GDT: Game #40 - New York Rangers @ Montreal Canadiens - 7pm EST, MSG

My sister insisted I watch an episode of "Euphoria" with her, and I'm now convinced that generation Z would be about 10x happier and more content with their lives if they'd just spend less time on the internet.

I used to pretend I was huck fin and build makeshift rafts to go down the Grasse river. Now people are all staring at kpop people online and looking for celebrities to shame like the Red Guard during Mao's great step forward.

Really is kind of sad how these past few generations don't really have the capacity to sit around and just "shoot the shit" without a phone in their hand. True that back then, we all were busy passing around a joint, and everybody knows its difficult doing that and trying to tweet or whatever else they do on social media.

There are pros & cons to everything of course, if it weren't for the internet we wouldn't have HF. But, it seems like in the old days people were friends even when they didn't share the same interests, hobbies, the same views, etc. These days many people cut off their IRL friends to seek out niche communities online where every person thinks the same way they do.

I'm an IT guy thru and thru but have come to understand that I would love nothing more than when IT actually helps our "analogue" life (aka IRL) than to *become* it.
Like a CNC or a some chemichal machinery helping to produce better boats or fishing poles or bikes rather than having super-duper AI accelerators just to show you ads and stupidly track your online activity. f*** f*cebook.

I try to add some fun to the GDT’s but running out of ideas here. 82 games is a lot. Lol.

When in doubt I fall back to Nick Cage gifs. Lol.

I just read something last night that indicated that Gen Z is now entering the workforce, i.e., transitioning from school to real life, but is generally anxious, fragile, and depressed because of social media upbringing.

I think it's great that the NYR community here is rather active. With Twitter, Snapchat, tiktok and all that social media stuff I feel like a lot of discussion boards have been dying in the past 5 years or so. I think I'm getting so old that I enjoy this message board stuff more.
