They just need a couple of guys who can do that.

I know it's the third year, same thing. I get where you're coming from. But it's also third straight deadline that the guys they added do NOTHING to address anything you're talking about. Vatrano was a perimeter volume shooter, Kane is Kane, Tarasenko is a shooter, Wennberg is just Kakko at center. Roslovic is a solid rush player but is useless with a set defense in front of him.

This team needs a Hagelin and a Pouliot. A couple of guys who, in certain matchups, can be the impetus on a forecheck. The right players in the right spots can completely change a team.

And frankly, I don't want to completely remove the rush element from this team. Teams that just cycle all day don't score. That's why Kakko sucks.

I really think they just need a couple of pieces that legitimately address weaknesses to pull it together. Again, maybe I'll buy it with Zibanejad, because his awful puck management will kill players who try to cycle. I don't buy that Kreider and Panarin can't play that type of hockey. Especially Kreider.
Trying to fill in around the margins isn’t going to make the impact that’s necessary. Those guys are not meant to change everything. The core group is the issue. Kreider isn’t really that type of player anymore, he used to be a much bigger factor on the cycle, but he doesn’t have that sort of explosiveness, he’s also 33 so it makes sense he’s not that guy anymore. Hes adjusted his game and been an extremely effective player. I get that we shouldn’t become a pure cycle team, I agree that would be a bad idea. However, as you know more than anyone. puck is just as much about playing defense as it is trying to score. Florida isn’t exactly lighting up the scoreboard, partially because of Igor, it at the same time they wear the rangers down, kill clock and give up absolutely no chances to a team that is completely reliant on opportunistic scoring. Perhaps the rangers could win some of these games 1-0 if they could get the lead and cycle the puck in the offensive zone. But that never happens.

Hope you're enjoying it because this is it for this core. Kreider has way too many miles on him which is understandable after playing on teams with the best goalie in the league that couldn't figure out how to close out a series in 5 games for like the better part of a decade
Agreed 100 percent.

This group isn't getting back.

Kreider's game at 6.5M isn't the problem though

Altho I agree that Saturday night is the end, better get used to the Sheldon Keefe Effect next season. Debbie’s going to be in the side view mirror all season long.
They'll be good. They have no goalie though and Hughes's shoulder is a wildcard. Devils will be good and the Islanders will be competitive. Pittsburgh is a year older, Washington will probably regress, Columbus is basically starting from scratch, Carolina will be depleted, and Philadelphia is a completed wildcard.

They will get back but with Drury's picks. Igor has one more long run in him a la Henrik. It's going to be like when Washington finally did it a few years ago, it was without a lot of the guys who got them the cred in the first place.

I mean I'm not looking to clear the FO. Drury should get his chance to retool.

He's not perfect but he did sign Trochek

I don't disagree, I just don't think you necessarily have to blow up the team for them to cycle a bit more.

The team can win games and the East sucks right now. Me, personally, I'm giving them one more look with a healthy Fox and (hopefully) the beer league defensemen off the roster.

If it doesn't work, what, we start a rebuild one year later? I'm willing to take that risk.

I don't know why he never got a shot. He looked good in his 1 or 2 games that he played and can skate.

The f***ing Rempe mania didn't help.

He's not a bad player and he has an NHL future but he's played way too many games for a team with aspirations such as ours.

He's not losing us games but we have enough depth (including a pretty damn good #7 D) who could help us a lot more than Rempe's 2-5 minutes per contest.

Jones should've been in after G3. That's when it became clear we couldn't move the puck out of the zone.. and I have never been in favor of playing 7D

Is that George Jefferson?!?

Drury's at worst got his team deep into the ECF two of his first three years and has kept the prospect line steady/fixed a lot of the infrastructure in the organization. That's with barely any of his draft picks and him building his own version of a team.

He's in no danger of going anywhere anytime soon.

Is that George Jefferson?!?
Teddy Long or Theodore Long as he was known then in early 90s WCW.

I anticipate that’s what will happen, they don’t have much choice based on the contracts. I just don’t see a different outcome occurring with these same players as your top players again.

Blowing up the team because our feelings are hurt is not it, folks.
