Post-Game Talk: Game 5

FLA has ground the Rangers down with physical play and it seems like the Rangers want no part of it save a handful of guys.

They need to drive the net, make plays from behind the goal line, obstruct them on their entries.
The guys who want no part of it I want no part of on this team. Ship them all out. They are losers.

MSL was good, not great in 2014 and it as enough to get us into the Finals because we were actually a good team with depth.
We didn’t have a single “great” skater (meaning non goalie) in 2014 which really speaks to the depth

Still can't get over Mika trying to sell a call instead of stopping Bennett on the empty net.

I get the logic. But he has to understand that calls aren't going the Rangers way.

Alternatively. Gus was f***ing putrid.
Common denominator: TROUBA! Miller looks like a different player when he's not paired with our stiff captain.

This is true.

As good as Igor has been (I know you always want the goalie to allow 0 goals sometimes but whatever)

With that said, I have said this for years now that I don't believe any goalie is worth the contract Igor is going to ask for. It will hamper our roster construction moving forward.

So we have to figure something out. But this is a major concern of mine as well
I have the answer. Set up a one on one with Hank. Allow Hank to explain his answer "if he had to do it all over again" would he "take quite a bit less AAV" so that they could afford a scoring forward, which could've helped win a Cup, or "Get what you can get".
In other words, trade some dough for immortality.
Igor's going to have a great financial life regardless, wouldn't be living this great American life in Russia. It would behoove him and the team to NOT be greedy. Just ask Hank.

Scouts somehow completely missed the fact that he cannot skate.
Two things here.

One: I think his skating has actually taken a hit since his draft. He has gotten bigger, and not focused enough on keeping up with the skating. That's on him, his support cast, but somewhat also on the Rangers. This is an organization that should be able to focus on getting individual training plans to the players and tell them what to do. It has been obvious for years now.

Two: His style of play in general is an anti-thesis for how the Rangers play, and his skating issues are very exposed in our specific system that relies on rush attack.

But I think it's mostly #1. In the World Championships before the draft, he had no problem outskating Canadian NHL defenders for breakaways. That simply doesn't happen with him in the NHL, they always catch him.

Not sure what your point is. Do you want people to not talk about how the team is flawed and built shittily
I think what he's trying to say is, do you want to look at the glass as half full, or empty? Again, we should count our blessings. Ummm, I do believe there are 28 teams watching both series, wishing they were still playing.

He's not a guy you win tough hockey games with, he's become 1 dimensional and that dimension isn't even that good. Idk how you move him but I would try hard in the off season.
Oh yeah, that's a brilliant move. While we're at it, lets keep WHENberg in his place. We won't even make the PO's.

Feels like Kakko should be mastering this skill given his lack of speed. He’s big. Why can’t he dominate in front of the net?

Front of the net?

It's takes effort, determination and a general understanding that you have actually engage and battle for space in front that means physical contact. Something our guys seem to want to avoid.

Here's some fun facts for the crowd that thinks Igor walks on water:

- Barkov was -2 last night 0G 0A 0P
- Reinhart was -2 last night 0G 0A 0P
- Florida was 0/3 on the PP and allowed a SHG

And we still lost.

If you DVR'd the game and all you knew was the above stat lines, it would be impossible for you to believe the Rangers lost.

This was THE most winnable game of the f***ing series. Back breaking weak goals killed us. Period dot.

Pure horseshit.

Won two, same as either Dallas or Edmonton after tonight.

Every game has been close.

Their effort has been fine.

People here complain about how crap Rangers personnel is AND say their effort sucks. That should add up to losing in 4 and being outscored 32-3.

Shesterkin.

Love the Rangers!

Is Miller nursing an injury? Is he dealing with a back or core issue?

Also, Panarin and Zibby looked off last night. And the FLA game plan around Kreider is working.

Someone's gotta take the pressure off CK.

Anyway....Go Rangers!! I'm outta here. Have a great day.

Carolina Game 5.

Same story, but you omit a few chapters: inept PP, get pinned in your own zone, careless turnovers.

save some for the rest of us.
Oh yeah coming from hall of famer Marty Biron. Not wrong about Shesty needing to make that save but "he has to be better?" Really? Yeah, blame Shesty. How about the forwards and defense being "better" and doing their JOBS. How about for once getting a 2 goal lead and allow Shesty to breathe? Every save he's made are literally game saving saves. Switch chances with Bobrovsky and this series is over already in our favor.

This doesn't prove that Igor sucks. This proves that our depth sucks and that we've gotten next to zero offensive contribution outside of our top 5 forwards and Goodrow.

My argument isn't that Igor sucks. My argument is that he deserves criticism for last game and everyone is too scared to sack up and say the messiah cost us a winnable game. Like Igor is Boeing and people are afraid they're getting picked off as they leave their house if they say he wasn't good.

For the people in the back:

Nobody cares if you make 10 saves on grade A chances and then give up a 3rd period absolute BACK BREAKER low danger shot. It completely negates all the unreal saves you just made.

Florida is too good defensively to leave any margin for error for Igor, that's just the way it is. Be mad at Chris Drury for also not sacking up at the deadline and bolstering the D corps.

Thank God for Chad Ruhwedel, though.

Our depth AND our top forwards suck. 2/5 top forwards (Laf, Tro) are actually pulling their weight. Kreider, Zibanejad, Panarin... Not good enough. I don't give a f*** that they scored a goal last night, that's 1 goal in 5 f***ing games. Not good enough. f*** crying about the depth when the top guys produce f*** all.

The Rangers are here in large part because of Igors play.

So he can let up 2 goals (both of which he got a piece of) and thats ok.

Said it the entire playoffs. The Rangers score 3 goals for Igor and they win.

Last night they needed only 2 (!) and had a PP with 12 min left. Sorry but the skaters had to get it done and they didnt.

Thankfully they have another shot. This team hasnt lost 3 in a row many times

It's incredible how he is beyond reproach like Hank was. Hank straight up stunk for games at a time in the playoffs and God forbid you said anything. Igor hasn't had that but gives up backbreakers every game. And we have to pretend it didn't happen.
