Up in the Blue Seats Podcast with Mollie Walker and Brian Boyle:
And, nothing. And? Did anyone say that Lindgren (with expiring contract) and Trouba (with limited NTC) are untouchables? With the combination of cap cost and on-ice contribution it’s definitely an area that can be improved. But this WAS discussed around TDL and should be left until offseason - there’s nothing can be done about it now so constantly regurgitating the same thing is useless and annoying. Part of the reason why Drury spent so little to improve this team at TDL was because this group to show themselves before ultimately deciding what kind of improvements will be needed going forward. But Ccan they win the limited number of games with this deficiency relying on will and resiliency? It’s a game with tons of variables so yeah.
Miller sucks ass too.Just play Fox and Miller together and let them go 28-30 minutes.
Miller sucks ass too.
Miller sucks ass too.
Coincidentally the Rangers are coming back home for game 5 where Laviolette will again get a chance to match to his advantage. If we can get back to playing more like Games 1 and 2 rather than Games 3 and 4, we can pull this off. I don't think we were perfect by any means in Games 1 and 2, but I thought we played better than in Games 3 and 4. Just felt like Florida had more high danger chances in Games 3 and 4 than they did in Games 1 and 2. Wonder what the advanced stats say though.
I agree. Keep bringing up Trouba and Lindgen (as “I told you so”) at this point is verbal masturbation - using your professorial lexicon. And, nothing.
If they lose people will have the option to
1) Say "ah well, we knew the D corps was a weakness" and we come back next season.
2) Verbally masturbate to their own theories about grit, the country club, and complaining that Rempe didn't play enough.
I feel like even if we somehow win, we should all be saying "the D corps is a weakness" heading into next season. Albeit, IDGAF about anything happening ever again if I see just one cup.I agree. Keep bringing up Trouba and Lindgen (as “I told you so”) at this point is verbal masturbation - using your professorial lexicon.
It's a valid criticism.I agree. Keep bringing up Trouba and Lindgen (as “I told you so”) at this point is verbal masturbation - using your professorial lexicon.
f***ing Lindgren, man. This was the two games in Florida, it’s hard to take that he’s just going to go down with the ship with those pairs the same.

We’re back
Trust me, give it half a season and you'll hate everyone again.I feel like even if we somehow win, we should all be saying "the D corps is a weakness" heading into next season. Albeit, IDGAF about anything happening ever again if I see just one cup.
We’re back
No way do I scratch Kakko. Only change I would do up front is put Chytil back in on the third line and sit Roslovic. Roslovic provides nothing to the team, except "some" speed which he doesn't use to his advantage. Doesn't hit, forecheck or backcheck, useless player that excelled against the Caps and had some flashes in the Carolina series.Coincidentally the Rangers are coming back home for game 5 where Laviolette will again get a chance to match to his advantage.
PS I liked what Rempe and Wheeler performance last night, maybe because of lower expectations but IMO that 4th line was fine. And I do think Laviolette was giving Chytil a chance to recover some. If we keep former two and bring back Chytil, I’d healthy scratch Kakko again. I wish Jones was put in but there’s no LD he should replace and I don’t see Laviolette going with 7 D.
I really think miller has no confidence to play when he’s with trouba. I think playing with trouba has stifled his development tremendously. it’s no coincidence that whoever plays with trouba has his play and numbers go down significantly.Miller sucks ass too.
In offseason it becomes a combination of roster construction with performance and cap considerations in mind. There’s a lot Drury can do with let’s lay $16m give or take otherwise allocated to Trouba, Lindgren and Kakko besides other options.I feel like even if we somehow win, we should all be saying "the D corps is a weakness" heading into next season. Albeit, IDGAF about anything happening ever again if I see just one cup.
Yes and I look forward to the next coach finally being the magic beans man who fixes everything.if we fizzle out in 6 games and Lav just sits on his thumbs and doesn't mix things up, he needs to be the first one out the door (after Trouba, ofc)
Miller-Schneider sucked too and shiny new toy syndrome is the only reason people thought otherwise.I really think miller has no confidence to play when he’s with trouba. I think playing with trouba has stifled his development tremendously. it’s no coincidence that whoever plays with trouba has his play and numbers go down significantly.
next season have miller play from the start of the season to christmas with not trouba and I feel very strongly he’ll look a lot better.
lavi hasnt really done any adjustments to the defense corps. Because taking out trouba, or lindgren would be a hard, but necessary choice.I believe Lavi will make adjustments. He's a better coach than Gallant. Will those adjustments be the right ones (defensive) I'd guess no. But crazier things have happened.
The Rangers coaches aren't completely dumb or blind as opposed to years past. Lavi has pushed the right buttons this season. The Rangers can win 2/3 against this team. I think they're the underdog, but they can win.
In general this season, when the Rangers lose, they come back ready to play in the following game. The coaches are doing something right. I was hoping after Game 3, they would see that as a loss, but they didn't.
I'm semi-optimistic for Game 5 being at home and being after a loss.
The team itself is truthfully 1-2 pieces on defense away from being a cup favorite. Hopefully Drury is seeing what we all are and recognizes what changes need to be made in the off-season. With the parity in the league they can probably still pull this off.
