Sounds like something one would say when even they don't know the reason why they played like they did.

Agreed until you get to the "We just weren't ready" bull ****. Sick of multi millionaire athletes not being able to summon some emotion and effort to play a ****ing game. The working stiff pays good money for this crap. Is it too much to expect a team to at least "be ready"and put some effort into the game?

We know that it is probably mandated by ownership to win now and build to win later. They missed the playoffs by 1 game with Eriksson, trading him for futures was guaranteeing a playoff seed miss, which would be against the ownership's wishes. I wouldn't blame Sweeney.

I dunno.I do not see him doing anything to help either. If were in a mode of waiting on draft picks to arrive they should be moving parts now on roster to set up for the future.Sweeney is not skilled enough to do both like Bowman in Chicago.Just my opinion.

Even the Hawks and Penguins shouldn't be taking any team lightly in today's league, let alone the Bruins.

The fact that this mentality even exists within the room is troubling.

Inexcusable. Same crap,. and they never do anything about it. This team lays so many eggs now. Not Julien's fault, but he's certainly an enabler. Lay the smack down ffs. Scratch some comfy vets for once. Cut ice time for the slackers.

10 years ago I was living in Chicago and would hang out in bar that was Boston friendly.

The barmaid was from Quincy and in her mid 20's. She was a huge Sox, Celts and Pats fan and when I mentioned the Bruins she said no interest.

In 2011 she was the biggest Bruins fan in the midwest

Hard for non-Bostonians to truly understand the Boston market.

There are and always will be a hardcore fanbase of B's fans. Enough to buy tickets and fill the arena most of the time.

But the team has always taken a backseat to at least 1 other team in the region, and for a good chunk of time they were #3 or #4.

In the 80s this was a Celtics and Red Sox town. And the 90s saw it become a Red Sox-Patriots town. For the last 10 years it's been a Patriots town and everyone else in the back.

Patriots
Red Sox
.
.
.
.
.
.Celtics/Bruins

For about 4-5 years the B's were at least within spitting distance of the Pats and Sox, but all that is gone. No water cooler talk about them, no buzz, no passion for or against. They are headed to the worst place of all, a place they were for a good chunk of the 80s-90s: Cultural Irrelevancy.

They'll still get the diehards, but not the general public.

I really don't get this home record thing. I mean, it's not an isolated occurrence. It's TWO seasons now that they suck relative to road record. You can't just brush if off as an in season anomaly. There is SOMETHING there. But what the hell is it?!!

Cause its not a good team.More pressure to win at home. They are proving they cannot handle pressure.Easy to see ...Loose goosie on road.No pressure.

Do they not realize it's still entirely possible they end up last in the conference? Even discarding the games in hand, the biggest lead they have is 9 points on Detroit, who they play twice over the next 8 days.

If you were hesitant to buy into some of the positive numbers the Bruins had been producing lately, well, it looks like you were of sound mind.

After a good win on Saturday over the Philadelphia Flyers, they put forth their typical follow-up — a bad loss.

The Bruins allowed three goals in 5:20 of the second period and lost to the New York Islanders, 4-0, at the Garden. The Islanders had come into the game as the last-place team in the Eastern Conference and were 26th in goals against (3.05 per game). It was the second time the Bruins have lost to the Islanders at the Garden, where they've yet to win consecutive games this season.

This was a stinker that saw Tuukka Rask get pulled at the end of the second period, after giving up the three goals on just 15 shots.

Eh, it was one awful (albeit really awful) game. Still think this team is doing better than expected this year, and there are some really promising signs like their possession numbers on the season.

It's hard to compare since you would have to analyze every contract and player property in the organization when he came aboard, and the ownership directives. Mike Milbury took a lot of grief for NYI player decisions and finally he admitted that ownership had his hands tied on several occasions. We just don't know. But it ain't easy to build when you are told you have to do both with prior existing issues.

You cannot teach talent. This team gave away Tyler Seguin for Joe Morrow.(yes I know Chia was GM then but Don was there too) Should have moved Loui last year to at least justify it a little bit.Don Sweeney will go down as an epic failure as a GM.Go ahead and chew me out ,tell me how I am wrong. His draft picks save the day etc etc etc.Unless he can prove he can make astute trades he will never be good.

Ok fine. I agree they have holes. BUT, do they gain more talent on their way to road games and mysteriously lose it on the way back at 39 000 feet?

Absolutely.

How about playing hard to keep and continue to EARN your spot. That's a non-issue for this group. Too many of them know they are "locked in" to their respective line-up position.

I just think they play loose on the road.At home they been booed and know they stunk last year there. They grip sticks tighter. And yes part of it is they really lack talent as a group. That defence is a mess for sure .If they miss playoffs a 3rd straight year it points directly to a talent issue as a group.

I'm glad after missing the playoffs by a point two years in a row and their spot again questionable, our team still speaks about taking another one too lightly.

My boys first ever Bruins game today, and this is the turd they had to watch!!! Thankfully I didn't pay for the tickets, but still it wasn't cheap. Not even a fight, scrap, shoving? Pathetic effort.

On the plus side the Isles are my second team, so it wasn't all bad I guess.

I've been a wait and see guy with Sweeney. He hasn't had enough time on the job yet IMO. I've liked a lot of what he's done. But I don't think he's done enough to improve the product in the present. You've made some good points...and I fear he's going to sink or swim with those picks. The thing is, he doesn't just need to hit on a few of them...which I think he will because there are some solid prospects there. BUT..he needs some home runs...#1 and #2 defencemen. That's a tall order!

Great great great post.

But, but, but, We have Tory Krug on defense. Surely you have heard of this franchise defensemen. How could we have no talent on the blueline ?He was only minus 3 today but his greatness will over come anything.

We need RAY BOURQUE
