If teams with games in hand go a mediocre .500 for those games, Bruins are on outside looking in. Not peering in the window kind of looking in, but standing across the street kind of outside looking in. If B's management sees playoffs right now they are using high power binoculars.

Wow... "angry"?? Folks need to chill a bit. Re-read the PGT of the Philly game, put things in perspective. S*** happens. I can't imagine what would happen if we had a stretch of 10+ years like Toronto had. Or the Oilers. A 4-0 loss to the Islanders and this thread feels like Mad Max world.

I don't think the reaction is crazy. We've seen this movie. These are the games that cause you to miss the playoffs by two points. We're well on the way to a repeat of last year. IS Stepniak available for a 2nd, maybe he'll help

Holy overreaction of a post game... So they pitched a stinker against a crap team. S*** happens. Move on.

I hardly think it's an over reaction as this isn't their first stinker game against a bad team. They have left a lot of key points on the board and this team is in serious danger.

The only reason to move on is because this is not a good team. This was a very poor effort from the net out.

I guess the play reflected the score. They just refuse to go over .500 at home. Really frustrating. If they do make the playoffs, great. If they flame out and get a top 10 pick, that's fine. But if they miss the playoffs by one spot and draft 14th again, I expect a change.

Also they lost badly to the Islanders at home only 3 weeks ago. That alone should have motivated them.

Exactly. And that is why I refuse to believe CJ is the main issue here. If somehow he has to make a rah-rah speech to the players and motivate them to win games like this then the Bs have much larger problems than the coach, and I think they indeed do.

If this is the case why do they continue to sell out?

Hard for non-Bostonians to truly understand the Boston market.

There are and always will be a hardcore fanbase of B's fans. Enough to buy tickets and fill the arena most of the time.

But the team has always taken a backseat to at least 1 other team in the region, and for a good chunk of time they were #3 or #4.

In the 80s this was a Celtics and Red Sox town. And the 90s saw it become a Red Sox-Patriots town. For the last 10 years it's been a Patriots town and everyone else in the back.

Patriots
Red Sox
.
.
.
.
.
.Celtics/Bruins

For about 4-5 years the B's were at least within spitting distance of the Pats and Sox, but all that is gone. No water cooler talk about them, no buzz, no passion for or against. They are headed to the worst place of all, a place they were for a good chunk of the 80s-90s: Cultural Irrelevancy.

They'll still get the diehards, but not the general public.

You cannot teach talent. This team gave away Tyler Seguin for Joe Morrow.(yes I know Chia was GM then but Don was there too) Should have moved Loui last year to at least justify it a little bit.Don Sweeney will go down as an epic failure as a GM.Go ahead and chew me out ,tell me how I am wrong. His draft picks save the day etc etc etc.Unless he can prove he can make astute trades he will never be good.

Typical Marchand. These dudes are overpaid fat cats it would seem. Like Randy Moss they play when they wanna play. They are all married with kids nows, that just equals laziness. :)

We know that it is probably mandated by ownership to win now and build to win later. They missed the playoffs by 1 game with Eriksson, trading him for futures was guaranteeing a playoff seed miss, which would be against the ownership's wishes. I wouldn't blame Sweeney.

This team shouldn't be taking any team lightly, we aren't the Hawks or Penguins. IMO this is on the coaching staff.

Even the Hawks and Penguins shouldn't be taking any team lightly in today's league, let alone the Bruins.

The fact that this mentality even exists within the room is troubling.

In my mind, coaches are responsible for strategy and player usage. Motivation needs to come from the players. Coaches can't be, and shouldn't have to be, 1980 Herb Brooks or Knute Rockne before every game. These players are professionals and should have enough pride to put forth the effort and be ready to play.

I really don't get this home record thing. I mean, it's not an isolated occurrence. It's TWO seasons now that they suck relative to road record. You can't just brush if off as an in season anomaly. There is SOMETHING there. But what the hell is it?!!
