I think my level of "optimism" about German hockey is right, you seem to be a little harsh on the Czechs though..

HUGE Dostal save! German powerplay looks great.. it's funny to hear the commentator's because it sounds like this:

'first round player passing to future first round player who passes it another first round player'... German's are coming! In 5 month's they'll have at least 4 first rounders... Bokk, Seider, Stutzl and Peterka! Reichel might as well.

We only have Seider and maybe Hüttl and Mik. But after them our d depth is brutal

I might be... it's hockey PTSD.

Eg. we beat Canada a few years ago and then lost to Germany 3-0 the next day. While not us.. Slovakia beat Russia in the opening game of the last Olympics and then didn't make the quarters. Crowd is very quiet... Czechs look nervous while German's send wave after wave of speed and skill. I've been worried about this game for weeks!

I think that was him getting hurt by Peterka. FTR.. not a smart play from Peterka.. he's playing awesome and needs to be on the ice and not taking penalties against our 'cage kid'. Russian's did this against us too, had control and took silly penalties.

It's pretty difficult to figure out what is what between Czech, Finnish and German leagues. They are roughly the same at 4-6 spots IMO.
