectations right now. Like I said, I don't think it'll continue in the long run. That being said, my optimism will of course result in a grueling loss to the Isles tonight that has everyone calling to tank for Bedard.

Any confirmation on Shesterkin or Halak? Is Jones back although Hajek was good. I think Lindgren looks hurt. He can get a game off here and there if needed. They need him for the playoffs.

They stopped going to the middle of the ice. Correlates with the major dip in High Danger Chances.

Someone needs to be attacking the middle/crashing the net. Not only for screens and their own chances but it opens up lanes for the rest of the team.

I do not understand why this team has struggled with this for yearssss. They need a hard coded system that demands a forward to do it. It's not a suggestion, it's a requirement.

Maybe he was waving to friends and family in the stands? Or maybe there were some people who held up "Georgiev #1 Starter" placards during the game and whom he noticed during a timeout?

He is not a god. He's simply a man from Bulgaria. We shouldn't be so emotionally attached.

Nothing, but he's the best we've got right now and maybe he can get going with Zibanejad and Kakko. Can't be worse than Kreider has been at ES and Kreider-Goodrow-Vesey could be a really good defensively responsible 3rd line that could chip in offense occasionally while taking on the tough defensive matchups.
Kreider has history and even if he's half of last year that's more than can be expected of Kravtsov, so why bother?

I can't think of a worse matchup tonight. Say what you want about the Rangers but they lay it all on the line and played 65 minutes yesterday. Now the Islanders that frustrate you to shit are here the next day and I can unfortunately see a really poor performance. Hopefully I'm wrong and yesterday's game gave them confidence plus they'll be desperate to end their losing streak.

Hopefully the reason Gauthier is in the lineup is that the coach realized that speed is an issue and Carpenter sits.....i don't know who plays center though so its likely gauthier in for who?

In all honesty as much as I want Igor in tonight like the rest of the board - really can't see Gallant putting him in the very next night where he faced quite a bit of rubber in taking the defending champs through OT and an extended shootout.

I think Igor would be good to play, just can't see Gallant doing it unfortunately.

I think Kravtsov will be a good player eventually but i dont think playing the Islanders and the way they play is gonna help his cause, plus its possible his arm is hurt so i could see him sitting. Id honestly have blais goodrow and vesey as our 3rd tonight.
The Isles are probably the team Krav has scored most against lol. Like 6 times incl preseason
But knowing this using tie for a napkin smooth brain imbecile I fully expect him to scratch him

Playing Halak 2 outta 3 would be ridiculous
3 out of 5.

It's a failure anyway you cut it

That line worked well in the limited time they had.

Our 4th line is an abomination
