I have no idea who either of those people are #I'mOld

I think we've kept you in suspense long enough. They're characters in the movie Bloodsport -- which is @Leonardo87 's most all-time favorite movie of all time -- and Frank Dux (based on a real guy) is the good guy and Chong Li the evil bad-ass and heavy favorite to win the Kumite tournament (who obviously loses in the end).

After we made it to the finals (and subsequently game 7 in the following year) I actually took a break from being an avid hockey fan for a few years for the first time in my life. The stress of those runs did a number on me.

I'm pretty confident if I ever see a cup, it'll take a long time for me to get back to where I am today. I'm praying we win this year, but every time we get knocked out, I always feel a sense of relief.

I absolutely love this sport, but it's not a joy for me watching these games. It's borderline sickening, even when we win. The one thing I want to see in my life is a cup and with each goal against it's like that dream continuously slips away, year after year. I'm self-aware enough to realize how ridiculous the investment I have in a game, let alone one I have zero control over, and the impact it has on my mental health isn't worth it, but it's too late to change that.

I look forward to us hopefully winning someday and for me to be able to finally be a casual viewer that just enjoys this sport for what it is, entertainment.

You are comparing an era that has zero relevance to this one. They may as well have been playing on grass back then. There is no way Lavi will ever do what you're saying, and if he did, we would get absolutely smoked. And not just in the attempted shots category.

Bro, I hear you. I actually didn't go into the office today because I was so deflated from the game and some other stuff going on (luckily most of my department is on leave so I can WFH 3/4 of this week as long as I make it in one day).

Rangers are the one team I get very invested in. Regular season is mostly easy and a joy (other than games on the Island or Pittsburgh which always give me gross feelings). Playoffs I become a superstitious OCD wreck for most years (ironically 2014 I was like "whatever" because I wasn't a fan of that version of the team, trading Callahan, not playing Fast, etc.).

I've already said if they can win this year, I'm done asking for anything NY sports wise forever. I'll take the rest of my life with nothings and close but no cigars, and that goes for all the teams I root for. It's not only for me, I think it would be the ultimate healing thing for NY which has had a real rough go around the last decade, and for a lot of the old timers in their 70s-80s, it would put instant joy on their face.

I also haven't been posting as much because I worked to get a new job, and I have to continue that and start dating again, you know moving on with my life at some point I'll always have the Rangers to root for but the amount of time is going to have to decrease if I really want to live to my fullest.

One trend I'm hoping to be avoided. This team had crapped the bed in all the ECF Game 5s in my lifetime so hopefully tomorrow they wake the eff up. 94, 97 (ok they were injured and outmatched), 12 (that was a terrible game), 14, 15, and 22 have been duds.

I'm praying for once the big boys show up to play and play pissed.

If they win the cup this year, I'd be content with that until I die, lol. Winning a cup is extremely hard, even if you're the favorite.

I have some perspective today so I'm not as deflated, but man that was a bad game the Rangers played. Hank must be getting flashbacks.

You are allowed to feel and think whatever you want, damn the statistics.
Of course I am. As are you. Damn the statistics. Damn those two secondary and one primary assists! If you think Panarin is playing even as well as, never mind better than, his two linemates you are on an island. Because he is NOT. But please, I’d love to be wrong here. Please show me the stats from THIS series that support you thinking this. His scoring is half his regular season rate, he’s not playing physically, he’s not creating the chances. Meanwhile his two linemates are having series that have commentators mentioning (very prematurely) “Conn Smythe”…

I don't think any of his games was as lopsided as Igor's last two, but I could be mistaken. I don't have a memory anymore. Lundqvist got shelled alright, but I don't think it ever looked like last night or Monday night.

All I know is 94 and that wasn’t easy which made it even more special

I do not remember getting caved like we have the past 2 games though
