It was called as incidental contact. But we didn't push the Dallas D into Kari he went on his own. And it was waved really quick by the ref. He didn't even hesitate.

So theres a good chance it was a good goal? On NHL network they said "Trevor lewis pushes (idk) into the goalie, good call, it had to be waved off theres no disputing that". they said something really close to that.

Anyone know if Al Michaels attended the game? He got arrested for DUI at around 9:30. Looks like he had too many drinks at the game!

I think it happened last night in Santa Monica. It happened right after Reese "Do you know my name?" Witherspoons arrest for being a diva .

Yes, at full speed it was a close call. And 9/10 times on a play like the the offensive player pushes the D in. But in the case it looked as if Lewis stopped up and didn't push him. But that was much more evident on the replay. I think it was a bad call but one I can give more of a pass for the ref making. It was close.

Here ...

and YES it was a GOOD GOAL, Lewis BARELY TOUCHED the Dallas D man, the refs blew the call  Mike Hasenfratz ... I swear he HATES US ... he was the Ref from the Av's game what 7-8 years back where AM just about jumped off the bench onto the Ice, and the Fan's tossed stuff onto the Ice for what seemed like 5 minutes, he's a ********.

Dallas should be happy with the NHL gifted point. They were beaten up like a rented mule by the Kings.
This game should not have gone to OT...;)

The explanation given to brown about the Dallas second goal is that the puck was hit above the crossbar but below the shoulder. A goal is disallowed above the crossbar, but the puck has to be hit above the shoulder to be blown dead.

Sounds like the right call was made on that goal.

The Dallas player JUMPED to swing at that. Shoulder level my ass.

It wasn't a shot. It was knocking the puck down with a high stick, and the whistle should have been blown immediately.

How so? The whistle never blows immediately after a puck is knocked out of the air with a high stick. It's only blown if a player from the same team touches it first. In this case Quick was the next player to touch it. Then Dallas scored. The linesman had his arm up signalling high stick but put it down after Quick made the save.

The only question is: does the player from the opposing team just have to touch the puck to wave off the high stick? If so, or if they call Quick's save making a controlled play on the pick, then they made the right call and it's a good goal.

Lewis' waved off goal....that was just straight up BS.

Wasn't it changed to crossbar/board level for any stick/puck contact???

Besides...that puck was hit over Mike Cvik's shoulders...and he's only a miniscule 6'10"...

Rule 62 (d):

“Contacting the puck above the normal height of the shoulders with the stick is prohibited and when it occurs, play shall be stopped and the ensuing face-off shall be at the spot where the offense occurred, unless:

(1) a player of the non-offending team obtains possession and control of the puck, in which case play shall continue.

(2) a player of the offending side shall bat the puck into his own goal, in which case the goal shall be allowed.

(3) the offending team gains a territorial advantage, then the face-off shall be where the stoppage of play occurred, unless otherwise stated in the rules.†(Canadian Hockey Referee’s Case Book/Rule Combination, 2001, pg. 173).

Quick had possession, but not control. The player on the opposing team needs to have both.

The rule is quite clear. The problem is they are claiming that it wasn't above the shoulder. And I'm not sure what play they were looking at.

80.1 High-sticking the Puck – Batting the puck above the normal height of the shoulders with a stick is prohibited. When a puck is struck with a high stick and subsequently comes into the possession and control of a player from the offending team (including the player who made contact with the puck), either directly or deflected off any player or official, there shall be a whistle.

But even so if they claiming it wasn't above the shoulder this rule should still stand. Since the play was a continuation. Quick never had control. Because it is stupid to say because Quick actually made the save that the play counts.

80.3 Disallowed Goal – When an attacking player causes the puck to enter the opponent’s goal by contacting the puck above the height of the crossbar, either directly or deflected off any player or official, the goal shall not be allowed. The determining factor is where the puck makes contact with the stick. If the puck makes contact with the stick below the level of the crossbar and enters the goal, this goal shall be allowed.

We were playing this combo drinking game. Every time the refs blew a call you had to take a shot. Also, Al had his Blackberry and was logged into HFBOARDS, and every time a Stars' fan whined about Brown you had to chug a beer.

I'm at a complete loss that there are Dallas fans complaining about the officiating (in our favor)

One of the worst officiated games I've ever attended.

You guys know me as one who will not criticize officials, because I believe they are doing their best.

All teams have off nights, this one belonged to the officials.

In the end, it didn't cost us anything. But what a brutal game to watch...even then, it was a blast to attend.

Loved the way we finished this game...like champs. We didn't get two points, we took two points. Best of Kings hockey right there.
