Did Hane start for Germany today. Cant watch game cause of work so these are my updates ! Lol
Regarding your goalie example (which is not very good exactly because it's the most specific position in the game), there are 2 main problems. First of all, rink size is an adjustment to everyone so the question becomes not the quality, but they habits. Secondly, is there any substantial evidence Francouz or Shestyorkin couldn't have played in the NHL right away? Teams just have chosen to send them to the AHL for different reasons. Lastly, regarding Koskinen, I don't think many people are losing sleep over that contract this season. Many were doubtful, naturally and it's hard to understand how did Koskinen get the leverage to ask for that kind of money but realistically, it's a pretty fair contract. And then, for fun, where would you rank the AHL?
People hate my take on this but I have the AHL is number 2. Everyone says KHL then SEL and I totally get why but almost all the goalies and D in the NHL were in the AHL before hitting the NHL (including Seider). The only goalie in the last decade to make the NHL without AHL time is Koskinen and that is considered one of the worst contracts handed out in years.
There you go.. your powerplay is coming. I'll be in SHOCK if you don't score on it. Hockey Karma. That was a bull**** frequence but hopefully we can get some momentum back now

1. NHL
2. AHL
3. KHL
4. SEL
5. Liiga
6. Swiss
7. Czech
8. DEL
Yes, I realize no one agrees with my take.

Regarding all these rankings, it just depends so much on what emphasis do you put on depth. NLA is considered so good because they have 10 good teams even though those rankings somebody linked show their CHL results are not that great. But CHL doesn't value depth at all. If we take 10th team in NLA vs 10th in DEL/Liiga/Extraliga they probably blow them out of the water. AHL vs KHL comparison faces the same problem. KHL has weak teams, AHL has weak teams. KHL has powerhouses, AHL sometimes does, sometimes doesn't. The way I see it, that's where KHL's edge is. My ranking would be:
NHL
KHL>AHL/SHL/NLA
Liiga/DEL/Extraliga
EBEL
The rest
I think the leagues that I wrote in the same line, that can all be argued. It just depends on the criteria you evaluate them on. The gaps between the lines are pretty significant.
Which doesn't take into account how good the league's depth is at all because only the top teams play there. While the whole "powerfulness" of the NLA is that rich team like Zurich can become champions in 2018 and play in relegation round in 2019 because the league is truly deep and competitive. Unlike any other European league, pretty much.Yes I know
The only competetion between the european leagues.
